•Juliet’s POV•

My breath hitched in my throat as I felt Edward's lips brush against mine softly, his hand resting on my back while the other cupped my chin.

How did we come to this? Why did I allow him to kiss me? The question roared in my head as his lips grazed against mine, drawing fire along with it, an emotion that I had buried in my gut after James encounter coming back to the surface.

I pulled away slowly, my lips tingling from the contact. I didn't meet his eyes right away, afraid of what I might see. Or worse, what he might see in mine.

“Why did you do that?” I whispered, my voice barely steady. My heart thumping in my chest as I slowly looked up to meet his gaze. The affection in his eyes sent a chill down my spine.

His eyes searched mine with a desperate intensity. “Because I couldn’t hold back anymore. I’ve wanted to kiss you since the moment I saw you again. I needed you to feel it... to know how sorry I am.”

I drew in a shaky breath, placing a small distance between us,

•Vera POV•“Let me leave you guys to talk. I need to get on the other designers,” Eric said as he leaned in and kissed me softly on the lips before walking away.Once he was gone, I walked over to the chair and sat down, placing my hand on top of the brown, polished, sleek desk while Brooke stood opposite me.“I’d like to see the sample of designs you sketched for the event,” I said.Brooke stretched out her notepad toward me, and I collected it. “I must say, I was quite impressed by what I saw on the runway.”I flipped through the pages slowly. “This is fine, but it would need a few adjustments. A little slit here and there,” I said, pointing at one of the sketches. The dress was a fitted evening gown, long and flowing, with soft lines that hugged the waist before falling straight to the floor. The top had thin straps and a deep neckline that wasn’t too much, just enough to draw the eye. The fabric looked light, like silk, and the way she sketched the folds made it seem like it would

•Eric POV•“I didn’t know you already had plans of marrying someone else,” Brooke muttered with a cheesy smile.“How did you know that?” I asked, surprised. I hadn’t mentioned my plans to anyone except my mom, who would be in New York in a few days.Brooke tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear as she rolled her eyes. “Don’t forget I’m part of the family. Why would everyone in the family know about it and I don’t?”I sighed when it finally clicked who must have told her. “Thelma told you, right?” I arched an eyebrow at her, and she chuckled.“Jeez, that girl doesn’t know when to keep a secret.”“Well, now that I know, I’m happy for you,” she said. Her gaze dropped to the tablet in her hand when it made a slight sound.“I’ve got to go, Brooke. Don’t do anything stupid,” I muttered. She gasped, placing a hand on her chest. “Wow. So hurtful.”I walked through the crowd, my eyes searching for Vera. I spotted her standing at the other side of the hall with Mrs. Ryder and made my way

•Vera POV•The clapping felt louder than my thoughts as I stepped onto the stage. My heels hit the floor, and for a second, I almost forgot how to walk. I paused, then laughed softly, lifting my hands.“Okay, okay,” I said into the microphone. “If you people clap any louder, I’ll start shedding tears of joy again, and I don't want to ruin my makeup.”Laughter rolled through the hall, easing the tight feeling in my chest.I took a deep breath and looked around. The lights were bright, but I could still see faces. Smiling faces. Proud faces. Then my eyes found Juliet. She was sitting close to the runway, Jace beside her. She was smiling at me like she always did, calm, steady, like she wasn’t the one who had just changed my entire life. For a moment, my throat tightened.“I didn’t prepare a speech,” I admitted, shaking my head. “Because honestly, I didn’t even know this was happening today.”More laughter followed.“But standing here right now…” I paused, letting my eyes travel around t

•Juliet POV•The car slowed to a stop in front of a huge building, and Eric pulled into the driveway. Through the car window, I could see the building clearly. It was tall, skyscraper-like, and the shape was exactly how it looked in the pictures Eric had sent to me.“Wow, this building is dope,” Vera mumbled as she stepped out of the car.Eric walked over to open the door for me, and I got out, carrying Jace along with me. He held my hand as he looked up, his eyes fluttering with curiosity.“Okay, this is more than I expected,” Edward muttered, looking at Eric. “You did a great job here.”Eric smiled and looked in Vera’s direction, where she had already started taking pictures of the building.“Jules, you didn’t tell me you knew someone who owns such a prestigious fashion industry,” Vera said, turning to look at me. “I can work for them. Please introduce me to the owner.”I laughed. “Well, I would’ve done that, but I’m looking at the owner right now.”She turned hastily to look behind

•Juliet POV•“Mommy, can we go to Lana and Theo’s place today?”Jace’s small voice woke me up. I opened my eyes slowly and found him sitting close to me, his little hand resting on my chest as he leaned in to study my face.“My baby,” I murmured, brushing my hand over his chubby cheeks. “We’re going to see your friends, but not today.”He pouted, staring at me with big, curious eyes. “Why, Mommy?”I shifted on the bed and sat up, my eyes flickering toward Edward. He was still asleep. “Because we have an important event to attend,” I whispered. I placed a finger over my lips. “It’s Mommy’s little secret. Promise you won’t tell anyone?”He nodded quickly, and I pulled him into a hug, wrapping my arms around him. We stayed that way for a moment before I stood up. He followed closely behind me.Edward stirred and slowly sat up. “Seems you guys are awake before me.” He smiled. “Hey Buddy, why don’t you come and give Daddy a hug?”Jace turned and walked toward him while I headed into my wal

{I ended this story at some point with the previous chapter, but then I got this whole excitement that I should continue because I love writing this story and, just like you all, I’m curious about how Eric and Vera’s story would be. So this is the continuation of the story, and it would focus mainly on Vera and Eric. I know you all are as excited as I am, and a big thank you to everyone who has read this book to this point. You all are the major heartbeat of this story.}{One Week After}•Juliet POV•The cool breeze brushed against my face as I climbed down from the car. I pushed the loose strand of hair blocking my view away and exhaled softly, a strange wave of nostalgia settling in my chest as I stared at my mansion in New York.It had been a year in China, and I never expected to feel this relieved. Yet, standing here, looking at the house, my heart swelled with quiet joy.“Mommy, are we staying here for long?” Jace asked, bouncing on his feet, his excitement impossible to hide.E
