Chapter 4

“Katie!”

Scott and my father immediately ran toward her. No one noticed the blood oozing out from between my thighs.

Scott covered Katie with his jacket, and my father held Jelena.

The entire group rushed to the hospital, but before they left, Scott turned to me in disappointment.

“Claire, it seems like I’ve spoiled you. Please think about what you’ve done.”

In the blink of an eye, the hall was empty.

With trembling hands, I called the hospital, only to be told that all of my supplementary cards had been frozen by either my father or Scott.

Ocean’s Heart had fallen on the floor at some point. As I stared at it, I cried.

Scott’s love was really just him trying to tame me.

He gave me the best cage and the best food so that I would think that I was a princess.

But once I disobeyed him, he would stop giving me money until I apologized to him.

I no longer wanted his “love.”

Seven days passed. I heard nothing from my father or Scott.

Meanwhile, Katie kept uploading videos about them on her Instagram with the hashtag #Happyfamilyof4.

It was then that I learned that they had gone on holiday.

David also told me that all of my assets were being rapidly transferred under Jelena’s name.

[Your father will be selling the entrusted shares during the board of directors’ meeting three days later. If you attend the meeting, you can reclaim all of the assets that have been transferred.]

I clenched what was left of my mother’s mementos tightly and replied with an “okay.”

In the evening, Katie showed off her mate certificate and the false evidence of me “mistreating” her in the past, and Twitter immediately blew up.

[Claire is the mistress!]

[Someone was mistreating Katie for her entire life, only to have her pup end up as an illegitimate child. LOL]

But in less than three minutes, the tweet mysteriously vanished.

Then, Scott called me.

I was not in the mood to answer the phone.

Over the past seven days, I had been bleeding from between my legs nonstop. Since all of my cards had been frozen, I could only go to a small clinic for treatment.

But the tweets Katie posted had caused a huge stir, and soon, someone recognized me. “Are you Claire, the one who stole her own sister’s mate?”

“That’s her! The news said that she forced Scott to bond with her using her family background, but Katie is his true love!”

“Look at her belly. I heard that she’s pregnant with his illegitimate child…”

The pain in my stomach made my voice tremble. “Please call the doctor…”

“Stop with the pitiful act!” A pregnant she-wolf shoved me away. “Mistresses like you disgust me the most!”

Someone grabbed my hair. “Mistresses like you shouldn’t even give birth!”

“I’m not a mistress!” I cradled my belly and backed away. “I’m not! I’m Scott’s real mate!”

Someone snickered. “Everyone already knows that you’re the homewrecker here. You’re denying it? How stubborn!”

I called Scott, but he did not pick up.

Someone threw cold water on me.

“Are you still living in your dreams? He’s enjoying his time with his family, and you’re still bothering him?”

I could not be bothered to wipe the water off and just tried to call Scott again.

It finally went through. But I heard Katie’s voice on the other end.

“You’ve been ignoring Claire for so long. Aren’t you worried that she’ll run away?”

Scott laughed confidently. “I’ve been doting on her for years, so she won’t be able to leave my side. We’ve never been separated for so long, and absence makes the heart grow fonder. It’ll be easy for me to make her happy again when I see her next time. I’ve already bought an island for her. She loves scuba diving.”

Then, his voice turned serious. “Don’t be jealous. I’ll prepare even more gifts for you and our pup. What belongs to me belongs to you.”

The call ended, and the crowd burst into an uproar. Someone grabbed a chair to hit me!

“You really are a shameless mistress! I’m going to kill that illegitimate child of yours!”

Despair filled my entire being…

Bam!

Someone blocked the chair with their arm, and it shattered into pieces.

The bodyguard following him snapped, “How dare you?! The pup Mr. Hoills’s sister is carrying is born to be his heir! How could you call it an illegitimate child?!”

Someone sucked in a sharp breath. “What?! Hoills, the Lycan Chairman who rules over all packs?!”
