“Devia, you will never win Argantara’s heart!”

The voice pierced my ears the moment I opened the office door that afternoon. Revania stood before me with a triumphant smile. Her posture straight, chin lifted high, her eyes glittering with arrogance.

“Even if you are his wife, don’t ever forget…” She stepped closer, her heels clicking sharply against the marble floor. “I was his first love. Not you.”

A faint laugh came from beside her. A young woman—Revania’s assistant—covered her mouth mockingly.

“How pitiful. The legal wife, yet never seen as a wife. What a shame, Mrs. Devia.”

The words lashed at my pride like a whip. My chest rose and fell heavily, my breath thick with anger. I tried to keep my composure, but Revania pressed on, merciless.

“Devia…” She stopped just an inch away, her smile dripping with malice. “You can parade yourself in front of others, but in front of Argan, you’re nothing but a shadow. I’m the one he truly desires.”

My fists clenched, trembling. And when she shoved me hard, nearly knocking me off balance, my patience snapped.

Straightening myself, I grabbed her wrist firmly. My gaze locked onto hers like steel.

“You think you can treat me like this, Revania?” My voice was sharp, cutting through the air. “You are nothing but the mistress. And that’s all you’ll ever be. If Argan truly loved you, he wouldn’t have kept you hidden as someone’s side woman.”

Her eyes flared with fury, her face twisted with rage.

“How dare you speak to me like that!”

She raised her hand to slap me, but before her palm could touch my face, I caught it midair.

“Enough, Revania,” I said coldly. “I’ve let you humiliate me for too long. But today, that ends.”

Her assistant widened her eyes, then snickered mockingly.

“Hahaha, look at this! Mrs. Devia dares to fight back. Have you forgotten? Even your husband doesn’t side with you. Mr. Argan always stands with Miss Revania.”

I turned, my eyes slicing at her like blades. “Silence. You’re nothing but her shadow. Don’t interfere in the affairs of two women.”

Revania yanked her wrist free with force, her face red, lips trembling with fury.

“Devia! Who do you think you are, talking to me like this?”

I stepped forward, this time pressing her back. “I am his wife. That’s reality. Whether you accept it or not, the world acknowledges me as Argantara’s lawful wife. And you? You remain hidden, a secret in the shadows. Even Argan doesn’t dare show you in public.”

Revania froze, caught off guard, but quickly masked it with a bitter laugh.

“You think I care about what the world says? What matters is that Argan loves me. I’m the one in his heart—not you.”

I stared at her, my voice low but piercing. “If you’re so sure of that, then why—after five years—are you still in the same place? A mistress.”

“DEVIA!” Revania screamed, her face crimson. She raised her hand again, but I stepped back slightly, making her stumble.

“Don’t touch me,” I said coldly. “I won’t lower myself to fight a woman who chooses to live in a man’s shadow. You want to slap me? That only proves your desperation.”

Her assistant stepped forward in protest. “How dare you talk to Miss Revania like that!”

I turned my glare on her, sharp and unwavering. “And how dare you, a mere subordinate, involve yourself in your master’s private affairs? Don’t forget—on paper, I am still the mistress of the Bagaskara family.”

The girl paled instantly, retreating a step in silence.

Revania ground her teeth, pointing her finger in my face. “Devia… you’ll regret every word you’ve just said. I’ll take everything from you. Argan’s love, your position in the company, even your dignity. Everything will be mine!”

A crooked smile curved my lips, though my heart trembled. “Then prove it. I’ve stayed silent for too long. Now… I’ll show you that the Devia you belittle can rise higher than you ever will.”

The air grew tense, heavy, the atmosphere like two lionesses circling for the kill.

A few employees passing by stopped, whispering breathlessly at the heated clash. But I didn’t care.

Revania finally spun on her heel with a sharp flick, slapping away my hand as she stormed past. “You’ll lose, Devia! You’re too naïve to fight me!”

Her footsteps echoed down the hall, her assistant trailing behind with one last hateful glare.

And I stood there, unmoving, my resolve burning hotter than ever.

Morning broke slowly, as if the sky itself hesitated to bring light after the night of chaos. Devia sat on the hospital rooftop, wrapped in a thin blanket Damien had placed on her shoulders hours ago. The city below looked strangely peaceful—cars moving lazily, people rushing to work, unaware of the war Devia had just survived. Her hands still trembled. Her ribs hurt each time she breathed. But she was alive. And for the first time in months… Revania was gone. The police report was short and cold: Revania had died from her injuries after the confrontation in the abandoned warehouse. They couldn’t say if it had been an accident, self-inflicted, or a final desperate attempt to escape. They simply wrote the facts. No details. No emotion. No closure.Devia felt none, either. She only felt tired.Footsteps approached behind her—steady, slow, familiar. Damien. She didn’t need to turn to know it was him. His presence had always carried a weight, a steadiness that somehow kept her grounded.“

The note lay on the coffee table like a piece of poison—small, harmless in appearance, yet heavy enough to suffocate the entire room. No one spoke for a long minute. Even the air felt too thick to breathe.Devia stared at the paper with hollow eyes, her breath trembling in her throat. Damien knelt beside her, keeping a steadying hand on her back while Rama checked every window and corner of the apartment like a soldier preparing for war.Argan stood frozen near the door, torn between stepping closer and stepping back. He wasn’t sure he had the right to do either. It was Damien who finally broke the silence.“We have to move her out of here.”Devia flinched. “Move? Where?”“A safer place,” Damien answered gently. “Somewhere with controlled access. Somewhere she can’t just walk up to your door and—”“Or slide a message under it,” Rama muttered darkly.Argan clenched his jaw. “There’s a secure property owned by the company. Vacant, guarded, out of main routes. She could stay there.”Dami

The storm raged through the night, but by dawn the rain had stopped. What remained was the heaviness in the air—the kind that clung to the skin and made the world feel colder than it was.Devia woke with a start. Her breath came out in shallow bursts, her heart hammering wildly as if trying to break free from her ribcage. She pressed a trembling hand to her chest, calming herself long enough to notice her surroundings. Her apartment was silent. Too silent. The baby slept peacefully in the crib beside her bed, small chest rising and falling, blissfully unaware of the chaos consuming the adults around him.Devia swallowed hard. She had dreamed of the warehouse again—the shadows, the blood, the dragging sound of footsteps echoing like a warning. The nightmares had worsened ever since Damien told her, carefully and reluctantly, that Danu was missing. Not just gone.Missing under violent circumstances. She pulled her legs off the bed and stood, rubbing her arms to ward off the chill. She d

The rain had not stopped since dawn.It slammed against the roofs, poured over the gutters, and flooded the streets like the sky itself was grieving. The storm seemed almost symbolic—violent, unpredictable, and merciless. Just like everything that had been happening.Argan stared at the message on his phone, his breath heavy in his chest.“We found Danu’s car.”The police officer’s text felt like a stone dropping into a deep, dark well. Danu had been missing for days—disappearing right after he told Argan he wanted to “come clean.” Argan hadn’t known what that meant at the time, only that Danu sounded terrified… and desperate. Now the fear shifted into something much worse.Something like dread.Argan grabbed his coat and rushed out of the office, ignoring the concerned glances from his employees. He didn’t even lock the door behind him.He just ran.---The Old WarehouseThe location shared by the police was an abandoned warehouse district on the outskirts of the city—a place long fo

The apartment was unusually quiet.Too quiet.Devia sat on the couch, gently rocking her baby in her arms. The soft hum of the lamp beside her was the only sound in the room. Damien and Rama had stepped out to speak with the building security, leaving her with thirty minutes of solitude—something she used to crave, but now feared more than anything.Ever since the broken baby doll appeared at her door, she could feel a shadow clinging to her, following her. Every creak in the walls, every flicker of the lights, every distant footstep set her nerves on fire.“Just breathe… you’re safe,” she whispered to herself. But even the words felt empty. Her phone buzzed.Devia flinched, nearly dropping the baby. Her heart raced as she reached for the phone on the table. Damien’s name flashed in her mind, or maybe Rama’s, reassuring her that she wasn’t alone. But the screen was blank.Unknown Number. Hidden Caller. Her breath hitched. Her thumb trembled above the screen. She shouldn’t answer. Dami

Argan hadn’t stepped foot in his penthouse for nearly a week. His office had turned into a cramped command center—stacks of files, surveillance photos, police reports, and investigator notes scattered across every surface. The once pristine room now echoed with the chaos inside his mind. The blinds

The night wind brushed against the tall glass windows of the Dirgantara Tower, carrying with it the remnants of a storm that had passed only hours earlier. Argan stood alone in his office, staring at the glowing city lights below. He had not slept properly in days. His thoughts were an endless maze

Stacks of documents were spread before him—financial reports, internal audits, security logs, handwritten notes from meetings he barely remembered attending. All of them led to the same conclusion

Argan had lost count of how many times he had dialed Devia’s number.
