Salvatore’s POV
I have been in alot of situations like this. This wasn’t the first time an enemy was sending an incredibly perfect looking woman to me to test if I would fall for her so he would start to plan by befall. It has never worked so far, and I wasn’t about to allow it to happen this time.
After I checked on Enzo, I headed down to the dungeon using the elevator, because there were way too many stairs and I was feeling stressed. I didn’t want to sleep without getting to the bottom of this, also. When I got down to my dungeon which had materials used for torture so gruesome that it made me feel disturbed sometimes, I creaked the door open.
The ambiance of the dungeon was enough to bring out the truth in a lot of people, and it was tested and trusted. The few of them that chose to cover up for someone instead of saving their lives mostly left with a few limbs missing or sometimes even as a corpse. As nice as Eduardo was, he was behind most of the murders here and he doesn’t have an ounce of regret after it probably because he thinks they deserve it, which they most of the time do.
I headed to one of the empty cells which I supposed the lady was in. I supposed her body had been scanned in case there were any weapons, so I opened up the door. She was sitting on the ground, her hands encircling her legs to her chest. She looked so helpless and scared that I was tempted to let her go, but somewhere in me, something protested against that.
“Are you ready to tell me who sent you here?” I crouched down to her level.
Upon closer inspection, I could see the bruises on her face. There was a purple spot on her neck, and a palm mark on her cheek. She looked disheveled, scared and cold. Another temptation to touch her face whooshed by me but I quickly shrugged it off.
“No one sent me here,” her tiny voice murmured. “I was trying to get some fresh air, I told you, when someone chased me and the best option I had was to get into your car boot which was slightly open.” She narrated.
“Why would someone be chasing you?” I raised a brow. “That place held the most influential people in this city. You would think it would have no room for petty criminals.”
“He is not a criminal,” she turned her gaze to me, looking at me in my eyes for the first time since I came here. “He is my husband’s guard. If he took me back to him, then something worse than this,” she gestured at her face. “Would happen to me.”
My eyes glanced briefly at the bruises again, then back to her sorrowful yet alluring eyes.
“Who is your husband?” I dared to ask.
She looked away, her throat working up and down, “I… I can’t tell you.”
“Why is that?” I pressed further.
“He is going to kill me if he finds out I told anyone about this,” she said, then she quickly turned to face me. “I swear on my life, I don’t have an ulterior motive coming here. What I told you is the truth, and I wished I could prove it to you but I can't, unfortunately.”
“What did you expect when you escaped in someone’s car? Didn’t you think you would fall into worse hands than whoever… this your husband is.” I asked her.
“I did. I weighed the options at the moment, and falling into the hands and staying at the mercy of a stranger seemed better than facing this again.” Her voice broke at the end of her sentence, and I could swear I felt a little bit of humanity twitch in me.
“So what do you want from me now?” I asked. “Does sitting here, in my dungeon, feel more alluring to you than your husband’s place or what?”
She sucked in a sharp breath, then her eyes darted down to the floor slowly. She looked like she was about to cry, which I would hate because I didn’t want things to get weird. I wasn’t a fan of sitting near emotional women, because I would be too stunned to say anything. She looked like she had been through a lot, and perhaps she needed my help.
This was against my rules. I didn’t let strangers in, especially not a beautiful woman like her that could be sent to me as a weapon. I shouldn’t trust her, but for the first time in my life, I was choosing to ignore the voice at the back of my head. I knew if I didn’t help her, the poor girl was probably going to face a situation so terrible and unimaginable.
I have always seen myself as a heartless man, but that, I couldn’t stomach. I would let her stay with me here for a while before she finds something to do, and then she would leave.
“Listen,” I voiced out, and her eyes darted to me almost immediately. “You could stay here for a while, but we should get this straight first. This isn’t your new home or anything.”
She looked surprised at first, then suddenly her eyes lit up as if I had just offered her the world. She threw her hands around my shoulder, taking me by surprise, then planted a little kiss on my lips. I felt like a million galaxies had exploded in me as she leaned back, staring at me so happily and elated. What the fuck just happened to me?
“Thank you so much.” Her eyes were filled with so much gratitude.
It baffled me how the first lady I have ever taken down to my dungeon made me feel something no one has ever made me feel. That felt so… surreal. I tried to push it back to my head as I got up to my feet, and she excitedly did so too. We left the dungeon, and we met a guard of mine standing in front of the door.
I called for his attention, and he rushed towards me, “Yes sir?”
“Take her to an empty bedroom,” I ordered. “Have some guards watch her room also.”
He nodded before they both left, and I dared not take a glance at the lady. I wasn’t stupid. As much as I wanted to help her, my suspicions were not completely clear. I headed upstairs to my room to spend more time with my son, hoping to the Lord that I forgot about what the lady’s touch on my skin ignited in me.
Sofia's POVWith eyes as wide as saucers, I took in the room that I had been given. It was nothing like the one I had in Allesandro's house, this one was bigger and wider and the view was beautiful.Painted green with a huge princess bed neatly made in the middle, I couldn't stop thinking of how lucky I was. When I had been pulled away from the dungeon, nothing had prepared me for this beautiful room that I had been given. Instead, the numerous thoughts running through my head at that moment had caused a cold chill down my spine. Salvatore didn't seem to be a ruthless guy, contrary to the image that he was known all over the city, I could tell he was different, my fingers strayed unconsciously to my lips. The same lips that I had placed gently on his and his stunned reaction had blown me away. Somehow, I knew that I would want to do the same thing if he was close again. Flicking my head to the side, I tried to get rid of the thought in my head but it seemed to be stuck in there.
Salvatore's PovRubbing my forehead gently with my index finger, I sighed deeply. I had searched everywhere for Enzo but he was nowhere to be found, although this rarely happened, there were times when he could be extra mischievous and when that happened, he went missing for hours non-stop. The creaking of the door jolted me out of my daydream and the frown on my face turned into a smile when I saw him on top of Eduardo's shoulder, pouting his lips gently. "Is something wrong?" I stood up from the chair that I was sitting on, taking steps toward them. Stretching out my arms at Enzo, I let him move gently into my arms before dropping him on the table." That's my boy" I patted his shoulders gently, causing him to chuckle gently. I knew that he loved that when I acted like he was an adult already "What is wrong?" I could sense it, the change in Eduardo's mood, he was just like an open paper before me and I could read him properly "Why did you have to do that?" He asked, with a fist
Sofia's POVTaking a last glance at the boy who was still on Eduardo's shoulder, I bit my nails nervously. Could it be that he was Eduardo's son? That must be the only reason why he was this protective of him, aside from that, there was no other reason that I could come up with. Pushing the door to my room open, I let my mind run wild, just thinking of the way he had yelled and glared at me like I was trash, Something that he couldn't wait to get rid of broke me. Staying far away from him and his son would be the best thing to do, I knew what I had to do if I was to stay away from trouble, it was to avoid Eduardo and his son just like they were a plague, that seemed like the only reasonable thing to do. Plopping on the soft princess bed, a moan escaped from my lips at how warm it felt. I could tell by the fragrance that the sheets on them had been newly washed and it was soothing to me. "Why are you not in the dungeon?" Eduardo had asked, with so much hate that I could feel in his
Salvatore's POVPushing the door open, I stepped in, sensing the tense atmosphere, I could feel it. The air around me was heavy and misty and somehow, I could tell right away that something wasn't right. Darting my eyes around, I fixed them on Sofia who was fiddling with her fingers, another extremely suspicious habit."Salvatore" she whispered when I took a step closer to her, "Is everything okay?" I asked while walking past her, she ran forward, standing in front of me with her arms stretched wide open. " Yes," she nodded, a smile on her face, " Everything is okay" she added, what was making her so nervous? It piqued my interest more and walking in a large stride toward the closet, I stood still when she held my wrist. My eyes strayed to her hand wrapped firmly around my wrist and she pulled away as though she was scalded by something hot. "Sorry," she apologized, biting into her lips, with her gaze averted to the ground.Pushing the closed door open, I placed a foot in, consc
Salvatore PovWas I too harsh? I couldn't stop thinking of how I had treated the old woman unfairly, gazing at the palm which I had wrapped around her neck, I knew that I had been too hard on her when I shouldn't have.I hadn't even given her a moment to defend herself and all that I had done was attack her, sighing deeply with a hand around my waist. I took a last glance at Sofia's room before walking toward one of the guards standing close by. When I walked away from her room, her eyes were misty and I could tell that she was about to cry. It had taken all of me not to caress her cheek gently, attempting to wipe away the tears that seemed to have brimmed in her eyes. Letting out a sigh escape from my lips yet again, I gestured at the guard to come closer. "Yes Don" his body was curved and his head facing the ground. "I want you to get me the woman who had walked out of the room I was in a while ago" I gave him the instruction but the stunned look on his face told me he knew noth
Sofia's POVPouting my lips, I plopped on the bed for what felt like the tenth time to me within a minute. Ever since the day Salvatore had walked away from the room after seeing Nana inside the room, I have been confined to the room, not moving an inch. Was I some sort of doll who was dressed beautifully just so it could wait for its owner? I wondered but on a second thought, I sighed. The doll which was dressed beautifully for its owner was better than I was because at least it knew that its owner would come for it one day but mine was different. Salvatore hasn't been here since the day he had seen Nana in here. Nana, I haven't seen her for a while now and I was hoping that she was okay wherever she was. Boom. Boom. Boom. The sound of guns being shot tore through the air again, sending shivers through my body. One would have thought I had gotten used to gunshots but that wasn't the case. Back at Allesandro's, it wasn't this frequent, here, it was as though they took pleasure i
Sofia's POVI watched as Zelda took a step forward, intending to confront Eduardo who still had his hands wrapped around the lady he had walked in with, not showing an act of remorse."How could you?" Her voice broke as she confronted him, she sounded just like a broken disk to me and it was annoying already. "How could you do this to me? I loved you, I gave you my all but instead, this is the way you paid me back, how could you hurt me in such a way?" I took a step back, watching her confront him, wait! Does that mean the person she was here to meet wasn't Salvatore but Eduardo?I raised my gaze, staring in the same direction as Salvatore but quickly withdrew my gaze when our eyes met. The look in his eyes and the way his eyes bore into me, causes me to fidget with my figure.I gulped in my spit, trying to get rid of it but it seemed to be stuck to my head. "Get a hold of yourself or you are going to hurt yourself, what exactly is wrong with you?" Eduardo asked," I thought that I
Salvatore's POV" I have told you countless times Eduardo, about having numerous relationships at the same time, I have given you orders countless times about this but still, you don't listen, what do you take me for, someone who you can do whatever you want to?" I was trying to wrap what had just happened around my head. Everything had happened in a split second, Zelda has been laughing hysterically but never would I have thought she was capable of doing something like this. Eduardo had his head bowed to the ground, averting his gaze and not wanting to meet mine. "I am sorry, I…. I never knew it would come to this" I glanced pitifully at the lone figure that was lying underneath the steps. She had rolled off the stairs before hitting the bottom and I was hoping that it would be nothing serious."Go" I wave a hand at him, dismissing him, he had better things to do. "And make sure she doesn't end up dying" I added, when he scooped the strange lady in his arms. Crimson red blood fi
