Ava's POV

“Kane is right,” I said, my voice thick with emotion. “They won’t take Xenia. Not while I’m still breathing. Not while any of us are still standing.” The determination hardening in my voice was a fragile shield against the fear that gnawed at me. I wouldn't lose her too. The thought was a physical blow, a raw wound that wouldn't heal.

Mitchell nodded, her eyes burning with fierce intensity. “I didn’t intend to watch it happen either, Ava,” she said, her voice firm. “I’ve spent years running from Georgia, from her dark path. But not anymore. Whatever tricks she thinks she can pull, whatever spell she believes she knows… it won’t work on me. Not this time.”
