CHAPTER 37

The same scenery of wide fields here and there greeted me. In the middle of the day, the rice had already been harvested, and the field was brown. There were patches of local forage for animals, and I noticed cows and goats roaming the peaceful pastures.

The road we took ended at the Clayland Plantation's gate. The chemical scent of paint told me that the estate, like the fields around it, was kept in immaculate condition. When we arrived at the estate, I opened the car window to smell the fresh scent of flowers scattered throughout the grounds. When the car finally came to a stop in front of the residence, I took a deep breath.
