Spar

Alden dropped his teacup and went outside, while Damien tailed behind him

They got outside the house and stood at a considerable distance from each other. Alden and Damien looked at each other. It was nearing the end of the day, so the atmosphere was chilly and the breeze blew, making Alden's jacket fly in the air

Damien moved and launched at Alden, attempting to attack him which he evaded. The spar began, they violently attacked each other. If anyone saw them, they'd think they were trying to murder each other. No normal person would be able to sustain the impact from their attacks

The speed at which they moved was as fast as the speed of lightning. For a normal person, it would be difficult to tell where exactly they were. Alden put little to no effort to evade Damien's attacks. He moved as swiftly as the wind and landed a ghastly kick on Damien's back which caused him to stumble

Before he could regain his composure, Alden launched another attack. This time around, he sent Damien flying a distance away from him. Damien brutally landed on my back. Damien wasn't able to sense Alden, despite his great sense of hearing. That was how good Alden was

"Still so predictable. Anyone would be able to sense you coming from miles away with the way you breathe, so loud" Alden irritably commented as he majestically walked closer to where Damien was

Damien stood up, dusted his attire and ran to Alden. Damien's fist made contact with Alden's palm in rapid succession

"Calm your breathing" Alden yelled as he twisted Damien's wrist, moved behind him and elbowed his neck

Here's the thing, Damien is a great fighter. He would take down almost anybody in no time. Alden was just a beast in human form.

Damien was a vampire. One of the most famous and feared vampires in his world. He has been roaming the face of the earth longer than any other vampire ever has. Most vampires never cross a hundred and fifty years, but Damien already succeeded two hundred and fifty years

Sounds like a blessing, right? It's all unicorns and rainbows until the reality of life hits you. He watched his family and friends pass away. The same meaningless drama, the same cycle, it bored him to death. Damien had searched far and beyond as to why he hasn't advanced into the afterlife and how he could end his pathetic life

His life has been a cycle of one-night stands, reluctantly fighting off enemies and waiting for death to grab him by the neck. Everyone wishes to live, Damien wishes to die. Would you blame him though?

Alden, on the other hand, was Damien's best friend and part of the Royal family. Anyone with royal blood in them gets to live two hundred years, Alden already lived more than half of that period. He left his family at a very young age because he felt tied to their unreasonable royal instructions.

Alden is a terrific fighter, he would blow up anyone in seconds. The advantage he had over Damien was that he started training at a very tender age, as expected from the only direct male descendant of the Royal family. Alden on the other hand was passive about the traditions and customs of vampires. He lived carefreely and didn't particularly care about fighting. Not until, he succeeded two hundred and fifty years

"Easy for you to say" Damien got back up and the spar continued

"You move too heavily. I can predict where you are by listening to the sound of your feet hitting the floor"

"Gather your strength into what you use to attack"

"Focus, don't be distracted. Clear your mind"

This went on for over half an hour until they finally stopped

"That's enough for now" Alden said, he looked like he hadn't moved a finger since. Damien on the other hand was panting

"King Durham sent another message. He asked for you to come over" Damien reported to Alden as they went back into the house

"Ignore it" Alden replied "I have somewhere to be" Alden then disappeared into the darkness of the night

Damien went to his room. There was no light illuminating it. You couldn't tell where anything was. But that wasn't the case for Damien, a vampire, he had great sight, even in the dark.

He undid the buttons of his shirt and removed it. A huge eagle tattoo was on his back. It looked so realistic, especially its red dragon eyes. He moved the middle vase on one of his tables and the huge painting behind him moved and opened, exposing the stairs to his hidden underground room

He went underground and lit the wall candles. It looked like an ancient cave. Damien walked to the huge carved statue of an eagle and closed his eyes for a few seconds before opening them

His eyes colour changed to that of the eagle, red, and the tattoo on his back vanished. Outside, a huge Eagle hovered up above the sky and flapped his majestic wings. Damien could see through the eyes of the Eagle. He intently watched every corner of where the eagle's eyes reached

"Everything looks normal" He muttered before he closed his eyes and opened them. His eyes colour reverted to its usual blue and the tattoo reappeared on his back. He exited the underground room and leapt out into the dark

The next morning,

The bright morning sun seeped through her pink flowery-patterned curtains and rested on her face, rousing her from her slumber. Her hair was dishevelled, looking akin to a bird's nest, there was dried drool at the edge of her mouth. She slept in a starfish position, the blanket that was meant to cover her body lay messily on the floor

She groaned, rubbed her eyes, rolled over and buried her face in her pillow. The light streaming through the window reminded her that she had to get up and get ready for work

She heaved a heavy sigh. With her eyes half-closed and her body still heavy with sleep, she dragged her legs to the bathroom where she sluggishly bathed

Elsie went to bed late the previous night after creating lewd scenarios of herself and the man she met the previous day. Elsie reluctantly walked out of the bathroom, yawned and sat on the edge of her bed with her pink towel tightly wrapped around her chest

Although Elsie was still sleepy, she knew she had to get ready for work. With a resigned sigh, she got dressed and headed out the door

She saw Harry in the living room, playing games with his phone. Harry paused the game and looked up when he heard heavy footsteps approaching

"Big sis, where are you off to?"

" Where else? I'm off to work. You be quick and get ready for school" Elsie sat on the couch and buckled the hook of her shoe

"But today's Saturday" Harry replied as he took his headphones off completely

"..."

The earlier drowsiness she felt flew out of the window "What do you mean?" Elsie took out her phone from her purse and checked the day it was.

"Are you sure you're okay sis? By the way, don't go out without putting makeup on, you look akin to a zombie" Harry wrinkled his nose at her

"..."

"Jeez, didn't you look in the mirror?"
