Karma's POV

My mobile phone buzzed again and again.

I was reluctant to answer the call because it was an unknown number.

Different from Mia's.

I stared at it for a few seconds then decided to answer it.

Clicking the green answer button, I expected to hear an immediate introduction but there was silence on the other end.

I was going to cut the call when I heard a voice say, "am I speaking with Dr Kuntz?"

I hesitated. Because that voice sounded awfully familiar, but I couldn’t place a name to

  • Dr. KILLER    Chapter 177

Helena's POV When Karma and Yvonne arrived at the investigation building, I was waiting for them. The moment Yvonne stepped through the door, she looked at me with desperate hope.“Have you found Grace?” Yvonne asked, I could see how badly she wanted me to say yes.“We haven't found her yet,” I said gently, “but we know more now.”Yvonne's expression fell, while Karma remained beside her, watching me carefully. “Sit down. Both of you.”They sat, and I took a moment before explaining what we had discovered.“We went through the supermarket footage again,” I began. “The man in the cap was there during the exact period Grace disappeared. We already knew he had been seen several times inside Save the Needy Hospital, and we also have footage of him meeting with Nile.”Karma's eyes hardened. “So you're certain?”“Yes.”I looked at Yvonne. “We cannot see the exact moment Grace was taken because there is no camera covering that particular area. But when we put everything together, we are now

  • Dr. KILLER    Chapter 176

Helena's POVBy the time Karma and Yvonne arrived at the investigation building, I had already gone through the evidence several times. I had barely slept, not because I didn't understand what we were dealing with, but because what I had discovered was far worse than I had initially imagined. My people had been working around the clock, following movements, cross-checking hospital records, tracing financial transactions, comparing names and reviewing surveillance footage. Slowly, the picture had begun to take shape, and every new piece of information pointed in the same direction.Nile was at the center of something much bigger than I had first believed.I stood in front of the large screen in my office, staring at the photographs, documents and surveillance images covering it. What we had uncovered showed that Nile was running one of the largest organ-harvesting operations in the country. He wasn't doing it alone, of course. An operation of this size required doctors, intermediaries,

  • Dr. KILLER    Chapter 175

Karma's POVIt had been days since Auntie Grace disappeared, days of searching, days of unanswered questions.Days of waking up with the same terrible thought sitting heavily in my chest.Where is she?I couldn't stop thinking about her.Every time my phone rang, my heart jumped, hoping someone had found her, every unknown number made me wonder if it was Nile and every time there was silence, the fear became worse.Helena had refused to let us give up.We had gone to the supermarket where Yvonne said Auntie Grace had gone that day. We spoke to the manager and went through the CCTV footage, hoping to find something, anything that could tell us who Grace had spoken to before she disappeared. For hours, we watched footage from different cameras. People entering, people leaving. Cars pulling into the parking lot.Shoppers pushing carts, staff moving between aisles. But the one place we needed to see had no camera. The exact area where Auntie Grace disappeared was outside the coverage.I s

  • Dr. KILLER    Chapter 174

Helena's POVThe abandoned investigation building had never felt this quiet. Yet there were more people in the room than usual.Files were spread across the long table, laptops were open, and several screens displayed different pieces of evidence we had gathered over the past few days.I stood at the head of the table, listening as my people tried to make sense of everything. There were too many pieces, too many names, too many unexplained deaths and somewhere among them was the connection we had been missing."Start from the beginning," I said. One of my men nodded and turned toward the largest screen.."We went back through the hospital's CCTV footage."The screen changed. A hallway inside Save the Needy Hospital appeared. The footage was grainy, but clear enough to make out people walking through the corridor. "We noticed this man." He paused the footage.A man wearing a cap stood near the end of the hallway. His face was mostly hidden by the angle of the camera and the brim of his

  • Dr. KILLER    Chapter 173

Karma's POVI barely slept that night. Every time I closed my eyes, I saw the ropes around my wrists.I saw Noah standing in front of me. No, not Noah, but Nile.By morning, I had made one decision. I was going to the police station, not to report Nile at least not yet.Detective Hale had asked me to come, and the investigation into my hospital was still ongoing. There were still unanswered questions about the children's missing organs, the altered records, Dr. Keller's death, Dr. Petersen, and everything else that had happened inside Save the Needy Hospital.I needed to know what the police had discovered. I came downstairs after getting ready and found Yvonne in the sitting room. The moment she saw me dressed to leave, her expression changed."Where are you going, Karma?" She asked sternly, whenever she doesn't call me Little Karma it simply shows how serious she is. "The police station."She immediately stood. "The police station?""Detective Hale asked me to come in."She stared a

  • Dr. KILLER    Chapter 172

Karma's POVThe drive back to Yvonne's house was quiet.Helena barely said a word. She sat in the front beside the man who had taken over the driver's seat, her gaze fixed ahead. Every now and then, I caught her looking at me through the rearview mirror, but she never asked me anything.Yvonne, on the other hand, wouldn't stop fussing over me.She kept touching my arm, checking my face, asking whether I was hurt and whether I had eaten. Each time the car slowed down, she turned around to look at me properly, as though she was afraid she might discover another injury she had missed."Are you sure you're not bleeding anywhere?" she asked again."I'm sure.""Your wrists?"I instinctively pulled my hands closer to my body.Yvonne noticed. Her face tightened, but she didn't grab me or force me to show her. She only reached over and gently covered one of my hands with hers."You don't have to pretend with me," she said softly. The words nearly broke me.I looked out of the window instead, w

Chapter 5The police car smelled like stale coffee and leather.Karma sat in the back seat, hands folded in her lap, watching the city pass through the tinted window. Rosa's cleaning supplies fell to the floor and scattered. • Dr. KILLER    Chapter 3

Karma sat back in her booth, lifted her untouched drink, and watched her father drain his fourth glass of whiskey.Mia walked fast. She changed into something tighter—a red dress that barely covered anything.
