"Open the door. Now."

The deep voice rumbled down the hallway of Evelyn’s apartment. Two men in black suits stood outside, pressing the intercom. As Evelyn opened the door slightly, surprised, they forced their way in.

Evelyn stepped back. "What are you doing?!"

Behind them stood a familiar figure—Alexander Hartford, William’s father. Cold, immaculate, and holding a small briefcase.

"Apologies for not making an appointment," he said with a mocking tone. "But sometimes, important matters don’t require pleasantries."

Evelyn’s gaze sharpened. "If this is about William, I think you should speak to him directly."

Alexander stepped in without hesitation.

"You know exactly why I’m here. I’m simply here to end something before it gets worse."

He placed the briefcase on the table and pulled out a thin document from inside his coat. He pushed it toward Evelyn.

"All you have to do is sign this. Then take the briefcase. It’s more than enough to start a new life... far away from my son."

“Evelyn, you can’t keep going like this,” Sandra’s voice trembled as she stood beside the hospital bed where Evelyn was still recovering.Evelyn stared out the window. A light rain clung to the glass, dotting it with tiny beads of water. Silence.“William… he’s been outside since last night,” Sandra continued softly. “Sitting in the hallway without sleeping. He hasn’t tried to come in. He’s just… waiting. At least let him speak.”Evelyn drew in a deep, heavy breath. Her eyes were swollen, but her gaze remained sharp.“What could he possibly say? That he’s sorry again? That he wanted to protect me but couldn’t trust my choices?”“No,” Sandra stepped closer, her voice gentle. “Maybe this time, he just wants to be honest.”---Later that afternoon – Gallery Back Garden (under renovation)The rain had stopped. The air was still damp, and raindrops trickled from the leaves, creating a quiet rhythm that contrasted with the storm in Evelyn’s heart. She sat on a wooden bench, wrapped in a thi

The soft hum of the diamond cutter echoed through the stillness of the night, breaking the silence that clung to Evelyn’s small studio. Her delicate but deft hands continued sketching intricate patterns on the design paper. Her eyes were swollen, her body trembling slightly, but her mind refused to stop. It had been three days without proper sleep. She rejected rest. She refused to pause.“I have to finish this before the launch,” she whispered to herself.Sandra had warned her. So had the rest of her small team. But Evelyn remained stubborn—as if time itself would evaporate if she stopped, even for a second. And precisely at 2:10 AM, her body finally gave in.The diamond in her hand slipped, falling to the floor and cracking slightly. Before she could utter a word, her vision blacked out. Her body crumpled backward.THUD!The loud crash echoed through the studio, marking the moment Evelyn collapsed onto the cold floor, unconscious, her breath shallow and her face pale.---Hours Late

“What do you mean… all of that was from William?” Evelyn asked, her breath catching in her throat.Sandra looked at her cautiously, then placed a folder on Evelyn’s worktable.“We had no choice but to tell you, Evelyn. All the protection—the shadow lawyers, even the journalists you thought backed off because of legal pressure… it was all arranged by William.”Evelyn stared at the documents showing payment flows from a foreign company to the security team, and discreet emails coordinating the rescue of her exhibition from sabotage. Her hands trembled.“Why… why did he do this behind my back?”Sandra hesitated. “Maybe because he knew you’d refuse if you found out.”Evelyn rose from her chair. “He had no right,” she murmured. “Even if his intentions were good, he still ignored my decision.”Without another word, Evelyn grabbed her car keys. Her anger had reached a point beyond silence. She couldn’t let William play the savior from the shadows—as if she couldn’t stand on her own.---Will

“Clean the second floor before Evelyn arrives! Not a single cable should be out of place!”Sandra shouted while directing the technical crew bustling between booths and massive LED screens. This year’s Tokyo Design Exhibition felt different—grander, tighter, and deeply personal for Evelyn.Backstage, Evelyn was reviewing the digital presentation of her new jewelry collection. Her hands trembled slightly, but her eyes were sharp.“Relax, everything is ready,” Sandra said, approaching with a clipboard in hand. “If this goes well, no one will be able to bring you down again.”Evelyn gave a faint smile. “Nothing’s ever truly over, San. The quietest enemies... usually leave the deepest scars.”---In a luxury hotel not far from the venue, Selena stared at her laptop screen with a cold smirk.“Upload it. Now,” she said to her nervous assistant, whose palms were sweating.“Ma’am… this is extremely private data. If it leaks, the media will swarm Evelyn again…”“That’s exactly the point,” Sele

"Make sure not a single media outlet publishes anything negative about Evelyn this week. I don't care what it costs," William’s voice was sharp, cold, yet laced with exhaustion. He sat in a private office inside a discreet investigation agency in Minato District, Tokyo. His face had grown gaunt from lack of sleep. Across from him, a man in a grey suit opened a slim folder filled with the latest reports.“The journalist from Tokyo Daily has been silenced with a donation to their foundation,” the man reported. “And... we’ve assigned two personnel to watch over the perimeter of Evelyn’s studio. They're disguised as a parking attendant and a night security guard.”William glanced at the file, then gave a small nod. “Don’t let her find out.”“Why all the secrecy? Why not just go back and—”“I’ve already made her suffer too much,” William cut in coldly. “I destroyed her trust. Protecting her from afar... is the only thing I can do now without hurting her again.”The man didn’t dare argue.W

“Place the canvas by the window,” Evelyn said, her voice flat but clear as she pointed to a wall still half-painted. “I want natural light to touch the first painting we’ll display.”The technicians and decorators helping her quickly moved to follow her directions. The new studio was still in its final stages—an open space filled with the scent of fresh paint, wood dust, and scattered sketch papers waiting to be sorted.Evelyn stood in the middle of the room. Her posture was upright, composed, yet her eyes were hollow. It had been two weeks since she ended things with William. Since then, not a single call or message had come from him. And she knew—it was because William was honoring her decision. But the silence hurt. She slowly sat on a rattan stool facing the large window. The afternoon sun streamed in, catching strands of her messy hair. On the table, a cup of untouched black coffee sat next to a letter she hadn’t opened—sent by an old investor eager to reconnect.Yet nothing felt
