The landscape in front of the cottage left Elizabeth breathless. It was like a postcard scene, a wooden house, the stone path to the lake surrounded by trees and bushes. Sun was high, and ray beams were reflecting on the water surface, creating a beautiful sight. It all looked like a small piece of heaven right here in front of them.

“It’s breathtaking,” Elizabeth whispered, not wanting to disturb this perfectness in any way. She turned around herself and faced Henry eye to eye, still holding the rolling pin in her hand.

Henry’s posture was tense, but it was obvious that he was giving his best not to look like a threat.

“Liz, before I do what I am about to do, you have to know something. Under no circumstances will I be able to hurt you. It’s physically impossible for me to do you harm. Your safety and well-being come first for me. Do you understand?”

“Is that why you kidnapped me? To keep me safe?” she mocked.
