After being married for seven years, my husband, Samuel Ford, falls for Maggie Burner, his company's new accountant. He says, "It's only upon meeting her that I realize what love is." For the sake of his love, he allows Maggie to anger my aunt, who's gravely ill. She subsequently dies. He also stands by and watches as Maggie locks our four-year-old daughter in the car, leading to her asphyxiation. I lose all hope in life and ram my car at Samuel and Maggie. We die together. When I open my eyes, I realize that I've traveled seven years into the past. It's me and Samuel's wedding day. The officiant gives a speech, then asks, "Do you, Samuel Ford, take Penelope Waterworth to be your lawfully wedded wife? To have and to hold, from this day forward, for better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, until death do you part?" Samuel is taken aback. Then, he flings my hand aside and says coldly, "No, I don't." I lower my head to conceal the emotions in my eyes. What a coincidence—I don't want to marry him, either.

Chapter 1

Everyone went into an uproar. The guests didn't expect to stumble upon such a scene at a wedding. Soon, whispers and murmurs began echoing throughout the ballroom.

The host's smile froze on his face. He didn't expect to see the groom, who was delighted a moment ago, suddenly go through a mood change.

He paused momentarily before changing the subject. "Oh, dear, it seems that our groom is still having the pre-wedding jitters! Let's listen to a song for now, dear guests! We'll give him some time to recompose himself!"

Loud music rang out immediately. The host shot us a look immediately. It was a sign for us to hurry up and resolve our conflict as soon as possible. At the very least, we shouldn't be embarrassing ourselves in front of the guests.

Alas, the host's nice intentions were outright ignored by Samuel Ford, my supposed husband-to-be. Instead, he snatched the microphone from the host.

"I'm sorry for wasting your time, everyone. This wedding is canceled. I'd like to make it clear to everyone that I, Samuel Ford, will never marry Penelope Waterworth even if all the women in this world cease to exist."

Samuel gazed at me with hatred and disgust burning in his eyes. "Penelope, you can forget about marrying me in this lifetime!"

Once he was done speaking, he dropped the microphone before walking down the stage haughtily.

However, he had completely forgotten that this timeline was set seven years ago. He wasn't the CEO that everyone respected.

Before Samuel could leave the stage, a figure could be seen darting toward him. Then, she slapped him across the cheek forcefully.

"Hey, Ford! Say that to my face one more time, I dare you! You must think Penny is a pushover, huh?"

The woman was clad in a red gown and had flawless makeup on her face. The corsage pinned on her chest was enough to show that she was a family member of the bride's.

One slap wasn't enough to relieve that woman's frustrations. She made sure to sneak in another slap before Samuel could register what was going on.

"You bastard! You were the one who asked for Penny's hand in marriage back then! To think that you'd reveal your true colors this soon!

"Even if all of the women in this world cease to exist, huh? Do you think you're the king who gets to pick any woman you want out of the entire female population?"

The woman's words made everyone snap out of their trances. Someone quickly pulled her away from Samuel.

But the one tugging at her was either pretending to stop her or underestimated her strength. During the process, she got to aim a few more kicks at Samuel.

I couldn't hold my emotions back anymore when I saw how hale and hearty the woman was. So, I called out to her in a choked-up tone, "Aunt Linda…"

Upon hearing my voice, my aunt, Linda O'Neal, who was about to get into a proper fistfight with Samuel, quickly turned around to look at me. Then, she pulled me into her arms and began comforting me in soft tones.

"Don't cry, Penny. So what if that jerk doesn't want to marry you? You don't want to marry him, either! Don't be sad, Penny. I'll introduce a better man to you in the future."

As I leaned against Aunt Linda's chest and listened to her powerful heartbeat, I could feel my tears streaming down my cheeks. My lips trembled the whole time, yet I couldn't utter a word.

It had been a very, very long time since I last saw my aunt, who was healthy and brimming with energy.

My parents died in an accident when I was four years old. Aunt Linda was only in her 20s back then, yet she raised me without a care in the world.

She had even broken up with her first love. Since then, she had never married anyone else.

When I chose to give up on my stable job in order to help Samuel establish his business, Aunt Linda had scolded us for making her worry. However, she secretly did her best to provide us with as much financial support as she could.

Halfway through the journey, Samuel and I were met with a crisis that almost resulted in our bankruptcy. Aunt Linda had sold her house and worked her ass off just to shoulder the financial burden with us.

Aunt Linda had been nothing but nice to me. By right, Samuel should be grateful to her as well.

But that heartless bastard… He actually barged into Aunt Linda's ward with his mistress, Maggie Burner, and told her the truth. Aunt Linda ended up dying of a heart attack that was triggered by her rage.

When I confronted them, Samuel had the gall to tell me, "She was already at death's door because of her illness. Mags was just helping her seek her eternal relief in advance."

Thank goodness I got reborn. Aunt Linda was still healthy at this time.

Thank God for that…

I managed to stem my tears before asking Samuel, "Samuel, you're very sure that you want to cancel the wedding, right?"

I must have been wailing at the top of my lungs just now. My eyes were still red-rimmed, and my voice was still hoarse. I looked heartbroken right now.

All the other guests glared at Samuel immediately. Guilt flickered across his eyes, but it soon vanished.

He took a deep breath. "Let's just cancel the wedding and end our relationship, Penelope. Stop badgering me. It'll just paint an awful picture of you."

I quickly stopped Aunt Linda, who looked like she was about to beat Samuel up. Then, I lowered my gaze in order to conceal my emotions.

"Alright. Let's do that."

I'd like to see how Samuel would be able to establish and expand his company while having a happy ending with his so-called true love without my help in this lifetime.
