“Tell me the truth. You are working with her, aren't you?” Malcolm repeated, his voice a sharpened blade.

“No, Alpha! I swear it!”

“Don't you dare lie to us!” I pressed the tip of the needle deeper, a bead of blood welling against her skin.

“By the Moon Goddess, I know nothing about Rebecca!” she shrieked, her panic peaking. “I have never collaborated with her!”

“Was it you who attacked me in the hospital? After you poisoned that poor Omega, who was supposed to deliver my food?” My questions grew sharper, more accusatory.

“I swear on my life, Luna! I didn't do that. My only task was to sabotage the plants,” she insisted.

“Then why are your uniforms nearly identical?” Malcolm interjected, his eyes narrowing.

“I don't know! Elder Wilburn and Elder Meadow provided them to us,” Valerie blurted out.

Gotcha!

Finally, a slip of the tongue. Internally, I felt a wave of grim satisfaction.

Malcolm closed his eyes for a long moment, then raised a hand, signaling an end. “Take her back to the sil

Mom pulled something from her pocket that was shaped like a delicate seashell. I looked up at her, my eyes full of silent question.Understanding my gaze, she gently opened the shell. Inside was not a powder or a cream, but what looked like a shimmering, pearlescent dust. With the utmost care, she dipped her finger into it and softly swept the substance across each of my eyelids.A strange, cool warmth spread from her touch, and for a fleeting second, my vision seemed to sharpen, the colors in the room becoming impossibly vibrant. “Mom... what is that?” I whispered, my voice filled with awe and a flicker of uncertainty. She smiled, a secretive, ancient look in her eyes. “A very old blessing, my dear. From my mother, and her mother before her. It is said that on her wedding day, a Luna should not only see the world before her…” she paused, her voice dropping to a hushed, meaningful tone, “...but also catch a glimpse of the paths that lie ahead. Now, look again.”I turned back to th

“That looks like... smoke. Or an explosion. I don't know, but it's massive,” I said, standing up and moving to the balcony railing for a better look.Malcolm was right behind me. After a tense moment, his voice was low and firm. “Angie, get inside.”“Why?” I asked, only half-turning. “Is it dangerous?”“I believe so. Come in. I'll send a team of Sentinels to investigate—“He never finished his sentence. The door to my room burst open, and Dan and Allison rushed in, their faces etched with panic. Right behind them, my mother and Lira appeared, their expressions a mirror of the same, chilling fear.“What's going on?” I asked, my gaze darting between their urgent faces.Dad let out a dismissive grunt. “Just a few trespassers caught at the border. It's nothing major. The Sentinels are handling it,” he explained briskly, setting a jar of chocolate wafers on my bedside table. “These are for you.”“And I made you this, sweetheart,” Mom added, holding out a food container. “Your favorite, l

“No,” Kael said with a dismissive click of his tongue, his eyes scanning Valerie with contempt. “The one I'm talking about is younger. A man. Who's this pathetic old crone, anyway?”“She is one of the traitors I've been... dealing with for the past week,” Malcolm replied coolly, signaling for Carl to take Valerie back to her silver-lined cell. “I was certain she was your fourth.”“No, it's a man. Likely from the Gryffindor or Orion Stark packs.” Kael sank back into his chair, massing his temples. “The truth is, this so-called 'kidnapping' of Alphas was a ruse. It was a recruitment drive. They're coercing packs to coordinate with them, offering ten kilograms of pure gold as an incentive.”“So, it was all a fabrication?” I asked, my eyebrows shooting up as I looked at Malcolm. “Then why were individuals being targeted?”“I suspected it from the beginning,” Malcolm murmured, taking a seat as Allison did the same. “The pattern of kidnappings and attacks felt too orchestrated, too unnatura

Kael?“Sneaking?” Mom's eyebrow shot up, and she looked at me, her expression shifting from amusement to profound confusion.A surge of adrenaline shot through me, burning through the fog of medication and pain. I tried to push myself up, my muscles screaming in protest. The sudden movement sent a wave of dizziness over me, making the heart monitor beside my bed screech in alarm.“Angie, no!” Mom cried out, rushing to my side.“Lie back down!” Dr. Liana ordered, her professional calm cracking.Allison was at my side in an instant, his teasing forgotten, his hands hovering, ready to catch me if I fell. “Are you trying to reopen your wounds?”I batted their concerned hands away, my focus entirely on Carl. “Where are they?” I demanded, my voice a low, strained whisper, every ounce of my strength poured into those three words.“He's still at the mansion, Luna,” Carl confirmed, his voice tight. “Do you know him? His gear matches Rebecca's and Valerie's. The Alpha is in no mood for lenie

Our heads turned in unison to see Malcolm, my father, and a full contingent of Sentinels emerging from the treeline.Realizing she was surrounded, Rebecca's eyes darted around, searching for an escape route, but it was too late. More Sentinels materialized from every direction, cutting off all paths of retreat. She took a few faltering steps backward, genuine fear finally etching itself onto her face.“I have warned you, time and again,” Malcolm snarled, his voice vibrating with incandescent rage. “To lay a hand on my Luna is to sign your own death warrant!”In a desperate, final gambit, Rebecca rushed forward and clung to Malcolm's powerful arm, her voice a pleading whimper. “Ma-Malcolm, I was only—““Shut the fuck up, Rebecca Hayes!” he roared, violently shaking off her grasp. “It's over! I am done listening to the poison that drips from your lips! I gave you chance after chance, but you... you have gone too far!”My father rushed to my side, his breath coming in ragged, furious pa
