Ever A Never After: Chapter 3

"She fucking shut the door to my face" Daisy said for the third time, pacing in the living room and Jake frowned. Daisy was never one to use swear words.

"Who does that? I was just trying to be friendly and she was so rude damn it"

"I did told you not to disturb my neighbors. Daisy Now can you stop your pacing and sit your ass down so I can watch this movie in peace?"

Daisy stopped and stood directly in front of the TV perfectly obstructing his view and glared down at her brother

"Well I'm sorry for trying to be a good neighbor"

"Go vent your anger on something else and stop bothering me. Or go back to miss nameless and give her a piece of your mind. Your pacing is giving me a headache " Jake stood up and went into his room, since a man can't even watch television in peace in his own house.

He locked the door because he knew that his sister would definitely follow him here, and as it was, he needed to sleep then get back to his painting.

He picked up a framed picture by his bedside and ran his fingers over the smiling face staring back at him.

"I miss you mum"

And he really did. His mother had been the light in the entire Parker's household, and when she died six years ago in a car accident..the peace in the family was gone. Everything changed, there was no more laughter in the house and just a year later he had left his family because he couldn't bear living in such a cage with his monster father.

He had traveled to different countries on a mission of self discovery and development. To find something that makes him happy and build it. It had taken him three years of doing several jobs including bar tending and all..before he discovered painting and decided to stick to it because there was just something about it. The freedom to express his thoughts on a canvas was liberating. And two years later he had gotten very good at it too.

He'd lost all contacts with his family until Daisy contacted him a few months ago. He still hadn't heard a word from Gina, his youngest sister. Not that he didn't want to, but anytime he tried calling her his little sister never answered or returned his calls.

"Please do not leave me all alone here Jake. We are your family, we should be together. You can't leave us" Gina had pleaded in tears that night as Jake packed her clothes in a luggage angrily, but he didn't listen to her. He had brushed past her whispering

"This isn't my family anymore". And that was the last time he ever saw or spoke to her.

"Jake?" Daisy's soft voice from the door interrupted his thoughts.

"I'm trying to rest Daisy. Go away" He mumbled placing the picture back on the desk, though he knew that Daisy would never listen

"I wanna talk to you please"

Jake sighed and got up to open the door for her. Her expression was blank as she stepped into the room. She walked to the bed and sat down while Jane closed the door then went to sit beside her

"I just got a call from the company. There's an important business meeting this weekend so I need to be there"

"Okay, that's in five days... alright" Jake replied. Daisy was the senior manager in his father's company. She had always been the old man's golden child.

"Yeah, I'll be going back in five days. I really need to talk to you. About coming back home."

"Not this again Daisy" He groaned but Daisy didn't stop

"It's been five years already, Jake. We miss you, don't you think it's time to bury the hatchet and let go?"

"Daisy, my home doesn't have to be in New York. I'm an adult so I'm definitely free to go out and live my own life. And that's what I'm doing"

"No Jake...that's totally different. Nobody is asking you not to live your life big bro, but you don't have to abandon your family completely to do that. We still don't know why you left and why you refuse to come see us."

Of course they didn't. Jake was sure that if Daisy knew what happened that night five years ago, she would also hate their father equally just like he did. But he did not want to hurt his sisters by ruining their father for them.

"Whatever happened is bw me and my father. I'm not coming back Daisy and that's it" Jake snapped but Daisy refused to relent

"Well what about us? What about Gina? Whatever dad did to you, why do you have to punish us for it? You have a nephew who has no idea what you look like for christ sake. Is this the life you want?" Daisy exploded and her words tore at Jake's heart like a knife.

"I miss you guys too...but please try to understand me. I know what I'm doing and one day I'll definitely see you and Gina and Alex... But I can't right now.. just let this go for now Daisy"

He murmured and stood up to leave the room.

Daisy stared at her elder brother's back as he left the room with a frown.

"Stubborn he goat" She spat.

She needed to convince him to go back home, she was determined and she wouldn't give up till he agreed.

All Jake is a reason strong enough to push him back home. That's it.

Then an idea came to her immediately and she smiled.

She picked up her phone and dialed a number, waiting for the receiver to answer.

"Hello Nana, I need your help"

If there was anyone who could offer great advice it was their Nana, and she does it very well. Her ideas never fails.

Jake will definitely not know what hit him this time.
