Chapter 44

Calista walked into the mansion with teary eyes. She was so happy she was back home. Vladimir, who was walking beside her, smiled gently at her. She smiled back with a happy smile on her face.

She looked around in admiration. This place is still the same as before. Nothing has changed. She then walked to the victoria fountain in the middle of the room and stood by the pond. She kept staring at it without blinking.

“Do you like this fountain?” Vladimir asked when he stood beside her.

“Yes. I fell in love from the first time I saw this,” she said into his eyes.

“You... have been here before?”

She fell silent upon hearing his question. She just realized she shouldn’t have said that. She quickly avoided his eyes, that were staring at her curiously as she tried to hide her nervousness from him.

She then saw a man wearing a black suit walking towards them. He was holding a white box tied with a white ribbon in his hands.

Vladimir moved
