I remember when I was growing up, after being told I was a surrogate’s daughter, I always wondered who my mom was.

If she was sweet, beautiful, you know, all those things. But I never thought she was a billionaire. Never imagined she was this. A skilled killer. Or a criminal, like Nona called her.

I mean, sure, I thought she was just a broke woman since she did surrogacy. Most people who do that are desperate, broke ones. I thought maybe she was doing illegal things to survive, you know like drugs, but I never imagined she was this bad — especially killing her own parents.

“Baby, I don't understand why we have to meet here,” she said as she pulled away, and I pulled a fake smile. Well, not entirely, as somehow, even with her being this, I was glad she was here. The hug felt motherly, and that I can't deny.

“Yeah. Would you like a glass of water?” I asked, sitting down while she sat and folded her sleeves.

“Oh no, I just came here to talk. Tell me, is she bothering you? I told you, bab

Years ago, I would have easily broken down, having all these people talk crap and judge me without knowing the full story.Yes, I married Rodrigo and even fell in love with him when he was with my sister first, but can you blame me? I was forced to marry Rodrigo. He was my husband for years, and he was and is a very handsome man. Of course, any woman in my position would fall for him. Thus, I wasn't to blame for any of this. The host and Pablo both cleared their throats as if not knowing how to control the audience.“Are you going to shut this down or should we leave?” I questioned the host, and he looked awkward for a minute before he ordered silence.“We will have a turn for questions. For now, we would like to start the interview,” he told the audience, and it seemed to die down a little. “Ms. Wilson, I sincerely apologize.”“We understand. Can we just get on, please?” Pablo seemed to want to be out of here as well.“Of course. Alright, like we always do it, we have…” the host star

The truck didn’t stop. It was still in front of us, the way it went right and left showed the driver was also trying to stop it.I looked at my window and realized we had come in the wrong side of the road, we were at fault, or let me say. Pablo was at fault.Parker…I thought of my baby, now that Rodrigo was in her life it was obvious my evil sister would be in hers too, and with what she and Madeline made me go through, I couldn’t even imagine what they would do to my baby. So, without thinking of the consequences, I took control, jumping on the wheel and turning the car so we could bump into one of the city light poles instead. And it worked. Although it made me hit my forehead against the car and caused me a little headache, it still did and saved our lives.“Holy fuck.” Pablo was breathing heavily as all cars stopped. People jumped out and came to our car and the truck driver’s as he had also moved from the road and forced stopped, which probably made him hit himself against the

Okay, it was still very early, and I had just put my daughter in a car; she was going to be miles away from me, so calming down now was for the best.“Oh wow, I mean…” I chuckled calmly, and don’t be surprised, I’ve done law, all those hours of reading, I mastered the game of calmness. “I haven’t run a campaign before.”“Well, I have faith in you, and I have no choice, so I’ll have my assistant call you to set up all the meetings, or, you know what, let me meet you at the firm.” I didn’t know why she was sounding so calm about this.“I would love to, but I’m on leave.”“Well, not anymore. Now I have an early meeting I gotta run.” And just like that, she took me in her arms, and apparently we were hugging—a brief hug—before she quickly broke it off and headed for the door without turning back.Well, I didn’t waste a minute either. As soon as I saw she was gone, I made it to the elevator, then up to my penthouse.“Honey, how are you?” I found Nona up, holding a cup of coffee in my kitch

There was no time to think or figure anything out. My mother was downstairs, probably hoping to kill someone, and I had to act fast. A woman who kills her own parents is a dangerous one to me.“You’re not coming up, Mama,” I said.“Oh baby, this is not how it works.”“Oh yes, it’s how it works. You’re going to go home, rest, and wait for me to meet you tomorrow so we can calmly talk.”“I am trying to protect you.”“I’m doing the same.”“But that’s not how motherhood works. See, I do the protecting, and right now—”“Right now it’s late, and you need to rest.” I cut her off, hoping on the small shred of what Nona told me—that she cared about me. I hoped it was enough to make her listen to me.“Baby…” she sighed. From her tone, I could tell it was working.“Please. I promise you, tomorrow we’ll talk, and if your reason is valid, I’ll let you do what you want.” I only said that to calm her.“Okay fine. Greet my granddaughter for me, okay? Take care.”“Goodnight to you too,” I said, and th

Well, I don’t know why, but my heart was beating. I wasn’t sure if it was because I was afraid to hear the story of Mom or the whole politician thing, but I wanted answers, and that’s for sure.I was now in the kitchen, making the woman, hold on, my aunt, a cup of tea. She was shivering, rubbing her arms so aggressively that I somehow pitied her.Walking back to her, I handed her the cup and asked if she needed a cookie or something.“Thank you,” she said, shaking her head before she took a sip of her tea. I nodded, then walked to the coat hanger and picked one of my coats, coming back to put it on her as she continued shivering.“I wish this room could get warmer,” I said, as the room was cold.“Believe me, I’m not shivering from the cold,” she said. I nodded, then sat down on the couch, my eyes on her.“Your mother–”“Oh yes. You said she was going to kill you?” I asked, and she nodded. Even though I preferred she calm down first, I couldn’t wait any longer.“She has the right to, b
