ZANDER’s POV

The sound of music blaring sends me practically rolling over from bed sooner than my body expects. Panicked, I grab blindly for my phone to silence the damn thing, but no matter how many times I swipe at the screen, it doesn’t stop.

Groaning, I peek my eyes open, only to realize it’s not my phone. I also realize from looking at the screen that it’s only five in the morning.

“Fucking Sinclair. You’ve got to be shitting me.” I groan.

Aggravated thanks to being woken up only three hours after going to bed with a serious migraine from the all-nighter I pulled doing our research. I rip the covers off my body and head to the bathroom, following the dim glow from it. The annoying echo grows louder as I reach for the door, my assumption of the source obviously right.

“You asshole, turn that shit down,” I yell through the door.

The only sound that comes from the other side is the music…and the muffled sound of his voice.

“Fucking wonderful, Jayden.”

I pound on his door so hard, I’m surprised it doesn’t actually burst down. Its hinges shaking, echoing through the apartment when I shout at him again.

“Jayden! Turn off your fucking music!”

His mumbling stops, but I still don’t hear any footsteps or the music turn off.

And I’ve completely lost whatever patience I had this early in the morning, slamming my fist into the wood like a deranged lunatic. At this point, I’m ready to go full out crazy on his ass and blast through the wall if I have to.

“Jayden whatever your middle name is Sinclair! I swear on all things holy, I will break down this door if you don’t—”

A lazy eyed, mostly naked Jayden opens the door while I’m mid-swing, and I have to physically pull myself back so I don’t slam him in the face with my fist.

My eyes take in his body instinctively, and I clearly see he’s only in a pair of tight boxer-brief which does absolutely nothing to hide the morning wood he’s holding. Which he doesn’t care about letting me get an eye full of, because he makes no move to make himself more appear decent.

“Yes, Sinclair?” he mutters “You done fucking me with your eyes? Or would you like to help with my boner?” He asks. “There was no need to try breaking the door down.”

“You’ve got to be kidding me.”

“I just wanted you to turn off that goddamn alarm,” I bite out. “Which is still going off, I might add.”

Rather than waiting for him to do it, I slip into the bathroom and swipe away the notification on his phone, leaving us in wonderful, blissful silence.

“Thank you.” I mutter as I turn and leave the bathroom.

I barely managed to close my eyes before the music blasted—this time even way louder than it was.

“You’ve got to be kidding me.”

My head snaps towards Jayden, who, for some reason is now in the middle of a workout, speaker blasting, sweat clinging to his skin, his biceps and triceps flexing, since he for some reason decided to do this SHIRTLESS.

“Seriously?” I grit out.

He glances up, one brow arching and a mocking smirk. “Morning to you too, Roomie.”

Heading for class after the frustrating morning I had with Jayden. I grumble in defeat after remembering I still have to spend more than 10 months with him as my roommate.

“Fuck you, Universe. You could’ve given me literally anyone else as a roommate.” I complain to literally no one.

“As charming and bright as ever.” I glance behind me to see Tristian catching up to me, a knowing smirk plastered across his face.”

“What do you want?”

“Damn. Is that how you welcome your only friend in school?” I sigh but apologize.

“It’s Jayden.”

“I knew it.” Tristian snorts. “You’ve been roommate with him for how long? And you guys are already this incompatible.”

“I’m counting down the days until this semester ends.”

“You’re such a dramatic ass.”

“You know…..” Tristian changes his tone to a teasing one.

Not waiting for him to even finish his sentence, “I’d rather fail every class than go along with whatever crap you’re about to say.” I cut him off.

He raises his hand up in surrender, “Alright alright.”

Tristian and I headed towards the cafeteria after our last class. The moment we stepped inside, my eye immediately caught Jayden surrounded by his usual ‘cliques’. One sat on his lap while another sat beside him, having no shame and rubbing all of him.

“How pathetic.” I felt so irked out.

As if sensing my presence, Jayden looked up at me, cupped her ass and kissed her without a second thought. As though he was starving- still holding my gaze. I rolled my eyes and kept walking with Tristian.

“Get a room.” Jayden only smirked before pulling away, looking completely unfazed by the attention he was getting.

“See? Tristian said beside me “Look at you staring.”

“I don’t care.”

“If you say so.”

We walked past their table.

“Well, well,” Marcus called out. “Look who finally crawled out of his cave with his bodyguard.”

Before I could react, his foot shot out into my path.

I stumbled.

My tray slipped from my hands, crashing onto the floor as food scattered across the tiles. “Oops,” He said with a fake wince.

Before I could say anything, Tristan stepped forward. “The hell is your problem?” he snapped.

He shrugged, wearing an infuriating grin.

“Accident.”

“Bullshit. I saw you stick your foot out.”

“So what?” He shot back, standing to his feet.

Tristan replied, taking a step closer. “It had better be an accident because if that shit happens again, I’ll make sure you don’t have your dirty ass foot attached to you anymore.”

“So you better quit acting like a jackass, Marcus. Leave us the fuck alone.” I added.

A few students nearby stopped eating, their attention fixed on us. I placed a hand on Tristan’s shoulder.

Then Tristan clicked his tongue and stepped back.

“This isn’t over,” he muttered, glaring at the guy.

My jaw tightened as I brushed myself off, For the briefest second, my eyes lands on Jayden’s.

He wasn’t laughing.

His expression had gone strangely unreadable. His jaw tightened for the briefest second as he glanced at his phone, He stood up and walked away without a word, as though none of it had anything to do with him.

As we walked away, I didn’t bother looking back.

Scoffing under my breath, I turned and walked away with Tristan.

Asshole.

JAYDEN’s POVBy the time I got back to the dorm after stalling to avoid talking with Zander tonight, the hallway was dead quiet, probably because everyone was tipsy as hell. I finally stopped in front of the dorm door and unlocked it. The only light in the room came from the moon reflecting through. I shut the door as quietly as I could and looked toward the other side of the room when I heard shuffling.“Zander.” He was turned away from me, curled up beneath the blanket with his back facing the room. It looked like he had fell asleep moments ago. For a second, I just stood there.I couldn’t tell if he was asleep or pretending to be so I finally shifted gaze to scan through the room.My hoodie and most of my stuffs were sprawled on my bed.I frowned.“He’d moved all my stuffs from his side of the room, huh?” I said as I felt myself get a bit irritated by the thought of it.I picked it up the hoodie, brushing my thumb over the sleeve before tossing it onto my chair.“Guess this means h

ZANDER’s POVStanding at the corner of the room, looking like the lost one here, I spot Jayden at the center of the room, surrounded by a girl and another guy.“How amusing.” I muttered to myself “I should’ve been in the dorm resting from this stressful as fuck semester.” I groaned in distress.Just as I was about to walk up to Jayden to tell him I was leaving, a man who looked to be in his late twenties walked up to me.“Hi. Excuse me…?” I stared at him because there’s no way he could be talking to me.“Um……are you talking to me?” I pointed at myself and looked up to still find him staring and standing in my front.“Yeah…. don’t think an old man like me should be here?” He said with a hint of teasing under his tone.“It’s not that.” I giggled because his demeanor and his way of speaking didn’t sound or look similar.“It doesn’t look like you’re interested in being here at all.”“Well, I wouldn’t willing come to a party.” I looked around, “My fri—roommate forced me here.”“Who?”I sea

JAYDEN’s POVThe party was already in full swing by the time I finished getting ready.Music pounded through the walls of the dorm, voices echoing from down the hallway. People laughing, shouting, as the alcohol had already taken over them. I grabbed my phone and wallet before glancing toward the bathroom.“Are you done yet, Princess?” I called out to Zander, waiting for him to finish preparing.“Don’t call me Princess, asshole?” Zander shouted out from the bathroomThe door finally clicked open and for a second, my brain completely stopped working.Zander stepped out, adjusting the sleeve of a black lacey shirt with pearls decorating its neck and they hugged his arms before disappearing beneath fitted leather pants. The fabric revealed just enough of his skin to make looking away impossible. His silver necklace rested against his collarbone, a few rings decorated his fingers, and dark eyeliner framed his eyes perfectly. His lips had the slightest tint to them and his hair was styled

ZANDER’s POVI couldn’t sleep after what I just saw.Jayden had mumbled something under his breath before taking his towel to the bathroom. I wasn’t paying attention at first because my eyes were already half closed, begging for sleep after spending the entire evening working on our project. I’d heard the bathroom door open and Jayden stepped out. He made shuffling sounds as he raised up his shirt and out of instinct, my eyes cracked open for only a second and I immediately felt my entire body go pale.I saw bruises. Not one.Not two.My stomach sank. The bruises stretched across his back in uneven patches, some dark enough to make my skin crawl, others faded into sickly shades of yellow and green. I couldn’t even tell where one ended and the next began. Before he could turn back, I pressed my eyes shut and slowed my breathing, pretending I’d been asleep the whole time. Opening my eyes now would mean admitting I’d seen something I wasn’t supposed to and I didn’t think Jayden was rea

JAYDEN’s POV“You sure you don’t want to add anything else?” I glanced at the finished tattoo before looking at my new artist.“I’m good.”He wiped the excess ink away before stepping back to admire his work. “Looks clean.”I hummed in response, barely paying attention to him or anything else. The sting of the needle had long been replaced by the dull ache spreading across my arm. The words on my skin made me feel a different type of way. It was reclaiming a part of my self my father has cut away from me.“Just keep the bandage on for a few hours,” he said. “Wash it gently when you get home and NO scratching.”I nodded my head already up and planning to leave his studio. He chuckled.I pulled my shirt back on carefully, trying not to let the fabric brush against the fresh ink. He probably thought I was some masochist, considering how I barely reacted during the whole process and how I’m moving now. It still burned, but it was nothing compared to the hours I’d spent training with my fa

  • Dorm rules: Don't fall for your roommate.   CHAPTER 9

ZANDER’s POVAfter the whole shit that happened today? All I needed was to get halfway through this project and go home for the weekend. A little time away from Jayden and his friends.Speaking of the devil, he entered the room. I didn’t even want to say anything to him or even look at him right now because everything about him just kept reminding me about the cafeteria and I couldn’t start pretending like I was in the mood.“You came back.”I felt my blood boil and any little hope I had of us becoming neutral totally evaporate. How could this be the first he says to me after acting like I didn’t even exist. Even if he hated my guts, a simple apology— or at least some sign that he gave a damn would’ve been enough. “About the project.” I changed the topic. I just needed us to work on it today and finish some of it so we could get away from each other. “We should decide the parts we’re going to cover before you leave for the weekend.”I know I sounded like an asshole, but I didn’t ca
