Chapter 1

No word to say...

“Calvin, please listen to me. I had nothing to do with her death.” My voice broke, drained by the shouts of the packs.

“Kill her!”

“Crucify her!”

“She doesn’t deserve to live.”

I was dragged, chains biting into my wrists, tearing into my skin. But the pain was nothing compared to the rift in my chest. My eyes were locked onto my mate, but instead of the love I had grown accustomed to, what I saw was sheer disgust.

“Calvin please…”

“Stop it, Adriana. You are simply irritating to look at.” His dark gaze stared into my soul. “How evil can you be? You killed your own sister because she would be Luna? His voice echoed in the air.

It riled up the pack members even more, and I looked down.

I didn’t kill her.  Tears streamed down my cheeks, but there was no way to prove it.

I couldn’t prove it. The knife was in my hands, and Casa’s bleeding body was inches away.

Shock never allowed me to speak. When I came to my right mind, it was too late.

“Calvin. She lunged herself at me. You have to believe me.” My eyes darted between him and the elders, as they stared down at me. “You said you loved me, Calvin–”

“Shut up!” His wolf roared out in anger, “That’s what you don’t get. You were a mistake, and you’d always be my greatest mistake.” He snapped.

Mistake?

“What do you mean, Calvin? We are fated mates.”  I answered. On the night of the blue moon, Calvin’s moon dust had drawn a line towards me.

“If I had known, maybe I would have broken the bond I made.” Calvin hissed out. I was even more confused.

“You were a weak Omega, without the presence of a wolf, you couldn’t be the Pack’s Luna, so we held the ritual again.”  One of the elders rose to his feet. “Your sister was Calvin’s true mate. She wasn’t around that night so the moon dust went to the one closest to her blood.”

My eyes were focused on Calvin, as the poisonous confession went through my heart.

He knew, and in his eyes, there was no remorse.

“Now, you have killed her.”

“I didn’t–”

A loud bang erupted, stopping my sentence. Everyone in the pack knew the meaning of that drum.

It was the sentence of death. The pain had grown numb. My father and mother looked away, even my supposed mate couldn’t bear to look at me.

I had suffered years of bullying, abuse, but never in my life had I felt so miserable.

My eyes went to everyone in the pack. I had run errands for some of them, given them assistance in my little months as Luna, but no one could step forward.

“I don’t want you as my mate.” Calvin’s voice came through the noise.

I braced myself, my muscles thickened, and I stood my ground. Alphas face immense pain when they are rejected, so how much more an omega like me.

The result would be a painful death.

“Call me Adriana. Do not add my surname so I can die alone.” I uttered, it was the most I could do for the preservation of my last dignity.

Calvin gave me a nod. It was ironic.

The man who had professed love to me. The one I had given my virginity, was the man who was drawing the sword against my neck.

“I, Alpha Calvin, reject you, Adriana, as my mate.”

The pain I was expecting didn’t come, but I could feel the dissipation of the mate bond.

They all stared at me with curious eyes, and it was the same conclusion that went through everyone’s mind–I was wolfless.

If it was a month ago, I would have thought the same thing. My wolf had called out to me a week ago.

I wanted to announce it, but she had warned me to remain quiet. I could now understand why she said so.

“Being wolfless has saved you from death. Count yourself lucky that the moon goddess doesn’t permit us to kill our fellow pack.” Calvin said as he walked towards me.

In a swift movement, he wrapped his fingers around my neck, cutting out my source of oxygen.

The chains held my hands down, so I could only dangle as he lifted me from the ground.

My eyes were wet with tears, while my vision blurred.

“If only killing you would bring her back, I would have disobeyed the moon goddess without a second thought.” He cursed.

My fingers and toe had become numb, but there was no sign of him letting me go. I gasped but it was futile.

“Please…” I whispered, my voice strained.

In the next second, he tossed me on the ground with a strong force. Pain ripped through my arm, but I gritted my teeth, holding back my scream.

I could feel the dislocation of my shoulder, even worse was the hatred burning in Calvin’s eyes.

“You know what? I think death is a very easy way for her to leave, am I right?” He asked, lifting his hands.

Fear filled every part of me, and I looked up. Cheers came from every part of the pack, from people who I had worked hard for.

What was he talking about?

“We are taking her to Roldin, The Lycan King! She would serve as a peace treaty,” Calvin sneered, “The murderous Luna turned slave. Wouldn’t the mad king love that?” Bloodthirst dripped from his words, making my skin crawl.

I rushed forward, “Calvin please. You can’t do this to me. I didn’t kill Casa–”

“The next time you say her name, I will not think before giving it out to the auction house. If you were related to my mate, I would have done the worst thing. Thank the moon goddess I let you scot free.”

I was stumped. This wasn’t scot free. Lycans were not bound by rules and traditions. They killed whatever and whoever as long as it pleased them

This was worse than a rejection.
