MasukMy hands were shaking, and my heartbeat could be heard pounding from a mile away. My eyes were glued to the devil standing before me whose expression didn't change one bit.
“What do you mean?”
“How would you know? How would you have known that while you were out here frolicking with your whore, I was out there hurting?”
Before I could say another word, Mandy called out in a chippy voice and gasped. “Did you hear that? Dyson, she just called me a whore.”
I expected Dyson to have been aware of his fault, to pull me close and apologize. Instead, he looked up at me and in a dark, vibrating tone, “You need to apologize to her right now, Alexis.”
“What?” I murmured. “You can't be serious.”
“That's right!” Olivia chimed in from atop the staircase. “How can you just come in here and start insulting everyone?”
Denise snorted loudly from the background where she'd been enjoying the drama initially. “If you think you can just come here and kill the legal heir to this family, you're sorely mistaken, Alexis.”
“Touch her again, and you'll regret it.” Clarissa's voice carried a malicious undertone that made me feel as though I was in hell.
“Have you all gone crazy? Dyson,” I moved closer until I was one inch away. Mandy whimpered as if she didn't like that I was close to him, and so she immediately grabbed his arm. “We used to be in love. It used to be just us. Until now. What happened to us?”
“Maybe I just grew tired of your whining,” he said, to her utter surprise. “Maybe if you had kept quiet and stopped being immature, none of these would have happened…”
“Immature? You call me immature? You're the one who went out and brought in another woman!”
“If you didn't like it, you could have left,” Mandy said in a soft voice while running her hand over her belly.
I looked around at the house that had once received me with warmth. That same house had slowly grown cold while leaving me with the brutal aftermath of an emotional frostbite. I looked at the three sisters, not missing the snickering and evil smirk on their faces.
Then, I looked back at Dyson, at the same handsome face I used to love and cherish. I squeezed the paper in my hand with all the anger welling up inside me.
“I did not come to fight anyone; I just simply want you to sign the papers.”
“Over my dead body, Alexis.”
“You should sign it, brother. Maybe then we can have some peace in this house,” Clarissa fumed from where she stood.
Denise laughed as she walked down to where she stood. “You're right. All that stomping with her heavy self would be gone if only brother would sign the papers.”
“You're right, Denise. For once, you're showing signs that you have more than one brain cell.”
Denise's eyes widened in an instant, but as she made to speak again, Clarissa interrupted. “The nerve you have to even speak when you look like that. I wonder what your child must look like.”
“That's right. It's a good thing she didn't bring that bad luck into this house.”
Their words rendered my heart into pieces and broke what little composure I had left. Not only did they keep chipping away at what little I had left of my esteem, but they were saying horrible things about my baby who passed on.
I clutched the hem of my gown with all my strength even though I could hear my knuckles pop.
“Maybe bringing the baby would end all of our skepticism when we see how ugly it is. Definitely not from this family.” Clarissa continued to add salt to injury. “I mean, have you seen what a legitimate baby does to the mother? Mandy is a good example of that.”
Mandy smiled, but quickly masked it with mock seriousness.
“You guys need to stop bullying her. She's human too. She may be ugly, but I'm sure her baby will be an angel.”
I shook my head and looked up, unable to take the abuse anymore. “Say one more word about my baby, and I swear, I'll kill you, bitch!”
Before I could move forward, Clarissa came close and nudged me with her elbow. The world was a blur as I caught her hand raising it in the air and approaching with full force. A part of me wanted to cower in fear and curl up into a ball, but the other part of me took over. Her hand never descended.
Gripping her wrist with sheer force, I hit her face with my other hand, feeling my nerves fire up with satisfaction at the whack sound.
Every living soul in the house gasped. But I wasn't in the mood to analyze how anyone felt.
So I picked up the file from the floor, moved close to Dyson and slammed it on the table behind him. Mandy flinched beside him, but Dyson remained transfixed.
There was no doubt, his eyes held disbelief and shock. Nothing could be more hurtful and satisfying.
I turned around without saying a word and left the mansion with my things. They could all go to hell for all I care. I held myself together like a giant, pulling two broken worlds together.
It only lasted until I got behind the door to my room. Then I let the dam loose. Not just for Dyson and all the things I hoped we could become, but for the things I endured for love and the loss of my child. Everything came together in a whirlwind of emotions until I couldn't keep it bottled up any longer.
I screamed the loudest I had ever been and let the tears flow free. Three hours later, I was done crying and sulking.
I moved to the bathroom and grabbed a pair of scissors before looking into the mirror.
I would work on myself and live in a world Dyson could only dream of. I would forget about going back and only think of moving forward henceforth. That starts with going back to my father's company where I belonged, where I could rule like a queen without being apologetic about it.
DYSON"Ooh! Baby!" Mandy moaned into the bed, her ass rippling as I pounded into her. As my mother said, I fucked out all my frustrations on her. This was the only stress relief I had, and one of the reasons I was glad to have her as my wife. She grabbed the bedsheet to steady herself as I slammed into her, as though I wanted to break her back with the force I was using. The headboard crashed against the wall with heavy thuds. I grunted, feeling how tightly her p*ssy squeezed my c*ck."Shh," I groaned, my head falling back. I didn't want my mother or anyone else to hear her screaming like a slut, but then again, it was my house. I was the one who owned it. I owned everything here, including the woman I was fucking."Mmm!" she moaned obediently, her screams lowering into strangled moans. I lifted my hand and struck her ass, my fingers sinking into her soft flesh. She yelped, and her juices squirted onto my thigh.I held her waist, biting my lip.Yes... this was what power felt like.Th
DYSON“Do you think she's really going to reject our proposal?” my assistant whispered beside me. “This is the last option we have. After this, the company will collapse, and the debts we have won't be paid in any—”I slapped my thigh irritably. “I know. I know everything that will happen.” I glared at him before turning to the executives who had been whispering among themselves as though I wouldn't hear them.I sighed, biting my nails. Please don't do this to me, Alexis.I clenched my hands, my eyes fixed on the door, hoping she would walk in with a smile and tell me she'd changed her mind and that we had a deal.Right at that moment, the door swung open, and my eyes snapped to it. She walked in, and behind her was that annoying man, Xavier. I still wondered how the fuck they knew each other, but that didn't matter right now.My company mattered, and if this deal ended in rejection because of what we had, I wouldn't let her get away with it. I wasn't fucking at fault for anything tha
XAVIER'S POVThe conference room fell into complete silence. I stared at the man standing near the entrance, unable to believe what I was seeing.Dyson.For a second, I thought I had mistaken him for someone else. Then I noticed the way Alexis had gone perfectly still beside me.The color drained from her face. Her fingers tightened around the leather folder resting on the table until her knuckles turned white. She knew him.No.She knew him far too well. It couldn't be that he was who I thought he was.Dyson looked at Alexis as though the rest of us had disappeared. His mouth parted slightly, but no words came out.The silence stretched painfully.I shifted my gaze between the two of them before clearing my throat."Mr. Lacrae," I said, forcing the meeting back on track. "Please, have a seat."He didn't move. His eyes remained locked on Alexis."Alexis..."She inhaled slowly before lifting her chin. Every trace of surprise disappeared behind the calm, professional expression she had
DYSON'S POVA month had passed since my wife left me.I used to think losing Alexis would only mean coming home to an empty house. I thought the silence would be the hardest part. I was wrong. The silence was nothing compared to everything else falling apart around me.I stared at the mountain of documents sitting on my desk, my fingers pressing against my temple as I tried to understand how everything had become this complicated. Before Alexis left, these papers would have already been organized. She would have gone through every detail, pointed out every mistake, and reminded me of the things I had overlooked. She had always been better at this than me.I hated admitting that.My jaw tightened as I picked up another file.A merger I had been confident about was delayed. A partnership that had been almost finalized suddenly fell apart. Investors who once trusted my decisions were now questioning them.Everywhere I looked, there was a problem waiting for me. And for the first time in
ALEXISThe following morning arrived sooner than expected. The events of the previous night replayed in the back of my mind no matter how hard I tried to focus on work.Xavier's words kept replaying in my head, and every time they did, an unfamiliar warmth settled in my chest. I wasn't ready to acknowledge the mate bond between us, but I couldn't deny that something had changed.By the time I arrived at the office, I had already buried those thoughts beneath my usual professionalism.'Work came first.' I tapped my cheek lightly as I pushed the door open. My eyes swept around the place and took note of everything.Xavier was already seated inside the boardroom when I walked in. He was dressed in a simple grey shirt, his eyes fixed on the documents he was holding. His brows were pressed tightly together, and his index finger was tapping his head.He looked up from the documents in front of him when he felt my presence and offered me a small smile.“Hey.”I returned the smile before taki
ALEXISHis breath hitched against my lips before he slowly pulled away, his hands settling firmly on my shoulders. His chest rose and fell with uneven breaths as he stared into my eyes, conflict behind them. For a long moment, neither of us spoke."Alexis," he said softly, his voice strained. "Look at me."I wanted to more than anything, but every instinct inside me urged me to close the distance between us again. My wolf paced restlessly, whining with every passing second. The heat coursing through my body clouded my thoughts until I could barely distinguish desire from reason.I clenched my fists so tightly that my nails dug into my palms as I fought to regain control."Something's wrong," I admitted, my voice trembling despite my efforts to sound composed. His expression immediately softened."I know."He reached up and carefully tucked a loose strand of hair behind my ear. His fingertips barely brushed my skin, yet the simple touch sent another wave of warmth racing through my bod
ALEXIS’S POV“Alexis!” Dyson’s voice filled with panic as he reached me first. He dropped to his knees beside me, his face had gone pale with fear and for the first time in months, I saw real terror in his eyes. “Oh my God… Alexis! Stay with me. What happened?!”He tried to lift me, but his hands w
ALEXIS'S POVMy days in the house became one long, painful haze. I was drowning in exhaustion, both body and soul. At this point I was a stranger to sleep. Every night I lay in our big cold bed alone, listening to the distant murmurs and laughter coming from the other wing where Dyson now spent mo
ALEXIS'S POVThe days that followed after Mandy’s arrival were a series of nightmares I couldn’t wake up from.Mandy moved into the mansion the very next morning and within hours, the entire atmosphere changed. Helena and the sisters treated her like a precious jewel that had finally been delivered
ALEXIS Dyson had his hand gently placed on her lower back, guiding her inside like she belonged here. The entire table went silent for a second before Helena rose with a bright, genuine smile I had never seen her give me.“Dyson, my son! You finally brought her,” Helena said warmly.I couldn’t bre
