Chapter 1

Author: Mountain River
After my physical examination, I'm about to leave the pack infirmary located in my cousin's territory when a heavily made-up healer suddenly grabs my arm.

She hisses, "Stop right there! You think you can break something in the infirmary and just run away? No way!"

I look at her unfamiliar face and blink, feeling utterly confused. "What did I break?"

She points to the crystal potion bottles on the shelves and wrinkles her nose exaggeratedly.

"You reek, and your stench has contaminated all the potions, making them unusable! Alpha Xander bought these at a high cost, and all of it is worth 500 thousand dollars. There's also compensation for causing me emotional distress—that's another 200 thousand.

"Altogether, that's 700 thousand dollars. Will you pay by cash or card?"

My scent is a mix of violet and amber. It's noble and cool, like a winter dusk. Of course, not everyone loves this scent, but "contamination"? Please!

I can't fathom why the infirmary in Xander's territory is operating like a scam.

I laugh out of anger and say, "I'm Alpha Xander's cousin. I don't pay a single cent in his territory. If anyone has a problem with that, have Xander come say it to my face."

But the healer only rolls her eyes. "You bitch, trying to use such lowly tricks to get my Alpha's attention? You wish! If you don't pay up today, I'll strip you naked and throw you onto the street so that everyone can smell how foul you are!"

She has no idea who she's threatening.

I take a deep breath and quickly contact my Beta. "Tell Xander—either banish this healer from the pack, or I'll banish him."

...

I had just won a brutal territorial war. My Beta, Braden Jenkins, practically begged me to get a physical examination, so I went.

The central pack infirmary that belonged to the Lighthall pack—which my cousin Xander Smith was the Alpha of—was reputed to be the best on the continent, so, of course, that was where I went.

The medical report showed I was in excellent health. It was just that my wolf had used too much power and needed to rest in slumber for a while.

But who could have guessed that I'd be treated like a pushover here?

"Filthy commoner, stop barking! Pay up now!" The female healer blocked my path, and she looked at me as if I were a rat in the gutter.

"Seven hundred thousand dollars total. I'm telling you, if you're even one cent short, you won't be leaving through this door today!"

A few pack members passing by the door were already drawn in by her loud voice. They perked up their ears and looked over.

Her yelling hurt my ears. I really didn't want to waste time on such a trivial matter, so I directly dialed Xander's number. The phone rang for a long time, but no one answered. Where the hell did that idiot Alpha run off to in broad daylight?

I put away my phone, suppressed my emotions, and met the she-wolf's sharp gaze.

"I'll repeat it once more—I am Xander's cousin.

"For some reason, I can't get through to Xander's phone right now. If you don't believe me, you can use the computer behind you to check the werewolf pack archives. At his coronation ceremony as Alpha of the Lighthall pack, I personally pinned his pack's crest to his chest in front of half the continent."

I thought stating the facts would be enough to shut her up. But reasoning only worked on those who understood reason.

Instead of checking the archives, the she-wolf let out a piercing, shrill laugh. Her nails dug deep into my shoulder, pulling me closer as she whispered in my ear.

"Cousin? Don't make me laugh. I've seen your photo on Alpha Xander's office desk. You even shamelessly tried to seduce my boyfriend right in his office. And now, you dare show up before me while looking for a chance to chat him up? I'll tear you to pieces!"

Huh? Her boyfriend?

I froze up momentarily before taking a closer look at the name tag on her chest that read, "Nina Tucker".

I felt speechless for a second. So, the perfect girlfriend Nina, whom Xander had been hiding and refusing to introduce me to, was this very mean she-wolf before me? I couldn't believe that his taste had actually deteriorated to this point.

At that moment, I finally understood—this wasn't about the 700 thousand dollars. This was clearly a deliberate setup!

Before I could even retort, I heard Nina snap her fingers.

Two guards emerged from the shadows of the hallway, burly and expressionless.

"Nothing more to say? Good. Since a filthy commoner like you can't pay for the potions you contaminated, we'll handle it the old-fashioned way," Nina said menacingly.

One of the guards raised silver shackles, while the other roughly grabbed my wrist.

"How dare you!" My instinct for survival instantly erupted, and I subconsciously tried to release my Alpha Female aura. But my wolf was still deep in slumber, showing no response whatsoever.

A moment later, they had me tightly bound. They hoisted me up and dragged me straight to the waste room, filled with medical waste and potion residue. The door closed with a heavy thud, cutting off all light from the outside and leaving only a nauseating stench.

Things in the Lighthall pack had changed. In just one night, the once-arrogant Alpha Xander and his malicious girlfriend Nina had plummeted from the clouds down into the mud.The central plaza was crowded with werewolves. The pack members felt no sympathy as they watched the once high-and-mighty Alpha grovel on the ground like a beggar, nor did they feel anything when they saw the usually haughty and tyrannical healer sport a bloody mouth and disfigured face.Instead, they erupted in cheers and applause. All these years, Xander had been obsessed with she-wolves, and Nina, during her time with him, had abused her power. As a result, everyone resented them.In their eyes, my swift and severe punishment became a righteous deed that eliminated evil.I didn't linger in the Lighthall pack for long. After appointing a powerful werewolf who had long been suppressed as acting Alpha and leaving guards to help maintain order, I set off back to the Frostmoon pack. The motorcade slowly drov

Xander stared at me in horror, scrambling backward desperately. Even the chair clattered noisily along with him. "No! No! Kamryn! Please! Don't! Don't destroy me!"Xander's desperate roar echoed in the waste room, quickly turning into agonized wails.Braden moved quickly, precisely, and cruelly. He swiftly gripped Xander's jaw, forced his mouth open, and poured a bottle of purple liquid down his throat.Xander coughed violently while clawing at his throat, trying to vomit the contents out."Kamryn! You broke your word! I hope you die a horrible death!" he bellowed.I stood to the side with an indifferent expression. I gave my word? Giving my word to someone like him would be self-inflicted cruelty. When I first helped him rise to power, he, too, had vowed to always protect me. And what was the result? He used my resources, kept a girlfriend who humiliated me, and chose to look the other way when I was in danger. He even kicked me while I was down.Letting an ungrateful bastard

The underground waste room of the pack infirmary was still dark and damp. The air reeked of a foul mix of rotting potions and stale blood.A few hours ago, I had been pinned to the floor here, enduring the corrosion of silver water. Now, the roles were reversed.Nina was suspended in mid-air by iron chains, her wrists already bleeding from the restraints. Her expensive haute couture dress was now filthy, and she had cried her once-meticulous makeup into a comical clown mask.Nearby, Xander was tied to a chair. He had a rag stuffed in his mouth and was forced to watch everything. His eyes were filled with fear, pleading, and a trace of resentment toward Nina. Clearly, on the way here, he had figured out who was truly to blame for all this.If only this stupid she-wolf hadn't provoked me, he would still be the high-and-mighty Alpha, living a life of luxury and indulgence.I sat on a clean chair, toying with the metal bucket that had once contained the disinfectant."Nina, do you r

"No… Don't…" Xander kneeled on the floor, his hands clutching the carpet. Earlier, he had still held onto hope, believing I would spare him for the sake of family ties. But now, faced with reality, all his illusions had shattered. How could he bear to revert to being an ordinary werewolf after having already enjoyed the life of an Alpha with others fawning over him? What was even more terrifying was that he now faced being banished from the pack, forced to become a Rogue, left to brave the elements on his own!"Kamryn! I was wrong! I was really wrong!" Xander wept bitterly, trying to hug my legs, but Braden blocked him."I shouldn't have shielded her! I shouldn't have been so deluded! Please, don't strip my Alpha title or banish me from the pack! We grew up together. Have you forgotten our past bonds? Have you forgotten what Grandpa said before he died, that we should support each other?"He finally brought up our dead grandfather, but unfortunately, it was too late. While looking

The Alpha Succession Decree was like a heavy hammer, smashing down on Xander and shattering any illusions everyone present had.Xander fumbled to catch the paper. After reading its contents, he froze in place as if struck by lightning."Change of Alpha? Kamryn, you're insane! We share the same bloodline. You can't find a more suitable Alpha for a subordinate pack than me!" he yelled, his voice changing pitch due to fear. The weakness emanating from his very bones was exposed at this moment. In other aspects, Xander wasn't even considered outstanding. He was just slightly better than an average werewolf. Without his Alpha status and my protection, the werewolves he had offended in the past would swarm to tear him to pieces!"A trivial matter, huh?" I stepped closer to him, forcing him to tremble and retreat step by step."Xander, it seems I've protected you too well over the years, causing you to forget my rules. Your partner used corporal punishment on me, extorted money from me,

Dead silence filled the hall.Xander's wine glass slipped from his hand, shattering on the floor with a loud crack. He squinted his bleary eyes, seemingly unable to recognize me standing against the light. Meanwhile, Nina, in his arms, screamed first, "Alpha! It's her! That crazy she-wolf even chased us to our home!"Nina, like a cat whose tail had been stepped on, pointed at me and screeched, "Why did you bring all these warriors? Are you planning to rebel? This is the Lighthall pack's territory!"She turned and shook Xander's arm, complaining coyly, "Darling, look how arrogant she is! She must be jealous of our love and wants to cause trouble. Hurry, call the guards and arrest her. This time, I want to peel the skin off her face myself!"Xander finally got a clear look at my face. In that instant, the drunkenness drained from his face like a receding tide, and he immediately paled instead."Kamryn my cousin? What are you doing here? How long have you been here?"The good-for-
