"Is it just my eyes or have you really added so much, the last time we were on a video call, your face wasn't this fat?" Nat asked over the phone as I angled the camera to show only my face.

I gulped down. "I guess I've been eating so much lately. I mean, I've gone back to my silly habit of late-night snacks." I chuckled trying to ignore the way her eyes were still scanning my face.

"You should take a break from it if that's the case. Unless you're not trying to watch your weight anymore," Nat said.

Her eyes immediately shifted to the side of the screen and she smiled before leaving the screen.

I blew out a breath I didn't know I was holding. Lying to my best friend for the past nine months has been one of the toughest tasks.

Natalia thinks I now live in my own apartment with a job I lied about getting. I've avoided video calls with her as much as I can, telling her how busy and tired I was.
