Anna cried herself to sleep that night and woke up with one decision already made.

She was getting a divorce.

She has no idea where she would go afterward, how she would support herself, or what would happen to their marriage, or everything they had built together. But she knew she could not stay with Jacob. Especially not after realizing that the man she has been married to for five years had stopped loving her a long time ago.

Her heart was broken. She had seen the signs coming but chose not to accept them. Jacob had become a different person when she returned from Indonesia. She told herself the distance has changed him, so she tolerated all his bullshit.

Stupid of her. He was cheating the entire time.

Anna chuckled bitterly and sighed. If she kept replaying what he had done, she would never move on. She just have to put it all in the past, she refused to be weak, the pain is there but weakness will only make it sting.

She walked to the bathroom, took a quick shower, brushed her teeth, dressed simply, picked up her handbag, and left the mansion before Jacob could wake up.

She needed to find a lawyer first, to understand exactly what she had to do to get the divorce papers and leave this marriage as soon as possible.

Her stomach grumbled. She hadn’t eaten since yesterday. Spotting a small café near the law office she had found online, she walked in intending to grab something before her appointment.

She had barely taken two steps inside when someone suddenly called her name.

“Anna.”

She stopped, recognizing the voice immediately. Slowly, she turned around.

A woman stood a few feet away, staring at her with wide eyes. Her hair was longer than Anna remembered, and she was dressed in a cream blazer with a handbag hanging on her shoulder.

Her face was so familiar.

“Georgia?” Anna guessed.

The woman’s mouth fell open. “Oh my God, it’s you for real!” She rushed forward and pulled Anna into a tight hug.

Anna froze for a second before hugging her back.

“Look at you!” Georgia exclaimed when she pulled away. “I can’t believe this! Woah, Anna, you’ve become more beautiful.”

Anna laughed softly. “You’ve changed as well…”

“How long has it been?”

“Five years.” They both laughed.

Georgia has been her best friend during college. They did almost everything together. But Georgia was forced to leave when her family moved to the United States, and she had to go with them to continue her education.

They promised to keep in touch, but life happened. They never did.

“I can’t believe you’re here,” Georgia said, still staring at her. “What are you doing in Singapore?”

“I live here.”

Georgia’s eyebrows shot up. “You live here?”

Anna nodded. “Yes, with my husband.”

Georgia’s eyes widened even further. “You’re married?”

Anna gave her a small smile. “Yeah.”

“Anna! Why didn’t you tell me?”

Anna looked down. “Things got complicated.”

Georgia immediately noticed the change in her expression. “What’s wrong?”

“Nothing.”

“Don’t give me that.” She touched Anna’s arm. “I’ve known you since college. That face means something is wrong.”

Anna tried to smile. “It really isn’t anything.”

“Then sit down.”

“Georgia…”

“Sit.”

Anna couldn’t help laughing. Georgia hadn’t changed. Still bossy.

They sat at a corner table. Georgia ordered two drinks before looking at her again. “Now talk to me. I’m not a stranger, okay?”

Anna stared at the table. For a few seconds, she couldn’t say anything. Then she whispered, “I’m getting a divorce.”

Georgia’s smile disappeared. “What? Why?”

“I found out my husband is cheating on me.”

Georgia’s eyes widened. “Hold on… you married that boyfriend of yours? Jacob?”

Anna nodded.

“You’re still with Jacob?”

“We’ve been married for five years.”

“Five years…” Georgia slowly shook her head. “What happened?”

Anna swallowed. “I found messages on his phone yesterday. He saved her number as ‘My Safespace.’”

Georgia’s face tightened. “Anna…”

“They weren’t just friends.” Anna laughed bitterly. “They were dating.”

Georgia reached across the table and held her hand. “Did he admit it?”

“He did.”

“And what did he say?”

Anna looked away. “He said he doesn’t love me anymore.”

Georgia’s expression softened. “Trust me, I don’t recommend men. They’re blood-sucking animals. And yoo stop calling him your husband, that title shouldn't be for him. I won't lie to you, men can be so useless, truly we can live without them.”

She pulled out her phone. “Give me your number.”

Anna gave it to her, and Georgia immediately called so Anna would have hers.

“Saved.” She smiled. “You’re not getting rid of me again.”

Georgia reached across the table and squeezed her hand once more.

“Whatever happens next, Anna, I’ll help you.” she said, reassuring her.

Anna looked at her through her tears. “Thank you so much.”

Georgia smiled. “Now finish your drink, clean up your tears...We have a divorce to deal with.”

“Thank you.”Everything happened quickly after that. She filled out forms, received a temporary ID card, met a few people, and was eventually shown to a desk. Before she had even properly settled in, a mountain of work was already waiting for her.Her supervisor, Mrs. Elaine, was pleasant enough, although she looked like someone who hadn’t had a proper break in days. She explained that one of their assistants had resigned without notice, leaving everyone scrambling to catch up on several client files.“Just help us sort these,” she said, dropping a thick folder on Anna’s desk. “We have a meeting with the Henderson Group at two, and these need to be ready before then.”Anna nodded. “Okay.”“Be careful with them. Some of the information is confidential.”“I understand.”The moment Mrs. Elaine walked away, Anna got to work. For the next three hours, she barely looked up from her desk. She checked invoices, arranged contracts, cross-referenced figures, and went through pages of informatio

Georgia dropped Anna off at the mansion, saving her the trouble and extra expense of getting a taxi. Anna thanked her before getting out, but Georgia still looked at her with that same worried expression she’d been wearing ever since Anna told her everything. Anna didn’t blame her. After everything that had happened, she probably looked like someone who needed to be watched. The moment she stepped inside, exhaustion hit her hard. She didn’t have the strength to explain anything to the maids, and she definitely didn’t want to see that look of pity on their faces. She had spent enough of the day feeling sorry for herself. Anna stared at her husband, asked; “Jacob, who is she?” “Anna, I told you to respect my privacy,” he snapped.“Privacy?” She let out a short, disbelieving laugh. “You’re talking about privacy when you’re cheating on your wife?”His jaw tightened. “Lower your voice.”“Who the hell is your safe space, Jacob?” She stood up from the bed, her hands trembling at her sides. “I’m asking you a question!”Jacob looked exactly like a man who had finally been caught. He didn’t deny it, or claim she was misunderstanding anything, didn’t even try to lie.Instead, he took a slow breath and said; “Now that you know about her, let’s have an open marriage, Anna.”Anna stared at him.
