Chapter 15 : The Reunion

Camilla POV

The discovery of my child's deteriorating health plunged me into a chasm of anguish. I couldn't bear the pain any longer, nor muster the will to speak to anyone. Gently, I positioned him comfortably on the bed, ensuring he wouldn't suffer further even in my absence or the absence of anyone. Without a word to either Britney or Mira, I left the room.

"He's going to be okay," I overheard heard my sister reassure Mira as I stepped out the door.

The overwhelming pain clung to me, my heartfelt encased in an impenetrable wall, unable to function. Tears threatened to spill with every step back to my office, but I held them back. My sister seeing me cry would be demoralizing for her or even Mira,

I should be the ray of hope in their path.

"I have to be strong for both myself and my family," I muttered, steeling myself as I entered my office. "They can't see me like this. I need someone who understands my pain to be around me also".
