SHE WAS BITTEN

CHAPTER 6

SHE WAS BITTEN

Selena nodded her head. “No, Xavier.” She spoke quietly. If Xavier is close, Selena will always act calmly. “It’s all right. I’m fine. You know what? I had no business being here in the first place. “I’m going to leave.” She turned around and ran out of the room, and Xavier was unable to pursue her since Jazmine had held him back.

Selena collided with someone while running and fell, but the other person grabbed her. She was terrified and gasping for air, but she was also relieved that she hadn’t died. She lifted her head and looked at the person who had helped her. When she finally obtained a glimpse of the person’s face, her heart began to beat quickly. She wondered at first, “How could someone be this beautiful?”

The man was attractive and tall. Selena questioned how a man with such beauty could have been made by god since he possessed a face that could make women swoon. His flawless lips were calling out to her. He was dressed in black pants and a black blazer. She only realized he was holding her waist when he finally let go.

“Thank you.” Selena murmured with a sniff. He should be one of Xavier’s friends, given how gorgeous he seemed. But she’d never seen him before. “If you’re looking for Xavier, he’s there.”

The man said nothing; he simply nodded and walked away, and Selena didn’t take her gaze away from him until he was gone. Perhaps this wasn’t her night. She exited by turning toward the gate. She went outside, got in her car, and sat down.

She put her head on the chair’s back as she reached into the compartment box for her phone. Hania had left numerous missed calls when Selena switched on her phone. She sighed and closed her eyes, but was surprised by an unexpected voice.

The sound of a man’s voice.

He was arguing as if he were on the phone with someone.

Selena took a quick peek outside after rolling down her vehicle window and remembered the previous encounter. He was the same person she had met before. He was the same guy who had abandoned her in his sight.  He was walking towards the woods.

Selena got out of the car and went after him, but he vanished before she knew it.

Selena paused in front of the trees. What may have happened to him? She pondered. She turned her head in every direction, but all she saw were shadows. She took a step forward before turning around and walked backward, telling herself that following that boy inside would be silly.

The part of her that was in love wanted to follow him to see what he was up to, but another part of her told her not to even try.

After a while of waiting outside, Selena shouted, “Fuck it.” She had to go inside to find the boy because he hadn’t returned. She turned on her phone’s light before entering the woods, but all she could hear were crickets.

She then stepped on something that made a noise, which surprised her; however, when she shined her light in its direction, she saw that it was nothing more than a thong of dried leaves. She stepped ahead and continued to search, but she couldn’t locate anything. “Where did he go?” She enquire, but her inquiry went unanswered.

She dreaded going into the pitch-black woods by herself. Anyone who had walked into the woods after nightfall would have been horrified. Selena felt a powerful air suddenly sweep across her, making her fill chilled. She wrapped her arms as she continued walking. Will it rain? she wondered.

The moon began to be covered by clouds, making the scene as black as possible. Selena kept moving ahead, holding her breath, hoping that nothing would emerge out of the under-world to hurt her.

As she continued going, she saw a sign board. She had no choice but to point her spotlight towards it. “Stay away. Danger.” It is written on the signboard.

Selena came to a stop and spun around. She was moving faster. “This is a bad idea.” She stated. “He is not worth it.” She continued on her way back to where she had started, but it appeared that she had become lost. Selena groaned and looked around, trying to remember where she was when she heard a leaf rustling. “Is that you?” Selena yelled, but no one replied. She shook her head as she attempted to make her way back to Xavier’s house, but this time she heard a snarl. Her phone suddenly fell to the ground. Her breathing became very fast.

Selena snapped as she bent down to pick up her phone, and when she finally rose to her knees, she turned to look behind her when she saw the blazing red eyes gazing at her in the darkness. It was a werewolf but she had no idea what it was. It appeared to be a strange beast to Selena because of how huge it was.

The magnificent, full, white moon started to turn red as the cloud that had been obstructing it started to fade away.

The rattling continued, the sniffing increased frequently, and suddenly a growl could be heard once again.

She was visible to the wolf hidden in the underbrush from a distance. It was able to see everything clearly, hear her heartbeat speeding, and hear the loud crackling sound of her feet on the leaves as she moved backwards.

The wolf’s voice was enraged. It eventually revealed itself to her after emerging from the leaves with a very angry demeanor.

Now that she could properly see it. Although it was large and black, she only noticed it because of the red color of its dazzling eyes. He seems ready to slaughter his next human victim with a vengeance.

The wolf crept up on her and hissed. It has hated people and will continue to despise people. Its victims wouldn’t be limited to the girl in front of it.

It had already killed one of the hunters, so it was aware that there were still several around. Because of this, the wolf would continue to murder individuals until it could lure the hunters out of hiding. It rushed and growled  as it made an effort to catch Selena.

It likes it when humans beg. It always likes it whenever they do, and as a consequence, it gets more eager to devour them.

Selena gasped as it moved nearer to her. She seemed to have only just realized what was going to happen. Her eyes became wider. She turned around and started to flee as quickly as her legs would allow her, but the beast was stronger and faster, and she soon found herself on the ground whining in pain.

She hit the side of her back on the ground after being pushed off to the other side of the woods by it using its side body.

She sighed. What the fuck was that? She questioned, as she struggled to get up. “Did it possibly eat the boy she was looking for in the woods?” Her left arm was bruised, and she experienced a sting on the side of her tummy. When she raised her head to look at it, her phone was over where the beast was standing, and it was gazing at her. She was in a lot of pain.  She had never felt such pain before, not even at her father’s death.

She was looking into the dangerous red eyes that were staring back at her. After grasping she was in danger, she had just one thought. Was she going to die?

But she couldn’t get away. She could get up and run away but it would find her and kill her. She would die in either situation, laying or standing to run.

She burst into tears. She was terrified that the thing would devour her completely. She had never dreamed her death would occur in this manner in her entire life.

“You never know how you will die.” Selena clung to those statements with tenacity throughout her childhood.

She had wished for the type of death in which she would fall asleep and never wake up. The peaceful form.

Her stomach felt like it was being pierced by a pair of razor-sharp teeth right away. “No, please let me go!” Selena cried and struggled to escape, but it was useless.  She was powerless to get away from the beast. As it continued to eat, she was pulled back to it. She was its victim.

The wolf was enraged. Selena could see by the red eyes that it was angry with her.

Was she truly going to die? Will she be able to see her father again? Was she feeling this way because she went to a party just after her father’s funeral? Is this her final day on the earth?  She kept questioning herself.

The beast’s jaws were tearing her flesh to shreds. She could feel tears stream down her cheek. She was numbed, but was still in pain. It’s the feeling of not knowing what you’re experiencing.

Her hands quiver. They couldn’t move because they were trembling and still. You know the feeling you get when you realize it’s almost time to die? That was exactly how she felt.

Selena suddenly felt her hand become moist. The wetness was heavy. It was as sticky as blood. Her very own blood. Her hand was stained with her own blood. “Please... just let me go.” Her voice was so weak that the beast couldn’t understand what she was saying.

It couldn’t let her live. After all, it was a beast. They prey on humans and torment them. Selena had clung to the chance of survival even as her voice continued to tremble. She could feel its teeth cutting deeper into her flesh with each passing second, and if it continued to eat her, she would die.

When her phone began to ring, the red eyes’ attention instantly changed from her to it. Would she call her situation “fortunate” because her phone rang?

The ringtone on her phone became increasingly frenzied, and the beast began to snarl. Selena had no idea that such a thing existed in today’s society. A monster? She was a bright student who had no idea there were creatures. To her, it was all a myth. Were there more of them around?

The beast withdrew its sharp teeth from Selena’s flesh because the sound from her phone was bothering it and too loud for it to tolerate.

Even as she breathed in relief, she could feel her tummy bleed more persistently. She was losing so much blood that the cold penetrated throughout her entire body.

The beast lowered its head toward Selena once more, but this time its crimson gaze focused on her almost-ripped stomach rather than her eyes. Was it going to keep eating her? At this time, Selena gave up.

She clinched her hand and closed her eyes firmly. She thought she was doomed, but to her surprise she could no longer feel the teeth.

Selena eventually flipped her eyes open after a time and observed what the beast was doing. It was sniffling her.

After all, it does have a heart.
