His Threat

The next day morning she was dreading to see Quisito but was relieved to know that he had left with Lena to the hospital.

“It’s time for defense training, you are already 15 minutes late” one of her father’s men announced, making Kate groan in frustration. She loved the idea of being the healthy but just like most of the people, she hated to work for it.

Although this was one of the important things that kept her active inside the mansion, the idea of having 100 bodyguards and having to learn self defense despite the fact that she rarely went out puzzled her. She learned the mechanism of weapons, granites and a lot of other things in there. Just because she was capable of handling a gun, she was allowed to keep one in her night stand, closer to the bed.

Even though she was comfortable in using gun, the device became a nightmare after the incident that involved Quisito. It occurred 3 years ago and now she was 19 but the memory of that night has always bathed her in horror.

Kate was covered in sweat when she came out of the training room and due to her weary state, she almost collided with a person while walking through the hallway. But the person was more alert and moved out of her way quickly. She looked up to meet Quisito’s stoic face staring down at her. She opened her mouth but nothing came out, so she walked away, completely ignoring his presence.

For the rest of the day, she managed to stay clear of him, cunningly diverting eye contact when they were in the same room and by eating breakfast, lunch and dinner inside her locked room.

After putting the plates back in the sink, she told good night to her father, avoided Quisito and walked out to the garden where a lonely bench waited for her.

She went there often to get fresh air and to marvel at the enormous star-studded sky. Kate smiled and relaxed into the bench when she found her favourite star winking at her. She also made out more than two constellations in the sky that held the diamond treasures Kate had grown to adore the most. Little things like these kept her happy inside the broody mansion.

“There will be consequences..” Quisito’s voice boomed behind Kate, making her jolt out of her trance “....If you avoid me like that again”.

She scrambled to her feet to face him, grateful for not falling on her ass in a hurry.

“I don’t know what you are talking about” she spoke in a soft voice, looking everywhere but him.

“Oh really?....may be.....refreshing your memory about that night will make you......”

“Stop....” Kate’s voice wavered, her body trembling visibly.

“Why can’t we forget about that night and move on...?” she asked in a pleading tone.

“Well.....I suppose I can forget about it....” Quisito paused, putting on a thinking face but she had a gut feeling that he wasn’t going to let it go easily.

His next words turned her world upside down.

“....If you sleep with me”.
