Prologue

"Miss Lin, I already informed you yesterday. I cannot change your exam's score. It was checked thoroughly by your professors and this school's supervisor!" dinig ang sigaw ni Prof. Edna mula sa labas ng faculty kaya napatingin ang nagdadaanang estudyante sa loob.

Habang si Kendall Lin, isang top student, ay nanatiling nakayuko ang ulo dahil sa inis. Laki siya sa turo ng kaniyang mga abogadong magulang kung kaya't kailanman ay hindi pa siya umatras sa mga argumento o debate, maliban na nga lang kung doon na niya nasisigurado na mali siya. Hindi siya tumatahimik ngayon hindi dahil nahihiya siya, kung hindi iniisip niya kung nararapat pa bang isatinig ang kaniyang problema sa kan'yang marka. Sa limang taon na pag-aaral niya rito sa Cavin Internatiol School ay wala pang nakakuha ng kaniyang puwesto bilang Top 1. Ngayon lang, kaya nais niyang tanungin kung paano siya nawala sa kaniyang lugar. 

"Madam, I just think that maybe there is simply an error-" nais niya pa sanang ipagpatuloy nang doon na tumayo si Prof. Edna.

"How disrespectful of you to even question that, Miss Lin?! I believe of your potential, matalino ka nga! Pero these checkers that you are pertaining to are claimed to be one of the country's finest educators! You do not have the right to question us in your place! Now if you do not have other concerns, I believe we are done talking, get out!" pinal na sabi ni Prof. Edna.

Nang sinubukan muling ibukas ni Kendall ang kaniyang bibig ay natigilan siya nang may biglang pumasok. Agad nagdilim ang paningin niya nang makita si Isaiah Thomas. Isang top student na galing sa Luvie World School, the unofficial enemy school of Cavin Internatiol School. Lumipat ito nang nagbukas ang bagong school year dahil sa mga personal na isyung nangyari sa kanilang pamilya.

Unconsciously, Kendall rolled her eyes at Isaiah, not knowing that Isaiah was just looking at her. 

"Excuse me?" si Isaiah na ngayon ay mayroon nang seryosong ekspresyon.

"Yes?" si Kendall.

"You were scrolling your eyes on me. Do we have a problem?" 

Bumuntong hininga lang si Kendall at napagdesisyunang aalis na lamang siya dahil hindi rin naman na tumatanggap pa ng kung anong pagrarason ang kanilang propesor. Nang nasa pintuan na siya ay nagsalita ulit si Isaiah.

"If you are not smart enough to secure your spot, don't cause inconvenience and cry about it in your Mama's arms."

Kendall scoffed and did not care much about it. She's used to it. Her schoolmates hated her because she's always uptight and she tends to be selfish. She was about to let it slide when she finally went out the faculty room not until she saw it in the board.
