Crazy detective

༆❁CORVETTE❁༄

Closing the brown coloured french office door against me, I could feel the atmosphere in the area change and knowing fully well that I was the one who ultered it, I walked confidently past the set of people who came to apply for the same job.

I couldn't help but notice the irritation on their faces when they noticed how happy and cheerful I was. How wouldn't I be happy?

I had a feeling I would get the job of being Gyro's driver. There was just this unexplainable happiness brewing up in my chest underneath all the nervousness and right there as I was undergoing that evaluation test, I just knew I would get it.

Mumurings flew in the air, dissatisfaction seizing the atmosphere the moment I walked out.

"We've been here for more than an hour, when is it going to be our turn?" A masculine voice grumbled, spurring up mild uproar as everyone began concuring to his statement.

"Exactly. Did you all bring us here just to stand and watch like spectators? What sort of interview is this!?" An angrier voice sharply added.

"Get the fuck out of there and let us go through!" Someone yelled from within the crowd.

I shook my head at how unprofessional they were acting and rolled my eyes, moving some metres away from the door.

"I don't know anything that is going on there but when I get the order to let you all in, I will. Please stop shouting and raising your voices. It will diminish your chances of even getting called in" chided the lady who had called me inside earlier.

Her sentence made me pivot back, my orbs holding hers as she smiled softly at me which got me feeling a tad bit awkward; I know it was part of the norms of his profession to be nice but his smile was too informal. I shrugged the thoughts off and returned her smile with mine.

There was no way I was letting any thing ruin or intrude my thoughts rather than this victorious spirit I could feel within me.

"Have a nice day ma'am" She mouthed at me with that same soft smile and cheerful eyes.

"Thank you" I responded cheerfully while struggling to contain this profound joy inside of me.

Just as I proceeded to step out of the tall glass building, hugely built up men whom I suspected to be bodyguards stepped into the area where the multitude of people were indignantly raising their voices to complain about being delayed and left in the dark about the interview were all gathered in.

"I'm sorry to inform you all that there will be no interviews for now, we apologize for the delay, but the right candidate for the job has already been selected, you can now go home, thank you." said one of them sharply with no emotion on his face before he made a swift move exiting the room.

The uproar became louder, mumurings seized the atmosphere and the ambience was set to livid as different eyes shot me murderous and baleful orbs.

Why the fuck were they looking at me? Was I the cause of the interview being brought to an abrupt halt? What the hell is wrong with this people?"

"So that girl got the job? I don't think she even did much or said much apart from sucking her way to the top. I mean she went in and came out so quickly and others stayed for a longer period" scoffed one of the ladies, her raging orbs narrowing at my direction.

"She must have probably bribed her way into getting that job. Didn't you see how she dressed like? Like one of those rich brats who can just make their way into anything because of their wealth" added a young male distastefully.

"You people are being so unfair! What the fuck! How can you all just abruptly end the interview without even checking others out first?!" A man yelled.

Their heated stares were all settled on me but I didn't feel intimidated. I was ready to match up to their scoffs and rude remarks, so I placed a smirk, sitting it right on top my face.

"What does the girl have that we don't even have! I thought y'all were supposed to be sensible intellectuals?!" A pained voice yelled.

"Hey! I wasn't the one who asked them to bring the interview to a halt. And I don't even know who the lucky one will be so you all should better stop pointing your damn disgusting fingers my way. After all you all are acting so unprofessional. If I were to be miss Gyro, none of you would get the job. Bitches." I murmured the last part out but my voice was acrimonious at all of them.

It seemed I had tipped them all off the edge as their yellings grew louder. I quickly slipped past them and briskly made for the gates of the building before their lot would attempt mobbing me because of a job that'd become useless after how Gyro would fall soon.

I was eager to reach out to Megan and inform her about what happened.

I could still hear the livid rage of the crowd, although it was now faint. I stole a glance at what was happening and saw that security guards were dispersing them.

I sighed a breath of relief. It was such a good thing that the guard made that announcement right after I had stepped out.

Now I knew competition had been reduced and that also, my chances of winning were really high. I spent little time in there, well practically because the evaluation officer didn't bother to interview me that much.

She just interviewed a few things about me, undertook the evaluation test before cheerfully telling me I could go.

I dug my hands in my pocket and reached for my phone. I immediately dialed Megan's number with caged breaths. I stared at my phone waiting for Megan to pick up and she did immediately.

"Hello Coco, are you still at the interview center?" she asked immediately she picked.

"Yes I am, the craziest thing just happened today" I said eager to spill out the news.

"what?" She asked.

With so much excitement in my voice, I chirped "Immedately I came out of the building, a guard announced that the best candidate had been picked and the interview had been closed. Now my chances of getting the position is even higher!"

"Why are you screaming in excitement? This shouldn't excite you, not even in the least. You got the job plus you got most of the marks too" Megan said without an atom of excitement in her voice.

"Really?! I am so happy. I actually made it!" I voiced out, my happiness written all over my face.

I had a feeling Megan would have been informed if I passed or not but I would have been damn disappointed if I couldn't pass the evaluation test on my own.

I was the best undercover detective of 'Splash a star' and it meant I had to always meet up to the task with or without Megan's help given the type of work I was in.

'Splash a star' is a very ruthless and gossip related magazine company that exposes the secret lives of celebrities and their hidden activities but nevertheless nobody knew the people who actually went around these celebrities to uncover secrets about them.

Nobody knew I was the leading role in bringing out the dirty linens of the celebrities to the public, although I was very popular in this industry line, which is why I have to be very smart in whatever I do.

"You're going to uncover some mysteries concerning Gyro. You know I suspect she is into something fishy with that wealthy business oil tycoon guy that she has always introduced as a friend of hers. I need to know what those two devils are really cooking up behind the camera" Megan said, reminding me of the things she wanted me to uncover.

I took a serious mental note of it all as I listened to her speak over the phone, as if I had never heard it before when in actuality, I had.

"Make no mistake Coco, I don't want you getting attached to her or becoming emotionally close to that woman. In this job, we keep our emotions aside" She warned strictly, sternly reminding me of our job code like I was just new to this..

"Ugh, Megan. I know all this already, that's why I'm your top undercover agent and even won an award for that last year that I'm confident I'll win yet again. Asides almost messing up with Janice's case, there has been no reason for you to complain." I said confidently, slightly triggered that she was reminding me of our basic job etiquettes like I was a newbie.

"Exactly. You almost blew your cover then and put Splash a star in a very hazardous position. You know a lot of things can go wrong, you just have to be careful." Megan added.

That was the only time I almost blew my undercover identity and I remember it clearly; I had been sent by Megan to work as a secretary for the popular heart throb pop star, Janice Cameron and at the heat of it all, I got so emotionally drawn towards her that I almost gave out my identity.

But then I found out she was a hardened cheat and playboy. It pulled me back on track. Thinking back on it now, I dreaded the thought of what would have happened if my identity had been exposed then.

"Yes I know, I'm going to do my best to uncover her secrets, giving Splash a star evidences that would expose the skeletons in her closet to the whole world" I said realizing it's a serious job and not a makeover party.

"Ok then" Megan concluded right before hanging up.

At once I ambled outside the premises and stopped a cab. I shambled into the cab and told the driver of my destination, he zoomed off the premises giving the car tyres enough force to raise up dust particles.
