Troy

“Does Maya know?”

The question hung in the air between us, simple but loaded with implications I wasn't ready to unpack.

It wasn't a strange question, objectively. But coming from Fiona, with everything she'd just confessed, it felt like she was probing for something specific. Testing the boundaries of what I was willing to admit.

I started walking again, buying myself time to think. The bodega's neon sign flickered ahead, casting uneven shadows on the empty sidewalk.

"No," I said finally. "She doesn't."

The answer felt inadequate, but it was the truth. Maya had no idea about our connection, and I'd worked hard to keep it that way.

My mind drifted back to that day when Victor finally told me everything. I'd been sitting in his study, surrounded by all that expensive furniture and artwork, feeling like I was in a museum instead of someone's home.

"Your mother wants to see you," he'd said, not bothering with small talk. Victor had never been one for gentle approaches.

  • Divorced My CEO Husband, He Came Begging   The Last Thing She Saw

FionaThe notification on my phone made my stomach drop. I'd sent that message hours ago, before I'd even left for the club, when I was still drunk enough to think begging might work. Please, Daniel. I just need to see you. Five minutes. His response had come through just now, brutal in its simplicity:Get a life, Fiona. Find someone else to fix your daddy issues.I stared at the screen, reading it twice, then a third time, like the words might rearrange themselves into something less humiliating. They didn't."Everything okay?" Troy asked, but I was already sliding that practiced smile back into place."Everything's fine. Just... work stu

  • Divorced My CEO Husband, He Came Begging   Everything Went Still

Maya"Will you be using the file against Robert?" Vincent's question followed me all the way to Russo Designs, echoing in my head like a song I couldn't shake. The question followed me through the elevator ride to the thirty-second floor. It followed me past the reception desk where the receptionist still gave me that same barely concealed hostility she'd perfected over the years. It followed me down the hallway to Giuseppe's office, which I guess was technically my office now, though I still couldn't bring myself to sit in his chair.Would I use it? The flash drive felt heavy in my purse, like it was made of lead instead of plastic and silicon. All that evidence.I'd arrived early, maybe thirty minutes before the meeting was supposed to start. Partly because I wanted time to prepare, but mos

  • Divorced My CEO Husband, He Came Begging   Does Maya Know?

TroyOutside, the temperature had dropped further. Fiona immediately wrapped her arms around herself, shivering."Two blocks that way," I said, pointing. She took three steps, wobbling on her heels, before stopping. "I can't. My feet are killing me.""Are you serious right now?""These shoes weren't made for walking, Troy. They were made for standing around looking pretty at parties where everything you need is brought to you on silver trays."I couldn't tell if she was being sarcastic or just brutally honest. Either way, it was probably the most self-aware thing she'd said all night."Fine. Take them off and I'll carry you again."

  • Divorced My CEO Husband, He Came Begging   No Food in 24 Hours Diner

TroyThe diner looked different up close—older, grimier, with that particular smell unique to places that never close: burnt coffee, industrial cleaner, and decades of grease embedded in every surface. Through the windows, I could see a handful of night owls scattered among the booths, most hunched over phones or laptops.Fiona struggled with her shoes, trying to balance on one foot while sliding the other into a stiletto. She wobbled dangerously."Just—hold on to my arm," I said, offering it reluctantly. She hesitated only a moment before grabbing me, her fingers digging into my bicep harder than necessary. Once she'd managed to get both shoes on, we headed inside, the bell above the door announcing our arrival with a cheerful jingle that felt out of place at nearly 4 AM.

  • Divorced My CEO Husband, He Came Begging   Reluctant

Troy"I'm hungry."I looked at Fiona sprawled across my couch, hair a mess, makeup smudged, dress wrinkled beyond salvation. The Kingston heiress reduced to this—a drunk, disheveled mess in my living room."Of course you are," I said, not bothering to hide my irritation. She stared at me with those unfocused eyes, waiting for me to solve this problem like I'd solved all her others tonight. Saving her from Jackson. Getting her out of the club. Bringing her somewhere safe. Now I was supposed to feed her too."Can you even stand?" I asked. She pushed herself up, swaying slightly but managing to stay upright. "See? Fine.""Congratulations. You've mastered
