They choose to travel the roads that hasn't been use too much before the apocalypse began as this roads as almost deserted so surely, most of the people who were escaping the apocalypse would not take this road as when they panic, they would forget that it's safer to travel in a deserted road because there would be not much obstacle in the road like overturn cars or cars that carelessly park on the road.

Zhi Yin close his eyes as he concentrate to hear the surroundings. Only the sound of wind blowing in his ears and the cars moving along the road could be heard. 

The cars were all driving briskly along the deserted road as the surrounding area became quieter and quieter that made all the drivers more cautious.
