Chapter 12

I watched as my beta almost went to pieces with fear in front of me. Silly, cowardly man, all mouth and no actions. Sometimes I wonder why I picked him as my beta, but then some choices are beyond lamenting over.

I watched as he swallowed obviously, his eyes darting every which way. "I'm sorry if I did or said anything that angered you in any way, alpha. I take back my words: they were stupid and uncalled for. Such will never repeat itself again."

All words, again. Just empty words that I know fully well he would forget soon. I grimaced and turned away from him in disgust, walking towards a couple of guards standing in a corner of the corridor. They all stood at attention as I came closer and gave deep bows, all murmuring greetings.

They all feared me: even the guards. They all feared me but didn't respect me. They were scared of what I could do in an angered state, but didn't respect me enought to refrain from doing what could anger me.
