Alyssa

I sat in my home office while Marcus stood opposite my desk his face looking more tired than usual.

He said we needed to go over security protocols for an hour but I could tell there was something else.

Something bigger.

“Alyssa,” he began his voice careful. “There is another development and It’s about Martin.”

I leaned back in my chair already feeling a knot form in my stomach. “Uncle? What does he want now?”

Marcus took a slow breath. “He is trying to collaborate with the Johnsons. He wants to form a business alliance.”

The words hit me like a physical blow.

I bolted up from my chair so fast it rolled back and hit the wall with a thud. “What?!” The word exploded from me loud and sharp in the quiet room. “That’s bullshit! Absolute bullshit! After everything? He wants to do business with that people?”

“Alyssa calm down,” Marcus said his hands raised in a placating gesture. “Martin doesn’t know, he has no idea about your past relationship with Damon Johnson. To him Johnson Hol

Alyssa The car ride home was completely silent but the tension from the party felt like a thick fog inside the car, I wanted nothing but to get away from him, his presence felt suffocatingly hot.I needed to breathe air that wasn't filled with his scent with the memory of his arm around me and his lips on me.As soon as the car stopped in front of my house, I didn't wait for him. I pushed the door open and rushed out, heading straight for the front door, my heels clicking loudly on the pavement."Alyssa."His voice stopped me cold. Fuck! No please. I turned around slowly in annoyance."What?" I snapped my voice shaking. "What do you want Ares? To give me another lecture? To tell me how irresponsible I am?"He took a step towards me. "No.""Then what? Do you want to tell me more things you've been hiding? Like the fact that you have a daughter?" The words burst out of me. I had been holding them in all night ever since I found out I couldn’t even wrap my head around the fact… it

Alyssa I walked to the bar already getting annoyed and tired, I wanted nothing but to leave… I got to the bar and my eyes scanning the crowd for any sign of the mysterious Malakai when I heard my name called out loud and clear across the room."Mss Hall! Get over here!"It was Damon. What the hell does he want now?He was standing with a group of his friends a smug cruel look on his face. My stomach tightened wanting to ignore him and walk away but I couldn't cause a scene so I walked over my heels clicking on the marble floor. As I approached one of his friends a man with a sneering smile laughed. "So the leech refuses to leave you alone Damon? Can't you get a restraining order?"Another one chimed in swirling his drink."She must have forgotten the way out.Seven years of being carried I guess she can't walk on her own."The third one had to add his, he sent me a disgusting look. "Look at her she can't live a day without you man. It's like Damon is the very air she breathes…. Path

AlyssaI stood in front of my mirror staring at my reflection. Marcus had finally convinced me to go to the stupid party, he said that Malakai might be there and didn’t want us to miss out the opportunity of seeing him to find out what he looked like.So I had to go.I had no choice.I put on a simple black dress. It was not too fancy but it was elegant It hugged every curve in my body in a nice way.I gave myself one final look in the mirror and took a deep breath before headed downstairs. When I got to the foyer Ares was already there waiting for me. He was wearing a black suit and he looked so handsome it was hard to breathe. His eyes moved over me from my head down to my feet and they lingered for a second I saw his jaw tighten.I walked up to him a small smirk on my face. "See something you like?" I asked my voice teasing. His eyes those icy blue eyes met mine. "Don't let it go to your head princess," he replied his voice a low gruff growl. "Let's go."The car ride was quiet a

Alyssa The cafeteria was noisy but sitting with Luke in our usual corner made it feel a little less awful he was ranting about a new project he was working on and how it has been draining him.He has no idea how much Damon has put be through for the pst few days I’ve been working here.“So,” Luke said taking a bite of his sandwich. “You ready for the big party tonight?”I looked at him, confused. “What party?”“Mr. Johnson’s birthday party! It’s tonight at his mansion….It’s a huge deal and all the staff are expected to be there. It’s basically mandatory.”My blood ran cold at the mention of the Johnson mansion. The place where I had lived for seven years, the place where I thought I was building a life, the place where I had taken everything away from me in a single night. Hell no!There is no way I’m going back there, I couldn’t go back there. I just couldn’t.“I’m not going,” I said my voice firm as I pushed my food around my plate my appetite gone.Luke looked surprised. “W

AlyssaI was lying on my bed the phone pressed to my ear. "I just don't know how much more of this I can take Sophia," I whispered my voice lased with tiredness."Every day it's something new. He humiliates me, he throws my work in the trash and today... today Rachel was there in his office and they both just... they made me feel horrible." I felt a fresh tear slide down my temple into my hair.Sophia's voice was comforting on the other end. "Alyssa you have to get out of there. That job isn't worth your sanity."My stomach growled loudly interrupting my self-pity. I hadn't eaten dinner. "I know I know but it’s not like I have a choice.” I sighed.“What do you mean?” She asked.I let out a sigh knowing couldn’t tell her at least not yet, “I'm starving… let me just go find something to eat I'll call you tomorrow, okay?"We said our goodbyes and I hung up dragging myself out of bed.I padded barefoot down the staircase and headed towards the kitchen thinking I'd just grab a piece of fru

Alyssa My heart was pounding as I stood at the front of the huge boardroom with all the important people were there, men in expensive suits, including Damon who was sitting at the head of the table with a cold look on his face. This was my big presentation I had worked on it for days making sure every slide was perfect. I wanted to prove to him that no matter how much he’d push me, he won’t make me quite.I clicked the button to start the presentation but what came up on the big screen was not my work. It was a mess. The slides were all wrong full of childish fonts and silly stupid pictures It was complete nonsense. Someone had swapped my file.I stood there frozen my mouth slightly open I felt like a complete fool.I could hear a few people in the room start to whisper and chuckle. How’s this possible? Who did this?Damon! It hasn’t be him.Damon stood up his face burning with anger. "I apologize everyone," he said his voice tight. "It seems there has been a… technical error.
