FAZER LOGINJasmine.
“Walter Stilinski, sir…” Walter beams like he’s a child who’s meeting their dream superhero in real time. He has his hand stretched out waiting for Vladimir's.
My expression is quite different. Aside from the soul-crushing humiliation threatening to swallow me whole, just being this close to him makes it hard to breathe.
My mother is standing just next to him. Her hand interlocked in his, a big smile on her lips. She didn’t even smile this much when I got into college, nor when I got my first paycheck.
A thin line of a smile drew across Vladimir's lips, his eyes solemnly on Walter's.
“Vladimir Kensington,” he responds, his other hand reaching out for Walter’s.
My breath shudders just hearing his voice again.
‘You shouldn't be wandering into strangers' rooms at night; men are cruel.’
My lashes flutter, goosebumps erupting across my skin.
It’s the same voice. From last night. His voice, it keeps taunting me.
“Hon, this is Jasmine, my first daughter.” Mother introduces me a little too excitedly.
I feel my soul leave my body.
Everything slows down, the noise in the background dying as his head slowly twists towards my direction and stops on me.
“Ah, Jasmine. The wild card…”
Blood rushes into my cheeks, my ear turning red as well.
I remain still, eyes wide open, unable to blink as he holds my gaze.
W—Wild card?
He looks so calm, completely unbothered; it forces my pulse to quicken.
I only nod, not daring to say a word.
His gaze moves back to Walter, completely dismissing me. A cold chill runs through me.
What was that?
The slow feel of Walter's fingers crawl across my waist as though he's discreetly trying to call for my attention.
“Em, Mrs Sinc— My apologies, Mrs Kensington. I'm Walter… Walter Stilinski, Jasmine’s boyfriend…” he introduces himself, doing the very thing I'm supposed to do.
“Yes, I heard.” She smiles. “I always thought Jasmine had terrible taste in men, but you clean up nice…” she adds jokingly.
I force an awkward laugh, one I shouldn't have vocalized, and it comes out like the cry of a broken horse, forcing surrounding eyes to us.
Fuck me!
“Um, yeah… I think we should… um, I mean Betty is here somewhere; we should find her—” I try to end the awkwardness that comes after that, but Walter just has to try to impress my mother.
I’m sure she’s fine,” Walter interjects, eager to impress. “Mr Kensington, I must say it would be an honor to work in the same office as you… I mean Jasmine worked extra hard for years just to be able to enlist for the application…”
Oh Walter!
Vladimir’s brows twitch for a second, almost like his composure slips, then that default calm returns and his head snaps towards me.
“You applied at KGH?” he asks, trying to hide the surprise in his tone.
My soul almost leaves my body.
“Y—Yes.” That one word takes almost ten seconds to completely come out even though I try to compose myself.
“And?”
I swallow hard, a bead of sweat rolling down my temple.
He suddenly doesn't sound so neutral anymore… if anything, I'd say he's cold and somewhat authoritative.
“I got in.”
“We both did,” Walter adds immediately after me. “I can't believe we get to see you in person before resuming in the office.”
Oh God!
“Hon, isn't KGH one of your companies?” My mother suddenly inputs like she's just getting the gist.
“It is; I never knew Jasmine had knowledge of that…”
“W—What? I didn't know who you were, and I just saw you for the first time today.” I cut him off in a rush of panic.
It felt like an attack, and I lost myself.
He can't be imposing what I'm thinking he is, right?
“Of course, Jasmine. A happy coincidence, I bet,” he says casually before a smirk forms on his lips.
Oh my God!
He’s an asshole!
“Wow, you're finally doing something that pays real money. Maybe you'll finally move out or get a house of your own someday.” My mother's eyes soften, almost genuinely, but I hear the shade in her tone.
I roll my eyes, having heard enough.
I think Walter suddenly reads the mood and finally says something in defense of me.
“It’s still your big day, Mrs Kensington; all this work talk must bore you. We should go mingle with the crowd…”
“You should,” Vladimir imposes immediately as though he was waiting to hear that.
My heart sinks into my chest, a slight ache spreading, more from rage than his cold dismissal.
I turn to leave immediately, and Walter follows behind me.
I can't believe this! Betty won't believe this either!
I lost my virginity to that guy!
That guy!
My breathing suddenly becomes heavy, my jaw clenched, forcing down everything inside me from spilling out.
I don't think I understood how deeply I fucked up until now. And worse, he's going to be everywhere!
Home!
Every morning!
Every night!
Work!
Every single day!
I'll be stuck in purgatory made by him.
I'd have to stare at his face while he acts like he's my boss or my stepfather!
He has seen me naked! He’s had his lips on mine… and on my skin.
Goosebumps erupt across my skin.
We've barely walked ten feet away from them when I hear my mother's voice.
“Take it easy on her, she's… fragile.”
My breath shudders.
“I bet.” He responds.
“Keep her close to you at work… I know you don't mix business with pleasure, but can you do that for me, dear…”
Me?
Fragile?
And here I was thinking things couldn't get any worse.
I'm moving out. To Walters or Betty’s. Hell, I'll live under the bridge than spend a day in that house alone with both of them.
“I can't believe your stepdad is our boss…” Walter vocalizes his thoughts again, and I can still hear the shock.
“So did I, babe… but here we are.” A sarcastic response slips past me.
I don't mean to sound so cold, but it comes out that way regardless.
“Hey, Rookie…”
I halt, and so does Walter.
It's his voice.
Vladimir's.
We both turn to the sight of them both waving at us from a distance.
“I can't wait to work with you. Don't be late.”
Jasmine The movie seems to be quite interesting, but my mind is cut off by the heat radiating off me as Walter’s finger draws slow circles on my hand. He hasn’t even touched me yet, and I’m losing control. That’s when I realise I’m ovulating. It explains a lot and makes me feel better about my reaction to certain things. Yes, to Vladimir, of course. It had to be why I felt so… No! I can’t let the thought of him ruin this! I adjust closer to Walter, spreading my palm wider. He only smiles but doesn’t stop. We’re four hours in, and we’ve eaten the Chinese takeout he brought, talked about work, and even gone as far as greeting my mother in her room just because he said it’s wrong if she doesn’t know he’s here. He’s so perfect it makes me feel like a fuck up. Now I want more, but I don’t know how to ask or make the move. It should have been obvious because I changed into really loose shorts he only needs one hand to take off and a tiny top that makes my nipples poke out. My hair is
Jasmine “It’s okay, Walter; you don’t need to take sick leave from the office,” I continue to persuade him. “Babe—” “I mean it. You could come over to the house later; I’m literally not going anywhere. It doesn’t hurt as much anyway.” I sigh, sitting upright in bed, carefully adjusting the pillow under my left leg. As much as I hate being here, the second we got to New York, Vladimir drove me home, and we haven’t said a word to each other ever since. It’s been two hours since then, and he hasn’t come to check up on me. Not like I even want to see his stupid face. “Okay, I’ll come over after work. Would it be okay if I sleep over?” he asks, and I can hear the worry in his tone. “Walter, you don’t need to ask; we’re adults. Of course you can,” I say, a familiar warmth blooming in my chest. “I know it’s a day late, but we could have dinner in my room…” He gives a sheepish, low laugh. “What are you thinking… I know what it means when you talk that way.” “Oh my God, stop… you’re d
Jasmine I can feel it; everything inside me is so heightened that my body doesn’t stop shaking. Our breathing is synced, fast and rapid, his fingers digging into my waist as his grip tightens possessively. We’re pressed so tightly against each other, his intoxicating breath filling my lungs. Pull away… Jasmine. Please! My mind pleads with my body, but I don’t. I stay still until his lips almost touch mine. He freezes, eyes widening as though he’s just recovering his senses. It’s almost like he’s now thinking it through. “Get off…” he says sharply, leaning backward and pulling away. My heart stops. “But, your… you were…” I stutter, trying to peel myself off him. His fingers retract from my waist. His legs shift apart, creating enough space for him to push me away as though I’m suddenly a hot potato. Every heat inside me drains into pure horror and anguish as the look in his eyes changes. I push myself upright, scrambling backward. My heel catches against the edge of the flo
Jasmine Two options: get to the hospital and get him an EpiPen, or run back in there and look like a fool. I can’t alert him of that when he’s with her, even if some wicked part of me would enjoy watching his perfect composure shatter. He deserves to suffer for being such a fucking hypocrite. But I know how bad a peanut allergy can get, so the latter doesn’t really seem like an option. I’d messaged him the address to his suite at Santo Mauro and sent a cab to take him there; hopefully he’s still breathing in his room. The thud of my heels against the tiles echoes through the silent hallway as I sprint toward his room, my heart pounding against my ribs, the EpiPen clenched tightly in my fist. I don’t wait to catch my breath; I press the key against the scanner and pull the door inward. My body stills; my breath sticking in my lungs. Heat. In a single breath, heat shoots up my spine, flooding my veins.I stand still, gasping as an image flashes in my mind. My fingers trail the
Jasmine I’ve never been on a really important business meeting, but I’m sure this isn’t what it’s supposed to look like. Why did he have to rent out the entire restaurant and have a buffet being prepared for her? My jaw tightens, my eyes still on Vladimir, who now seemingly has a smile on his face. That's a ten on the scale of unprofessionalism. That's because I’ve never seen him smile. “The last time I saw you in Paris, you promised me a dinner and a building I can’t refuse…” Isabella’s rich, feminine, light voice comes. Paris? Dinner? So much for work is work. “And here we are,” he responds smoothly, not taking his eyes off her. My left eye twitches uncontrollably, another wave of repulsion surging through me. Why the hell am I here? It’s almost like I’m a disturbance to them, having to occupy the empty seat opposite to stop this from looking like what it really is. A fucking date! I swallow hard, watching her giggle at him in her red beaded dress and fancy hat. Her lips
Jasmine‘Thank you for last night.’ Five words that shouldn’t mean so much, but I’ve never heard those two words from Violet before. It’s the only thing that puts a smile on my face this morning.I’m standing by the private jet, a quad-shot black Americano in one hand, my phone in the other, and a messy bag of clothes slung over my shoulder. I’d dragged myself out of bed at five just to make it here on time. I hadn't even heard him leave this morning, and we’d driven to the airfield in separate cars. My eyelids flutter, a tired sigh slipping past me. I can’t help the wave of exhaustion from my lack of sleep that threatens to pull my body to the ground. “Miss Sinclair…” My breath catches as a familiar face comes into view. It’s her. The secretary from KGH. She has a tag on her. Hope. Really? How ironic. Her eyes scan me from head to toe, her brows furrowing in disgust. “Why do you look like this?” she asks, forcing my head down toward my body. Fuck! The drowsiness in my eye
