LOGIN**Leylie’s POV**For the past few days, Hayes had treated me like I was invisible. Or worse — like I was something dirty he didn’t want to touch. Every time I walked into a room, he found a reason to leave it. If I tried to speak to him about Ava’s schedule, he answered in short, cold sentences without looking at me. If our eyes accidentally met, he turned away like the sight of me hurt him.It hurt. God, it hurt more than anything Finnian ever did to me.It was Saturday afternoon, and the house felt gloomy even though Hayes was home. I sat in the living room with Ava, trying to keep my mind busy while she watched SpongeBob. The bright colors and silly laughter on the screen were the only things stopping me from completely falling apart.“Leylie.”His voice came from behind me, sudden and low. I jumped so hard I almost fell off the couch. I hadn’t even heard him come in.“Yes… sir,” I answered quickly, voice shaky.I turned to look at him and my chest tightened. He looked exhausted.
**Leylie’s POV **I was still on the bedroom floor where Hayes had left me. I had no idea how much time had passed. It could have been an hour, or maybe a few minutes. My mind kept replaying every moment of last night. The way he looked at me, the way his hands moved over my body, and whispered my name, like it meant something. Everything felt so real, so warm, so perfect. And now, it's gone.Just like that. How did he find out? The question burned in my skull.Did Matthew tell him? It had to be him. He was the only one who knew both sides of me, and had a reason to destroy me.Bastard!I wiped my face with the back of my hand and tried to stand up. My legs felt heavy, and the area between them still ached from last night. Hayes was so much bigger than Finnian, but he definitely knew how to make a woman feel good. Then, my phone rang. The sound was muffled, and I furrowed my brow as I traced it. How did my phone end up out of my purse and on the table? I couldn't remember moving it.
**Hayes’ POV**“Matthew, did you know? Did you know Leylie was actually Red?”The question hung in the air, heavy and sharp.Matthew walked slowly toward my desk and sank into the chair Finnian had just vacated. He didn’t rush or fidget; he just sat there, hands resting on his knees, as if he’d been expecting this moment for a long time.“Yes,” his voice was calm and steady. “I knew.”I felt the blood roar in my ears. I stared at him, waiting for the punchline, for him to laugh and tell me it was a joke. But he didn’t. He just looked back at me, calm, almost resigned.“How?” I asked, voice rough. “And why the hell didn’t you tell me? We’ve been friends for years, Matt. You saw me obsessing over that woman in the mask. Why didn't you tell me?”“I tried to,” he countered, finally looking up, though his gaze was fleeting. “I kept warning you about her, remember? I told you she wasn’t who she seemed.”“No!” I roared, slamming my palm on the desk. “Warnings aren’t enough! All you had to d
**Hayes’ POV**I wasn’t in the right frame of mind for a conversation with Finnian Thorne.Every time I closed my eyes, I saw her—Leylie, her skin flushed, her lips parted, her body moving against mine like she couldn’t get close enough.I hated that I still yearned for her. I couldn’t stop wanting her.My phone buzzed on the table. I glanced down, and the name on the screen sent a sharp jolt through my chest.Leylie: I know you hate me right now, but I didn’t mean to deceive you. I should have told you who I was in that private room. I shouldn't have hidden my identity, and I’m truly sorry for that. I really messed up. I made a mistake, and I can’t take it back, but I’m not a gold digger, Hayes. I was never after your money. All I ever wanted was you.I took a deep, calming breath after reading the text. I couldn't hate her even if I wanted to. I can't even stop thinking about her because last night was incredible. She was the first woman I had allowed into my bed since Melissa’s d
**Finnian's POV**“You have been moody ever since you got back from that event,” Blair said to me, her voice cold.I wasn’t in the mood to talk or explain the rage and humiliation that were eating me alive, especially not to Blair. I sat on the edge of the bed, staring at the wall, my fists clenched so tightly that my nails dug into my palms, leaving red marks.“I just have a lot on my mind,” I told her half-heartedly, not even bothering to look at her."Yeah? A lot like Leylie, right?"The name triggered something ugly in my mind. I stood up before I even realized I was moving, my finger trembling as I pointed it at her face. "What the hell, Blair! I’m not in the mood for your bullshit tonight. I’ve had a hectic day, and I’ve got a damn headache!"She didn’t flinch. Instead, she smirked, letting out a dry chuckle that made my blood boil even more. “Finnian, you are absolutely pathetic, you know that, right? I made a big mistake marrying you. Honestly, maybe I should have gone after
**Hayes’ POV**I was angry. No, that was too easy. I was fucking furious. The kind of rage that blurs your vision, makes your pulse pound in your ears, and causes your hands to shake with the urge to break something.I had always prided myself on being shrewd, a man who could see through a lie from a mile away. I thought I was the best judge of character, and now I was standing outside her door, feeling like the biggest idiot on the planet.I shook my head in disgust as I headed to my room to get ready for work.I had to leave. I couldn’t stand looking at her face any longer without going crazy.I stepped into the shower and turned the water to a punishingly cold temperature, trying to scrub her scent from my skin. But no matter how hard I scrubbed, I couldn’t wash away the memory of her touch or the way she had moaned just hours earlier. I had finally allowed myself to act on impulse, to feel something without calculating the repercussions, and it had come back to bite me in the ass
**Finnian’s POV**The buzzing of my phone on the nightstand drilled into my skull. I groaned and rolled over, glaring at the screen. If this was Leylie calling to beg again, I was going to lose it completely.I checked the time; it wasn’t even seven in the morning. I hadn't slept well, mostly becau
**Hayes’ POV**The knocking didn't stop. It was persistent, and it sounded like it was coming from someone who felt they had every right to be at my door. I looked at Leylie; her brows raised, her blue eyes wide open. "Go to the dressing room," I commanded, pointing to the closet door, keeping my v
**Leylie’s POV**Seeing my mother on the floor, her chest barely moving, was more than I could bear.Grace rushed past me, her voice shaking as she dropped to her knees beside Mom. “Oh my God, Mrs. Field! Leylie, what are we going to do?"“We need to get her to the hospital right now,” I said, alre
**Leylie’s POV**The rain didn’t let up; each drop felt like a needle against my bare skin as I walked away from the only life I had known for four years. My bare feet slapped against the cold, rough pavement, each step sending sharp pain up my legs. I kept my arms wrapped around myself, trying to
