The moderate-sized room held an air of gloom. The whole place felt so different as if she had just found herself there for the first time. The bed served as a cruel reminder of her true reality.

Delaney tossed restlessly on the bed, trying so hard to force herself to sleep, but sleep eluded her as Adonis's words kept replaying in her head, "I have fallen helplessly in love with you, Delaney."

'Oh, God!' frustration surged through her as she tried to shake off the nagging suggestions her heart kept coming up with.

She glanced at the window, and the evening sun cast its warm glow into the room, adding to her restlessness. It was almost time.

It's been barely two hours since she came back from his mansion, but she's been unable to shake his thoughts off her mind.

Her heart ached each time she remembered how unhappy he looked when it was time for her to leave. His eyes bore a hint of sadness as they peered into the depths of her eyes as if trying to speak to her soul.
