Alfredo's POV

"The Ruby."

Fred said it from the war room doorway, voice low and tight in a way that made me drop everything immediately.

It was barely past the fifth hour. Mabella had shaken me awake twenty minutes earlier with that look on her face — the one that said shit had changed overnight and she needed me up before she could even breathe through it. Serena stood right behind her, calm as hell, like she’d been waiting three years just for this moment.

Mabella had shaken me awake twenty minutes earlier with that look on her face — the one that said shit had changed overnight and she needed me up before she could even breathe through it. Serena stood right behind her, calm as hell, like she’d been waiting three years just for this moment. Now the four of us were crammed in the war room with the early morning grey pressing against the windows. Fred had the old vault records spread open on the table like they’d personally betrayed him."The protection wards," Fred said, eyes still glued to the papers. "Last renewal was seven years ago.""The protocol’s supposed to happen every five," I said slowly, already feeling the weight sink in."Yeah.""So they’ve been weakening for two years."Fred just nodded. "Yes."I turned and looked at my mother. She met my eyes without f

  • FAT GIRLS can’t be LUNA   The Sacred Ruby Was Never Safe

Mabella's POV"He cried once."Serena said it so softly I almost missed it. She was cradling her tea with both hands, staring into the low flicker of the lamp like the memory was playing right there in the flame."Alfredo?" I asked."Yeah." She gave a small nod. "He was seventeen. His father had just sat him down and told him he’d be Alpha one day. Instead of looking proud, he came straight to my room that night. Sat in the chair by my bed and didn’t say a single word for the longest time." She paused. "Then he cried. Quiet. Like he was trying to do it without making a sound."I watched her face. "What did you do?""Nothing," she said. "I just let him. That’s the part nobody warns you about when you’re raising someone strong. Sometimes the best thing you can do is sit there and not look away while they fall apart." She met my eyes. "He needed to know I could see all of it and still believe he’d be okay."The lamp hissed softly between us."He doesn’t cry now," I murmured."No," Serena

  • FAT GIRLS can’t be LUNA   The Fourth Hour Confessions

Mabella's POV"You're awake."Serena's voice came from the doorway, low and warm in the middle of the night. I looked up from my tea, a little startled but not surprised. She stood there in her heavy shawl, boots still on like she’d just come back from the ride."So are you," I said, waving her in. "Come sit. Couldn't I sleep?""I wake at the fourth hour," she replied, crossing the room and dropping into the chair across from me like it was hers. "Always have. Old habit that refuses to die." She eyed my cup. "Any more of that tea left?"I stood up, poured her one, and slid it over. We both settled back, the lamp burning low between us, the rest of the palace dead quiet."How are you feeling?" I asked after a minute. "Honestly. After yesterday.""Strong," she said simply, wrapping both hands around the warm cup. "Tired, yes, but strong. That ride showed me I still have a long way to go with my stamina." She let out a small huff. "Caspian is going to be absolutely insufferable about it,

  • FAT GIRLS can’t be LUNA   The Ashborne Queen Closed the War

Alfredo's POV"That's her," Fred said quietly.I was already kicking my horse forward before the words fully left his mouth. The pre-dawn air was grey and biting cold as I closed the distance. Even from here I could tell it was her — the way she sat that horse, back straight like a queen, chin tilted up, that unshakable certainty in every line of her body. Three years in a bed and she still looked like she owned the damn road.I pulled up beside her.She turned her head and met my eyes."You're faster than I expected," she said, almost amused."You left the charter open to page one hundred and forty-seven," I shot back. "What the hell did you expect?"The corner of her mouth twitched. Almost a smile.I scanned her face, her posture, her hands on the reins. The color was good. Eyes sharp. No shakes. "You alright?""I'm perfectly fine," she said. "I told you I would be.""You told me nothing," I growled. "You left a damn note.""A very thorough note," she corrected, calm as ever.Mabell

  • FAT GIRLS can’t be LUNA   The Ashborne Matriarch Rode Alone

Mabella's POV"She's gone."Vida’s voice cut through the door, low and sharp, right before dawn. I jerked up in bed, heart already pounding like it knew before my brain did.Alfredo was half out of the sheets beside me, cursing as he tangled his legs trying to stand."Who?" he barked toward the door."Serena," Vida said. "Room’s empty. Caspian checked an hour ago — she wasn’t there. Shawl gone. Boots gone." She paused like the words hurt. "Nobody saw her slip out."Alfredo was already yanking his jacket on, movements jerky. I scrambled after him, feet cold on the floor, stomach in knots. The corridor hit us like ice. Fred was already planted outside her door by the time we got there, looking washed out, that tight pale thing around his eyes. The room was dead quiet. Bed untouched. No shawl. No boots. Just the charter lying open on the side table and one folded note on top with Alfredo’s name in Serena’s handwriting.I snatched it up and pushed it at him.He ripped it open. Scanned it.

  • FAT GIRLS can’t be LUNA   She Returned as Pack’s True Luna

Mabella's POV"We're almost there."Fred rode up next to me, nodding toward the trees where I spotted the old pack territory markers lining the road.“How far?” I asked.“Twenty minutes,” he answered. The markers came closer. Wolflina moved with that warm, certain feeling of home. Something inside me let go, something I hadn’t realized I’d been holding tight the whole two days.“Serena knows we’re coming,” Alfredo said from my other side.“She’s been awake since dawn,” Fred piped up. “Caspian sent word.”I smiled a little. “Of course she has.”We crossed into the territory. Everything felt familiar again—the roads smoother, the land falling back into place. I sat a little taller. Wolflina pushed forward, energized.Home.Twenty minutes later, the gates rose up just as Fred promised. There wasn’t a formal welcome party. Instead, a small crowd stood at the entrance—people who had heard we were on our way and came to see us for themselves.Sera Kade waited at the front. She looked at me,
