"Mom, he needs to rest. He can resume back to school tomorrow,"

I said it calmly. Politely. But inside, my heart was racing.

My mother had just announced that Damon would be going back to school tomorrow. After weeks in the hospital. After weeks of me keeping him asleep. After weeks of me finally having Ella to myself.
