"I just wanted a wife,"he said, his voice dropping to a near whisper. "A woman my father would approve of. Someone who would make him back off. A woman I could take to events, have by my side as I built my empire. A partner, at least to the outside world. That’s what I needed you for.”

He reached out and tucked a stray strand of hair behind my ear, his touch surprisingly tender. "In return," he continued quietly, "I could give you anything. Luxury. Security. A life where you’d never have to worry. Everything most people spend their lives chasing."

His hand dropped away.

"Everything," he said, "except sex."

Heat crept up my neck and into my cheeks, my thoughts tripping over each other; offended, relieved, confused all at once. I had to swallow just to steady myself.

"Why?" The question tumbled out. "Why can’t you have sex with your wife?"

Not because I wanted him to have sex with me. I didn’t. But none of it made sense. Why go through the effort of marriage, of promises and appearance

I knew he was gay. I don’t know how she is going to get rid of Landon though. I am so thoroughly invested in this story.

  • FALLING FOR THE WRONG BROTHER.    Chapter 89

Landon’s POV I don’t know why I came here.Maybe it was because it was the first place I’d brought Kasey. Where we’d ended up having our first… no, second kiss. It was definitely the same place I’d gone down on her for the first time, tasting her, feeling her hands in my hair, her breaths turning into moans that echoed off these walls. Our dynamic shifted that night. The next time we were alone, she’d returned the favor, her mouth a sweet, hot heaven that had me seeing stars. We’d met here dozens of times after that. Fucking on the old leather couch, against the dusty bookshelves, on the threadbare rug by the fireplace. I’d drop her back home in the wee hours, her skin still smelling like me and sweat and this old house. If only I could turn back time. I’d do everything right. I wouldn’t lie to her. I’d tell her the goddamn truth and let her make her own decision. But I hadn’t. I’d woven a web of so many fucking lies, all to keep her, and all it did was push her into someone else’s a

  • FALLING FOR THE WRONG BROTHER.    Chapter 88

I stood in the middle of the reception hall, my heart pounding like it might jump out of my chest. The place was simple but nice; a rented ballroom in the city with white tablecloths, soft lights hanging from the ceiling, and flowers everywhere. Roses mostly, red and white ones that smelled sweet but not overpowering. It wasn't some grand affair; we'd kept it small on purpose. After all, Darren and I had already signed the papers at the courthouse that morning. No big ceremony, just the legal stuff to make it official. Now, this was just for family and a few friends to eat, chat, and pretend everything was normal. The reception was buzzing with people. Darren's side dominated; his two older brothers, Trent and Marco, stood near the bar, laughing with some cousins. They were big guys with broad shoulders and the kind of presence that screamed mafia.Their dad moved through the crowd like a king, shaking hands. His wife, Serena, stuck close to him, elegant in a deep blue dress, her hai

  • FALLING FOR THE WRONG BROTHER.    Chapter 86

Kasey’s POVI sat across from Darren with my knees pressed together and my shoulders stiff, like if I moved too much I might shatter whatever fragile calm had settled in the room.He hadn’t spoken a word since I’d arrived, since I’d sat down, since my heart had climbed into my throat and decided to stay there. He just poured me a drink, gestured for me to sit, and then took the seat opposite me.I twisted the stem of my glass between my fingers, round and round, until my skin felt slick with condensation. My stomach tightened with every second that passed. He was going to say it. I could feel it coming, the moment where he would lift his head, look me in the eye, and drop the bomb that would blow my life apart. The waiting was killing me. I couldn’t take it anymore."The ice has melted," I said quietly gesturing weakly with my glass. "In your drink. It’s just… water now."It was the stupidest thing I could have said. But it worked. His eyes flicked up for a second, like he hadn’t expe

I shook my head. "Doesn’t matter what she felt once. She hates my fucking guts now.""Does she?" He tilted his head, his eyes narrowing. "Or are you just telling yourself that to make it easier? And let’s be real, you love her too. Deny it all you want, but deep down, you know it. Why else would you risk everything? The club, Dad’s respect, your whole damn future? You wouldn’t torch it all for some casual fuck."My chest tightened, his words clawing at the walls I’d built up. I wanted to snap back, tell him he was full of shit, but the lie stuck in my throat. Because yeah, he was right. I loved Kasey. Had for years. That kitchen kiss had cracked something open in me, and nothing had sealed it shut since. "It doesn’t fucking matter how I feel," I said finally. "She’s marrying another man. End of story."He rolled his eyes with that familiar, dismissive gesture. "And that stopped you before? You knew she was off-limits when you fucked her. So save the noble bullshit for someone who buy

  • FALLING FOR THE WRONG BROTHER.    Chapter 84

Landon’s POV I sank lower into the cushioned chair and let my head fall back against the wood paneling behind me, staring up at nothing in particular. The spa had done its job—too well, maybe. My muscles were loose, warm and heavy and my skin still smelled like eucalyptus and something clean and expensive that had no business being on a man like me.Physically, I felt fine. Better than fine, actually. And that almost made it worse, because my head was a fucking war zone, tearing itself apart while the rest of me sat there pretending to be relaxed. The whiskey in front of me was proof of that disconnect. It sat untouched on the table. I’d picked it up a few times, brought it to my lips, taken the smallest sips possible—as if too much of it might strip away whatever thin control I still had left. Like if I drank it properly, everything I’d been holding back would come crashing out at once and I didn’t trust myself enough for that. Two days.In two fucking days I was getting married.Th
