Gosh, Rodrigo was on his way here. I mean, did he know where I lived? Was he going to just show up at my house?

“It’s his birthday today.” I said, hoping he maybe went to spend it with Aaliyah or something, “Maybe he went to celebrate with… her.” I hated talking about her the same way I hated talking about him.

“Yes, it's his birthday, but you know he stopped celebrating it when you left.”

“Oh,” I wasn't interested in hearing more, “Well, does he know my address?”

“You were not hidden because of the new identity and because Rodrigo promised not to look for you, and besides, I thought he trusted me, that he would ask me to look for you instead of hiring someone.”

“You think he knows?” I asked as he sounded a little in distress.

“I honestly don't know, but he doesn't trust me. I told him you were nowhere to be found, and instead of taking my word for it, he hired someone.”

“Wow. What… What should I do now? He can't find me.”

“You did buy a law firm here, correct?”

“Yes, Chris, but this

    But, if there's anything I knew about Carlos, it's that he didn't like a sucker, someone who ran at his pleasure, so clearing my throat, I told her to tell Mr. Carlos I would be with him in twenty minutes.“Ms. Sterling, are you sure? You know he doesn't wait.”“She is now. Will you get your dandruff scalp out of this place?!” Fiona raised her voice at her, and I asked her to calm down. “No, these people should know who brings them millionaire clients here; they should give you your flowers.”“I know, Fiona, but this is not a way to speak to your colleague.”“Well, not for long because I'll be saying goodbye soon.”“What?”“I’m coming with you.”“Y-yes…” I winked as I knew how this place loved gossip, and without a doubt, this would be the talk of the day if they heard I bought my own firm.“Yeah, when you retire of course, which is ten years from now… just ten.”“Yeah, of course, um, listen…” I turned to Carlos' assistant, and she nodded her head. “I think it's best if you write this

    I don't know what the British man has been saying for the past few minutes, as my focus was on my juice. The phone was on the table, and when I was done, I asked him to repeat himself.“What? So you didn't hear anything that I just said?”“I didn't; I was busy.”“But you accepted my call?”“Yes?”“Alright, fine, we need to talk.”“Theo, there's nothing to talk about.”“We are both lawyers, both smart, we both have children of the same age, and we are single; we will make a great couple.”“And I told you I don’t share the feelings.”“I'm giving a hundred percent.”“A relationship doesn't work like that.”“I know, but I also know that you will meet me halfway.”“You know what, fine, we can talk tomorrow at a restaurant of my choice. I am busy today.” I had to get packing and not forget to talk to my daughter.“That’s fine with me; I’m the boss. I can get a vacation anytime I want.” He laughed, which wasn't funny, honestly. “I bought an apartment here; I will send you the address in case

    ‘Think, Valeria, think.’ I beat my head as my brain wasn't working with me; I had to find an excuse quickly before I blew everything up.“I… I’m confused,” Fiona said as she broke out of her own state. Great, she had a big mouth; maybe she could help me get out of this one. “Why do these two look so much alike?” Maybe not.“Honey, um, go upstairs.”“Yes, Mommy, but who is this man? I've never seen him before.”“He is a friend.”“Oh, hi, I am Parker. What is your name?” Parker extended her hand to Rodrigo, who drew his eyes to look at me for a second before looking back at her. “Mommy, your friend is rude. Why isn't he answering me?” Parker sounded annoyed.Well, Rodrigo still seemed to be in shock, and I took that as an opportunity as I got a plate of pancakes, gave it to Parker, and told her to go upstairs back to her room.“No, Mommy, I want to eat here. You said no food in the bedroom.”“Just listen to me today, okay?” I literally had to grit my teeth to scare her a little.Yep, I

    This was messed up, like really messed up. What am I supposed to do now? Because–“The guards, they will help me get rid of Theo,” I whispered to myself before I walked to the door, and outside I called for the guards.“Ms. Sterling, we've been calling. Is everything okay in there?” Two of the guards who were responsible for my safety asked.“I want to see the gatekeeper; I want to know why he let the two men come in without consulting me first.“Ms., I’m so sorry for that, but they both offered me money, and you know the economy—”“You're fired.” I didn't wait to hear more, and he was going to beg when one of the guards asked him to leave my face.“Sorry for the inconvenience. What do you want us to do now?”“How many of you are on duty tonight?”“Nine.” He answered – they were twenty-five in total.“Great, I want the British man gone.”“Mr. Hilton?”“Yes, him. I want him gone.”“The other one, Mr. Roberts?”“You know him?”“Yes, ma'am.”“Well, he can stay the night; now get to work.

    Shit, why on earth did I not check the glass before opening this time? I mean, I had forgotten that he was going to come. He also seemed shocked to see me, as he didn't say a word, but his facial expression gave it away. Well, I was Valentina and not Valeria, so I had to act like Valentina. Technically, Valentina didn't know this man, so… “Hello? Can I help you?” I asked, my voice sounding normal, which didn't shock me, as I had already trained myself on how I would speak to him if I were to see him again. “Valeria?” “Excuse me?” “I… I know you're Valeria. I've been searching for you. I want… I want to apologize for everything I–” “Sir, I think you have the wrong address.” “No, I—hold on…” He quickly reached into his pockets, and since he was looking away, I took that opportunity to center myself. He then brought out his wallet, and I silently watched as he opened it, and there my heart almost jumped out of my chest. A photo of me. It was in his wallet. It didn't shock me;

    The two men were just staring at each other; I could feel the tension building, and I knew if I didn't do something, they might end up touching each other, so I asked Carlos to go since I wanted to face Theo and hopefully instill in his head that we were never ever getting together.“Oh, you want me to leave?” Carlos surprised me with the question, as his intention for coming to the door was to leave.“No, I mean—”“It's okay, love; I will take it from here.” Theo cut me off, which made me turn to him, shocked at his confidence. “You heard the lady, leave.”“No, you know what, I’m staying.”“Carlos—”“No, Valentina, I want to see what you'll do with both of us here,” Carlos said, removing his coat as he walked back to the living room. Theo, instead of turning back and leaving, also followed him in, which made me scoff.No, I couldn't deal with all of this now, two men? One of them was even a mistake; I didn't even know him that well.After taking a deep breath, I followed them, and th
