Chapter 219

Patrick Banks

~•~

After my conversation with my mother, she asked me to leave the room. I still wasn’t sure if she believed me or not.

But a few minutes later, she called me back.

“I’ll send my driver to pick up the kids from Lisa in the morning.”

A sense of relief washed over me.

I had no idea what she said to Lisa but I was grateful that she was releasing the kids. I was even tempted to ask my mother to tell Lisa that she should stop whatever she was planning.

But I didn’t want to push my luck.

And it would just make me look guilty.

“Thank you, but is Lisa in New York?” I asked curiously.

My mother didn’t answer.

“You’ll see your kids in the morning.” She said, her voice faint. “You can sleep in one of the guest rooms, it’s too late and I don’t want you driving at night.”

I wasn’t even planning on leaving the house that night when I just found out she was sick.

“Okay.” I nodded before turning around to leave. But I paused when I got to the door. “Are we good n

Chapter 218Valerie Will ~•~“What do you mean you can’t bring the kids back home tonight?” I demanded, my voice rising in anger. “Patrick, are you out of your mind?” “Valerie, calm down.” He said with a frustrated sigh. “I tried my best. She refused to give them to me. What did you expect me to do?” I scoffed. “I don’t know. She’s your family member, find a way to deal with her.” I said, my patience was wearing thin. “You promised me you were going to bring them back.” “I didn’t make any promises, Valerie.” I rolled my eyes. How was he so comfortable with the boys being away? The thought of them being with Lisa made my skin crawl. Who knows what she was even doing to them? I wouldn’t be able to get an ounce of sleep if he didn’t bring them back. “I asked you for her number and you refused, you said you would take care of it,” I replied through gritted teeth. Patrick let out a deep exhale. “Valerie, she wants us to confess about that night.” He continued, his voice quiet. M

Chapter 217Patrick Banks ~•~I let out a deep breath, bracing myself for what she was about to say. “I’m listening, tell me.” I swallowed hard. There was a pause. Then she let out a sigh. “I want you to go to the media…I don’t know, whatever. You have to confess to everyone about what you did that day.” She said, her tone serious. “You and Valerie.” My heart skipped a beat. Did she know about it? Did Benjamin tell her about everything? “What?” A low gasp escaped my lips. “What are you talking about?” I asked, feigning ignorance. I had no idea what she knew, but I couldn’t take any chances by acknowledging that Valerie and I actually did something. “Oh, please.” She responded with a dry scoff. “And while you’re at it, I would also like you to confess to the fact that you also got Benjamin killed.” I couldn’t hold back a laugh. “You’re being ridiculous right now, Lisa,” I said, my tone sharp. “Valerie and I didn’t do anything. And I most certainly didn’t get my brother kill

Chapter 216Patrick Banks ~•~“Why didn’t anybody tell me she was sick?” I yelled as I walked up the stairs. The housekeeper trailed behind me. “She specifically told us to keep it away from you.” She replied, her voice low. Wow. I couldn’t believe what was happening. Did she hate me that much? Apparently, my mother had been seriously sick for a few weeks. And she didn’t care to tell me about it. Nobody cared to tell me about it. The housekeeper was even skeptical about letting me go upstairs at first, she was scared that my mother would be upset. I had to threaten her before she eventually stepped out of the way. When I got to my mother’s room, I didn’t even bother to knock on the door, I just pushed the door open. Fortunately enough, she was awake. When she saw me, she had a puzzled expression on her face. “Who let you inside? Who even let you up here?” She asked, her voice faint. “I’ll make sure they get fired.” I held back a scoff. “Nobody is getting fired, Mom,” I sai

Chapter 215Valerie Will ~•~“I’ve been trying to reach you. You’ve been ignoring my calls. I asked you out to lunch and you declined—.” I zoned out of the conversation after Damien kept on whining about my communication skills on the other end of the phone. “Valerie! Are you even listening to me?” He snapped, his voice rising in anger. “Damien, I’ve had a long day and I’m not in the mood for your tantrums.” My grip tightened on the steering wheel as I guided the car to another street. “Tantrums? I’m just trying to let you know that what you’re doing isn’t fair. I’ve been really patient with you but you’ve been treating me like I’m nothing.” “I’m sorry about that but I’m not in the mood for this,” I replied, my voice cold. I honestly didn’t want to pick up his call at first, but he kept pestering me and I just wanted to get it over with. It wasn’t like I was mad at him or anything. I just had other important things to focus on in my personal life. My kids were still missing.

Chapter 214Patrick Banks ~•~“Why did you ask the police to leave and stop their investigation?” Valerie’s mom demanded with a hint of confusion in her voice. “Don’t you care about finding the kids?” I swallowed hard. “Just go home.” Her brows furrowed. “I don’t understand you, Patrick.” I exhaled sharply. “I know who took them, just go home. I’ll take care of everything.” I replied, my voice sharp. She let out a defeated sigh. “Fine.” She responded reluctantly before heading back to the car. After she left, I entered my car. I couldn’t believe that she would take the kids. How long had she been planning it for and how did she know it was the right time to strike? She was the least person who came to my mind when I thought about the list of people who could have taken the kids. When I saw her name flashing across my phone, I knew what she wanted to say immediately. I wasn’t surprised that she reached out to me on her own. I mean, the last time we spoke, she made it clear t
