Killian.

My mind is in a haze, torn between stopping Tamara as she goes and facing Chloe, who's right there, staring at me, waiting for some sort of explanation.

I don't have any.

Listening to Tamara threatening to take her mother off of that hospital had hit me hard.

She isn't bluffing. Tamara can be really stubborn when she really wants to.

If she takes her mom away, then it's done.

I can't pin her down anymore, she'll leave me forever.

I can't let my anger get between her mother's health tho

~~Melanie~~It's okay to start over, my friends had said. But how do I erase almost a decade of memory.Hurtful memories.I still have them, the bad nauseating dreams.Even this morning. I'd wake up trembling at least twice every week.It used to be worse.Happens practically every day.But the virtual therapy did it's thing. I got better, I mean for a while I believed it'll all get better.Tian made me believe that.Made me believe I deserve more. But it wasn't for long.Nathan found out anyway. He took my phone and there's no way to reach Tian. But I think that's for the better.I can't hope. I can't believe. Life has thought me that trust matters. That hoping is useless. The moment I spent with Tian was one of my happiest but that's it.A beautiful memory I'd carry forever. That's all it'll ever be.My phone dings. A new device Tamara got me.It's Hazel calling.I know they're all scared. They call more than five times in a day.Probably thinking I'd hurt myself.I mean, in their d

~~Hazel~~I share a look with Tamara and for a moment, we both don't say anything.Just stare at Melanie who's looking a little human than she was the past week. Her bruises are fading, even though her eye bags are still there.I clear my throat. “Have you been sleeping at all?”She nods. She's barely spoken a long sentence at a go. It's been like this since she showed up at Tamara's doorstep.Caroline is late now, and Tammy's aunt is with her new husband.Tamara left this house for Melanie, while we wait till she's willing to talk.Of course this has everything to do with Nathan, I can feel it, even Tamara knows this.Tamara's gaze drifts to me, then back at Melanie. “Do you need anything?” she asks. She shakes her head. “No, there's still groceries left in the kitchen,”“Do you perhaps want to go shopping?” Tamara chips in sharply.Melanie gives a faint smile. “Okay, you both stop,” a chuckle slips out. “I feel like I'm a kid in an intense adult interview.”I exhale, at least her se

~Hazel~~I stared at the contract in my hand, not sure why I stopped breathing.I had just passed the last stage of the test. They had chosen me and asked to pick up the contract.I thought giving up the child was the scariest part but this…?Slowly, I shift my head to the woman currently interviewing me, stunned.Fiona has a pair of glasses perched below her nose.“Is there a problem Miss Simpson?” she asks with a calm down. The chair burns me. I shift, pointing down at the part that has me on the edge.“Not particularly,” I managed. “But I have a question.”“Sure, ask.” she says with a warm smile. I drag in a sharp breath. “The conception part, it says it's the conventional way,”Fiona nods. “Do you have a problem with that,”“How's it going to be done?” I blurt out.Ok. That was stupid.I'm just freaking out.She pauses, takes me in and then a smile breaks through her face. “You see, the would-be father wants it the traditional way but if you're not okay with it we could —,”I wa

Tamara.Three months after mom's demise….“I think this dress would've been great in red,”“Honey, you look as glamorous as ever. Absolutely breathtaking.” Killian whispers into my ear, curling his arm around me from behind.I chuckle. “You're only saying that to make me happy.”He kisses my cheeks and slips in front of me. “No babe. Red, black, blue, they're all your color. And black fits just perfect,”I smile, staring right into the mirror. He's not wrong but I still think red would be great.I tuck a stray strand of hair behind my ear. “You think..?”He inches closer, and envelopes me, his palm lies flat against my lower back as he sniffs my neck. “One hundred percent.” He murmurs. His breathing changes — softer now, deeper. I know what this is.“No,” I say quickly, stepping back. “Back away, mister. We need to leave,”That slows him. He groans. “Do we really have to be present?” He asks, closing the gap between us. “I could call Mom now and tell her we won't make it. It's that sim

Killian. We're all seated at our usual spot, eyes on Damon. He's actively avoiding our gaze.“You saw a girl and ran off like that,” Seb starts, holding in his laughter.Damon rolls his eyes. “I didn't run.”I fight a snort. “Of course you didn't,” I sneered. “Out with it, Damon. That can't be nothing,”Dare I say he's been acting weird.Seb nods, taking a sip from his glass.Damon takes a deep breath. “I want a kid,”“Huh?” Seb almost chokes on his drink.I let his words sit, and then I rolled my eyes. “Your mom hasn't stopped, has she?”He runs a hand through his hair. “I can't keep running, Killian.”Seb sets his glass down. “So what's that got to do with the girl..?”“Well, I'm only doing it on the condition that I find the carrier myself. And… Hazel is who I want,”I pause. This isn't adding up.“Then why run from her?” I ask. There's a moment of pause.Damon shifts slightly in his chair and I can tell something's off.“It's complicated,” he says quietly.“It can't be that complic

Tamara. My eyes are on Hazel. From the look on her face, I can tell something's off. She's not even being subtle, it shows.I see the way her hands are curled under the edge of the table.I'm about to ask but she beats me to it.“Uhm– there's something I want to tell you,” she says, her tone neutral.I blink.Whatever this is, it sure has her on the edge.I narrow my eyes. “I'm all ears.” I say even though my heart is hammering in a weird rhythm.I know Hazel. I know that look.“I…” she starts, glancing up to hold my gaze. “I'm going to be carrying a baby,”It took me a second to place that. “A baby?” I repeat, lifting my brows. “You want to take either Keon or Kyle?” I ask, eyes wide in confusion. She fights a chuckle. “No, Tammy. I'm going to get pregnant,”That stops me cold. What was it?Baby fever?I laugh. “Hazel, your jokes gets me, you know —,”I pause. She's not laughing.“Wait…you're actually serious?” She nods. “Yes, Tammy, and I don't want you to freak out.”“I'm not.
