~Serik

Arelith closed the distance, pressing against my chest until I had nowhere left to go. Her fingers traced the line of my jaw, slow and testing.

Her mouth claimed mine before I could answer, hot and demanding, while Vanya’s hands slid down my arms, trapping me between them. Heat pooled in my chest and lower still, my breath ragged before I’d even touched either of them in return. Their scents tangled in my head—wild flowers and fire, smoke and something darker I couldn’t name.

I gripped Arelith’s hair, pulling her closer, even as Vanya’s lips grazed the line of my throat. Their bodies molded against mine, a cage I didn’t want to escape.

And so it went—hands, mouths, whispered promises—until my blood burned hotter than the fire behind them. They kept me on edge, dangling me over the precipice without letting me fall, until finally Arelith drew back just enough to let words replace heat.

“We’ve chosen,” she said, her smile sharpened.

I blinked, trying to clear the haze

~Eira The woods were quiet—too quiet. Not even the usual hum of cicadas or the rustle of night birds carried through the air. My steps crunched over leaves and broken twigs, far too loud in the silence. Every sound I made seemed like a betrayal of where I was, what I was doing. Ryan had begged me not to leave but I knew that staying back was more dangerous. I was a threat to everyone around me, including him. I wouldn’t be able to live with myself if I ever hurt him. What happened that day in obsidian that Lira let herself loose was terrifying enough already. I felt like I was going to kill him. I knew he would’ve followed me if I’d said a word more, but this wasn’t his burden. My powers were mine to carry, mine to control, mine to cage. Except they weren’t. I reached for the magic now, brushing my fingers against the edge of it like I had a thousand times before, and felt… nothing. Or worse than nothing—static, discord, a push when I needed a pull. It was like trying to breathe u

~AeronThe night air in Obsidian was crisp, carrying with it the mingled scents of stone, smoke, and something faintly sweet—the vendor’s cart I’d passed earlier selling honey cakes. The streets were quieter than usual, though the torches along the walls burned steady, their glow casting long shadows against the blackened stone. Beside me, Seliora rode with an ease that made her look like she belonged here, even though I knew she didn’t. Her cloak fell neatly around her shoulders, silver embroidery catching the light whenever she shifted. Her posture was proud, but not stiff—grace born of habit, not effort. She caught me watching her and raised a brow. “If you’re this quiet the whole patrol, I’ll think you’re plotting something.” “I don’t plot,” I said, nudging my horse forward as we turned down a narrower street. “I plan.” “Mm. And what’s the difference?” she asked, amusement tugging at her lips. “One gets you killed,” I replied dryly. “The other gets you through the night.

~Caelum The night tasted of iron. I adjusted the strap of the blade across my chest, the hilt pressing against my ribs with a familiar weight. I was never a fan of weapons but decided to try something new this time. It was not like I was planning to use it. At my side, my reluctant ally—Laurent checked the edge of his own weapon. His hands trembled, though he tried to hide it. The faint moonlight gleamed along the curve of the steel, turning it ghost-pale, brittle as bone. We stood just beyond the tree line, shadows clinging to us like a second skin. The house that Laurent told me was where the next lunar sentient resided, stood just before us. It was a dark shape in the valley, a squat thing of stone and timber with smoke curling faintly from its chimney. A ward shimmered faintly against the walls, thin and dying, like the heartbeat of a man too weak to stand. I almost laughed when I saw the ward. He picked the weakest protection spell for his home. This was going to be a breez

~Eira The smell of smoke still clung to the air even when day broke. My hands trembled at my side and despite my efforts to hide them, Ryan still saw it. He walked up to me and held my hand, trying to comfort me. I walked with him into the village to see what had befallen the village. The destruction stretched as far as I could see. Roofs had collapsed, their beams blackened and charred. Fields that had been ripe with late summer harvest lay in ruins, stalks burnt down to brittle husks. A line of cottages sagged inward like broken teeth, smoke still curling from their wounds. And further still, at the heart of the village, the crater I had carved into the earth smoldered like an accusation no one dared speak aloud. The villagers moved slowly through the wreckage, their faces drawn, their eyes shadowed. Some carried buckets to douse stubborn flames, others sifted through rubble with bare hands, searching for anything that could be salvaged. A child’s toy. A family’s bread. A roof

~Aeron The chamber was too quiet, the silence pressing in like a heavy cloak. I stood by the window, staring out at the city below—our city. Obsidian should have been alive with pride, with strength, with trust in me. Instead, I felt the weight of their whispers even through the walls. Seliora sat across the table, her golden hair unbound, eyes sharp despite the shadows under them. She was as tired as I was, but she carried it better—like steel wrapped in silk. She moved like she owned the room. She was a lot better at handling situations like this which was a shock because I’ve been here more times. “They’ll never accept us this way,” I muttered, finally breaking the silence. My reflection in the glass looked harder than I felt. “Every word I hear is the same. They think I betrayed them. They think you—” I turned to look at her, jaw tight. “—that you’re here to take what’s theirs. I don’t think Reed’s son is the only one who has this view. He’s just the only one who made his di
