ログインI was so tired that I accidentally fell asleep in Zephyr’s arms.
The worst part? He didn’t even wake me up or carry me to his bedroom. When I finally woke up, it was already a new day. I rubbed my temple as I slowly opened my eyes, feeling slightly dizzy from sleeping too long. The unfamiliar surroundings immediately caught my attention, and I sat up abruptly. My gaze swept across the room. It was large. Luxurious. Decorated in shades of black and silver. Then I noticed it. The scent. Cedarwood. My heart skipped a beat. Zephyr’s pheromone. I lowered my head and inhaled the scent lingering on the sheets and blanket. My cheeks burned. I felt like a complete pervert. And yet… His scent made me feel safe. Comfortable. So much so that I didn’t want to leave the room at all. Knock. Knock. I flinched at the sudden sound. I didn’t want to get out of bed. But this wasn’t my house. I couldn’t be rude. Reluctantly, I wrapped the blanket around myself and walked toward the door. I opened it slowly. A middle-aged housemaid stood there, holding a neatly folded pile of clothes. “Good morning, Mrs. Cole,” she greeted warmly. “I brought you some clothes. Mrs. Layla is letting you borrow hers for now.” I blinked. Layla Lloyd… Darren’s wife. I hadn’t expected that. We had only met a few times during my marriage to Rowan. But even from those brief encounters, I knew she was kind. Genuinely kind. “Thank you,” I said softly. “This is only temporary,” the maid added. “Mr. Lloyd has already instructed us to buy new clothes for you later today.” I bit the inside of my cheek. Uneasy. Zephyr had already spent so much on me yesterday. There was no way I could repay him anytime soon. “Breakfast will be ready in thirty minutes,” she continued. “Please take your time to freshen up before heading to the dining room.” I nodded. Before she left, I asked, “Is Zephyr home?” “Yes. Leader returned an hour ago and is currently resting in another room.” My heart sank. He was resting somewhere else… because of me? After everything he had already done… “Thank you for letting me know,” I murmured. Once the door closed, I placed the clothes on the bed and walked into the bathroom. I stopped in front of the sink. My eyes fell on the neatly arranged items on the counter. Floral shampoo. A soft pink loofah. Lotions. Makeup wipes. All clearly meant for a woman. I blinked in disbelief. Did Zephyr always keep these here? I shook my head immediately. “No… he doesn’t smell like flowers.” I picked up the shampoo. Still sealed. New. He had prepared all of this… For me. “How am I supposed to repay him…?” I took a quick shower, using the floral products. By the time I was done, my skin carried a soft, lingering scent. I didn’t even need perfume anymore. Half an hour later, I stepped out wearing a soft pink sweater and white pants. Simple. But comfortable. And somehow… flattering. I paused. What was I even supposed to say to Zephyr? Everything between us still felt… Awkward. The longest interaction we’d had was— On the bed. And all I had done… Was moan and scream his name. How embarrassing. “Samantha.” His voice startled me. I turned. Zephyr had just stepped out of the room next to mine. “Did you sleep well?” he asked. I swallowed. My eyes instinctively scanned him. Black T-shirt. Baggy black pants. Simple. Yet somehow… He looked even more attractive than before. And his hair— Messy. But in a way that made him look even more— I bit the inside of my lip. What was wrong with me? Since when did I think like this? Was this because of the bond? “I slept… too well,” I said, fidgeting with my hair. “I’m sorry if I caused any trouble.” “You’re not a bother at all,” he replied. “I marked you. You’re my responsibility now.” I smiled faintly. No one had ever treated me like this before. With Rowan… I had been the one managing everything. Providing. Until he drained me of everything I had. Back then, I didn’t think it was wrong. But now… Something deep inside me felt… happy. Being taken care of. Being valued. “Then… thank you,” I said softly. “Always.” He raised his hand as if to pat my head. But hesitated. And instead, placed it on my shoulder. “Let’s go to the dining room,” he said. “My mother and Eleanor are staying at the villa outside, so it’ll just be us and Darren’s family.” I lowered my gaze. Eleanor… Of course she wouldn’t stay. She didn’t approve of me. And she had made that very clear. But there was nothing I could do. If someone hated me… I could only endure it. As we entered the dining room, a cheerful voice rang out. “Hello!” A little girl, around six years old, ran up to me with bright eyes. “Are you going to marry my uncle?!”I offered to take Carla to dinner, but she politely declined, saying she wanted to visit her family in another city.“Take care of yourself, Carla,” I said, “and make sure you stay close to your bodyguards.”Zephyr had assigned three werewolves from the Silverclaw Pack to protect Carla. It might seem excessive, but considering the lengths Rowan would go to silence her, it was a necessary precaution.“Please take care of yourself as well, Mrs. Cole.” She smiled. “I really hope you’ll be happier with Mr. Lloyd.”I only gave her a smile in return. For now, at least Zephyr was able to make me feel safe and sound.I then got into the car with Zephyr, and I waved my hand toward Carla as a goodbye.“I still feel bad for her,” I said as the car pulled away from the courthouse.Zephyr looked at me. “Samantha, you don’t have to feel guilty for something you didn’t do. Carla suffered because of Rowan, not because of you.”I lowered my head. “I know, but it’s hard not to feel responsible in some
As the judge left the courtroom, Rowan immediately approached me just as I was about to leave.“Samantha, you still have a chance to return to me,” he said. “We can start over, and I promise I will be a better person for you.”I glared at him, feeling disgusted with my soon-to-be ex-husband. “You’ve said those words hundreds of times, but it is nothing more than an empty promise.”Rowan’s jaw clenched, but he forced a smile, trying to keep his composure. “This time I mean it, Samantha. Look, I know I’ve made mistakes, but don’t let the people around you manipulate you into thinking I’m the enemy.”I raised an eyebrow and scoffed. “The only person manipulating me is you, Rowan.”Rowan raised his hand to touch my face. But before he could put his fingers on it, someone pushed him away.“Back off, Rowan.” Zephyr glared at him.Rowan stumbled slightly but quickly regained his balance. His eyes narrowed as he looked at his uncle. “She’s still my wife, so why can’t I touch her?”Zephyr grit
"Objection, Your Honor!" Reece exclaimed, "This suggestion is absolutely reprehensible. I will not accept any suggestion to harm my client in the courtroom to protect her dignity."The judge seemed to dislike the idea as well, so he said, "Mr. Anders, this is a court, not a circus. Your suggestion is denied."I clenched my fists until my nails dug into my skin. I understood that Rowan was barbaric and heartless, but I hadn’t expected him and his lawyer to go this far.To suggest harming a victim of abuse? Ridiculous.Only a truly heartless person would suggest such a thing in court.I turned slightly to look at Zephyr. He was the one who had told me not to show my emotions in court, but he looked even angrier than I felt.He looked like he wanted to punch Rowan right in the face."Thank you, Your Honor." Reece nodded, then continued, "To corroborate the evidence, I have submitted an affidavit from a former housemaid who worked at Mr. Fell’s house for three years."Rowan’s face darkene
As two weeks passed, I finally had to attend the hearing. I hadn’t expected Zephyr to come with me because of his busy schedule, but he decided to drop all his workload for one day to accompany me."You really don’t have to do this." I lowered my head and looked at my shoes on the ground. "Mr. Lawson and his team will accompany me into the courtroom.""They’re your legal team, while I’m your mate. We’re not the same," Zephyr replied firmly, his tone leaving no room for argument.I felt a warmth creep up my cheeks. His words were simple, but they were enough to let me know that someone cared about me and would be sitting behind me in the courtroom the whole time.As we approached the courthouse steps, Zephyr gently placed a hand on my back, guiding me forward. "Listen, Samantha," he began, his voice softer now, "I know it will be hard for you to face your abuser again, but I need you to stay calm in the courtroom.""Don’t let your emotions control you, so he has no chance to manipulate
I was taken by surprise because I had never expected Layla and Ashley to visit me anywhere other than the dining room."Yes, of course." I opened the door wider. "Please come in."I immediately picked up the papers scattered everywhere. "I’m sorry, my room is a bit of a mess right now."Layla glanced at the script and immediately seemed to feel guilty for coming in without notice. "Did we disturb you, Samantha?""No! Not at all. I’m glad you came." I clapped my hands once after placing the papers on the table and let them sit on the couches. "So, which muffins should I try?"Ashley replied enthusiastically, "All of them! We usually bake cookies for the New Year, but Mommy and I want to bake something new this year!"I bit my inner lip when I saw there were six muffin cakes on the tray, each topped with colorful decorations, sprinkles, fruit, and a generous dollop of whipped cream.Too many calories."Well, I don’t think I can eat them all at once," I said with a smile, "but I’ll try t
Reece nodded. “Exactly. He knew what he was doing. He manipulated me into selling my assets.”I had earned every dime and every asset by sacrificing my blood, sweat, and tears. But Rowan could get it all by simply getting me to sign a piece of paper.Selling my assets… my ass, I didn’t even get a dime from him!Franca straightened her posture and met my gaze. “However, we can get those assets back if we can prove that you sold them under duress.”She continued, “Fortunately, the messages he sent, especially the threats, will help strengthen our case.”I clenched my fists, a hint of anger flickering in my eyes. “Do whatever it takes. He doesn’t deserve a penny of what I’ve worked for.”Reece lifted the corners of his mouth. “Don’t worry, Mrs. Cole. We’re not called the best legal team for nothing,” he said confidently. “We’ll make sure you get what was yours.”After discussing all of the matters, the attorneys promised to take care of my court schedule and to learn more about my case.
