Jason Halem believed in order, tradition, and his pack. Those were his principles. He had no concern with the issues of the heart and he was just fine with being alone until he met Jasmine Calvin, the walking chaos that stumbled into his office and ended up taking more than just his secretary position. She was not a werewolf like him but that didn't stop her reign over his entire life, for she was his mate. Jasmine Calvin knew how to work a man to her advantage and she had her eyes on the wealthy cold hearted Jason Halem. He intrigued her in every sense of the word and from the moment she saw him, she knew he would not be an easy case to crack.
view moreShe looked as close to perfection as anyone could imagine. An absolute stunner in a dark red skirt that accentuated her voluptuous hips with a slit at the lower end that reached well into her long thighs. She had on a cream coloured top and left a few buttons unbuttoned, providing just the right tease.
Her red heel could be heard from a mile away and she tucked her hair neatly in a professional manner but left a few strands to play at the side of her face. Lips bright red and ready to seduce any living thing.
She was naturally tall, 5'8 but in her heels she was reaching 6ft. Her movement was like a beautiful dance moving in perfect rhythm with each step she made and with a confidence that only a stunning face like hers could provide.
Jasmine Calvin boldly walked into Jason Halem's life, ready to create as much havoc as possible.
"Good day Miss," the receptionist greeted at the sight of her.
Jasmine definitely did not look like she was just here to apply for a vacancy, she looked like a boss, an epitome of faking it till you make it.
In truth she stayed in a little apartment downtown, she was barely able to pay her rent and at 25 she was still hustling for that big break. She graduated with honors with a degree in journalism but loved independence more than working a 9 to 5 job, so she has been on her own, telling only the stories that she wanted to tell.
That was what landed her in Halem's corporation this fateful Monday. Call it a hunch, but she had a deep feeling that Jason Halem, the town's most eligible bachelor, was hiding a deep secret and she was bent on cracking it open.
Nothing but good was known about him in the media, he was a clean slate, no scandal, no girlfriend, nothing. He was a mystery and somehow everyone just decided he had no dirt but Jasmine knew better, nobody could be that perfect.
"Good day…. Claire, I'm here to apply for the Secretary position for Mr Halem," She replied, reading the receptionist's name off her name tag, getting straight to the point as soon as possible.
Claire the receptionist looked completely nonplussed, never had she seen an applicant look this good! Certainly this young lady was mistaken.
Yes, this was a billion dollar company, still she didn't peg this exotic beauty as the secretary type. She thought to herself how she would never work a day in her life if she looked the way this gorgeous woman did.
Claire still had to respond as the woman before her was already starting to look impatient.
"Oh that's right.. Uh… and what's your name please?" Claire stuttered.
"Jasmine, Jasmine Calvin," she replied with a little smile, slightly revealing her perfect dentition.
"Okay, hold on for a minute," Claire said, going through her computer system to check for the file.
Jasmine was trying all she could to hold back her laughter but she was almost at her limit. Watching the cute receptionist get all flustered was the only piece of joy she knew she would experience today.
She knew how beautiful she was, people always made it so obvious with their bold or sometimes subtle compliments. After a while though the compliments became a bore.
It was not that she was unhappy because she was beautiful, far from it actually. What irked her was when people saw her as just some pretty face, an object to be admired, when she was way more than that and she has worked throughout her life to prove just that.
She could not deny the fact though that her face did make a few things somewhat easy for her. You see, people loved to be around her, loved to see her smile and wanted her approval. She just could not see the logic behind their behavior, still she used it all to her advantage.
"Oh Jasmine Calvin, you did send in your application," the receptionist stated with strong disbelief in her voice.
Jasmine did not know how to reply to that so she simply nodded. She did not look like your typical Secretary but that was the plan anyways.
She had learnt a long time ago to use what you have to your utmost advantage and she planned to get the billionaire in the palm of her hand by the end of the day.
"Okay then, here's your tag, please put it on and go down the hall to your left and take a seat, I'll call for you shortly," Claire, the receptionist told her.
She found that the girl had finally recovered from the initial surprise and spoke more normally to her. She said a simple thank you and followed her directions.
As she turned to the left she however was reminded how coveted this position was. About a dozen okay looking girls were already seated, looking extremely nervous but ambitious.
She expected this much competition at least. He was after all the town's most eligible bachelor. Some of the girls looked like they really came for the job and not just the CEO's handsome face, but the majority looked like all they wanted was a minute with Mr Halem, who could blame them though?
This just became so much more fun for her. Jasmine was never one to lose a fight and she knew that these girls had nothing on her. Still she didn't let her guard down, she could not lose this opportunity.
She had to get close to Jason Halem and uncover his deepest darkest secrets at all cost. She had done a thorough research on him and knew everything there was to know about him, which wasn't much by the way.
It was a puzzle to her how someone as well known as him had so little known about him. He was like a mysterious wonder… but not for long anyway. She was going to get the break of the century selling whatever secrets he was keeping from the public.
She did not care if people thought she was cruel and heartless. She was looking out for the number one person in her life: herself. Nobody else mattered, she had no one and she was fine with that.
What she wasn't fine with was the time she had to wait to finally get her interview. Mr Harlem clearly liked to be "thorough", judging from the amount of time he spent on each interview.
It didn't help that she was the last person on call but she was a little reassured by the look of sincere sympathy from the receptionist.
Well I don't need your pity Claire! I need you to tell your boss to hurry up. She groaned.
However she couldn't blame her, it wasn't up to her how long the interview took. The only person responsible for all this was Jason Halem.
After the long wait she was finally ushered into his office for the interview.
About time, don't you think?
Claire led the way, knocked gently on the door and let her in.
The only person in the room whom she guessed was Jason had his back to her as he stared at the view of similar looking beautiful tall buildings.
The office was magnificently built. She gasped a little at the extravagant display of wealth. The room was extremely spacious, definitely not her type in the slightest. Even the floor looked expensive. The office had a dark theme as expected from someone so covert about his life.
She had barely walked two steps into the office when she heard the most beautiful voice ever speak to her.
"Miss Jasmine, please have a seat," he basically commanded her.
He still had his back to her and although that act seemed condescending, she still could not get over his voice ringing in her ears.
His voice was deep and steady, but at the same time it seemed enticing. She could not really put a feeling to it but it made her want to listen to him talk all day and all night long.
Snap out of it Jasmine! You can't lose focus! Not now.
"Thank you Mr Halem," she said, trying to sound as polite as possible.
Now he finally turned towards her and she concluded that his pictures certainly did not do him any justice. Before her was the most handsome being she had ever seen in her entire life.
However he was more than just beauty, he was insanely attractive, beyond words could describe. He had dark hair that was long enough to be sleek on his head but short enough that he looked professional.
His eyes were the deepest golden colour she had ever seen. He had a full lip that was perfectly heart shaped and a jaw so chiseled that it could actually break ice into two.
She was stunned. He was a stunning man and he looked at her like he wanted to devour her right there right now and strangely something in her wanted him to.
Chapter 62Jasmine woke up with what felt like an epiphany, like she was feeling things for the very first time but those emotions had always been there. She felt a longing, a need to be held by a familiar hand, she had a craving to be in the warm embrace of someone… and that someone was Jason. From the moment she woke up he was all she wanted to see, but it was strange because she had a recollection of the emotions but she still had no memory of Jason, she still had no recollection of him or their time together, but these strange feeling of familiarity surged through her in ways she could not explain. Just then Jason came into her hospital room, putting a face to the emotions going through her. She knew she loved him, but how could she love someone she still could not remember. "You're awake!" He exclaimed as soon as he saw her. He rushed to her side and cautiously held her hand, he wasn't sure how she would react to a gesture like that so he was being careful. She didn't push
Chapter 61 "How do you think I feel? Hope, my world is crumbling right before me and there's nothing I can do about it," he yelled. "I'm sorry Jason, I didn't know that it would turn out like this," she pleaded. "How exactly did you think this would turn out, please tell me what was your plan exactly?" He asked her, unmoved by the tears that were starting to form in her eyes. "Well I knew there was bad blood between Dominic and I, but I didn't know that he would react that way. I thought he would be willing to help because of the history we had," she explained. "And what sort of history do you have with someone like that?" He asked her sternly. She hesitated before she answered his question and all Jaosn was able to think was that she was trying to think of a good lie to tell him. He could never believe a word that came from her mouth, not even if she promised that she was telling the truth, not even if she swore on her life. Certainly she didn't think that he would believe a
Chapter 60 Jason had never seen Dominic even though he had heard so much about him, but the man standing in front of him right now looked every bit like the image he portrayed. Dominic was tall and slim built with very broad shoulders and a slim waist. He had scanty brown hair and light brown eyes. He wasn't built like your stereotypical werewolf but one look at his sharp eyes and you'd know that he was the embodiment of evil. He had very thin lips that stretched into an evil smirk every now and then, like it was his default expression. Jason has been with him for less than 5 minutes and he could already tell that it was a big mistake coming here in the first place if this was the guy that they were supposed to meet. This man was not someone that was ready to help, especially with whatever was going on between him and Hope. "Can you believe it! The prodigal daughter finally returns!" He exclaimed as soon as he saw Hope. For a moment there Jason wondered how exactly Hope became
Chapter 59"Don't raise your voice, people might suspect otherwise," Hope cautioned him. And true to her words two tall pale looking men that looked like they were in their late thirties glanced towards their direction. They each had a partner with them and from one glance you already could tell what was going on. They were vampires, the kind with old blood from the color of their eyes and their sunken dark eye sockets. Also their reflexes were extremely sharp but they were extraordinarily calm, perfectly capable of controlling their emotions, unlike the modern day vampires that reacted to everything around them. Most vampires were intensely sensitive, erratic in motion and annoyingly unstable, especially in the presence of werewolves, whom for some weird reason they considered rivals. These two however were unusually calm even though the supernaturals have already identified what each was. It was obvious that they had been around for a very long time from the way they controlled
Chapter 58 Jason was starting to get suspicious… well he had always been suspicious but this time around his gut feeling thought that there was something very wrong, and it was a lot more than usual. One would think that maybe Hope had forgotten the whereabouts of this friend that would lead them to this witch that could solve all their problems. "Hope, how long till we get there already, I've been driving for hours but it seems this friend of yours lives on the other side of earth!" He said sternly, just like he had said a few times before. "We're almost there, just keep following the directions I gave you," she would always say. She was being way too mysterious with everything. She had refused to give out the exact location of this source of hers, for this source's security, she had said. Well that's nice, but what about their own security? He didn't exactly feel 100% safe going blind into a place that he had no information on, to see someone he had no idea about. Who exactl
Chapter 57 After what looked like an eternity of awkward silence in the hotel room, they all finally checked out of the hotel and were back on the road. Chad was extremely polite this morning, somehow he seemed to have finally found his manners and still avoided eye contact with the trio. He was more than happy to speed up the process of checking them out of his hotel as he could not wait to finally be rid of the three extremely strange, terrifying people. "Have a nice day," Chad told them as they made to leave. "We sure will, you too Chad," Hope answered. She seemed to be in a good mood, unlike the other two, who were already halfway to the vehicle by the time he spoke. All Jasmine wanted to do was get as far away from here as soon as possible. She wanted to forget everything that happened in this place and she reasoned that the farther away from here that she was, the sooner she would let all the experiences go. However she was only kidding herself. She had no potion to make
Chapter 56 Jason was up by dawn, he had always had trouble sleeping and the nightmares were back, fiercer than before. They only stopped when he was with Jasmine, when she was still the woman that loved him as much as he loved her, she gave him the kind of peace he could not comprehend, but now that was gone and he was back to the nights of terror. This nightmare was a new one, it was confusing and he could only vaguely remember it, but one part that stuck with him was that he was searching for something, but he found another thing instead. He could not remember what he was searching for, nor what he found instead, but he knew there was a mismatch. He felt lost in the dream, just as lost as he felt in real life. He woke up sweating even though the air conditioner in the room was working to an extent, it wasn't perfect but at least it wasn't completely broken down. His first reaction was to look towards Jasmine and he saw her sleeping soundly like the beauty that she was. What a
Chapter 55If you had told Jasmine that she would be spending a night in the same room with the annoying Jason she definitely would not have believed you. Even if you had come with a crystal ball, a palm reader and a soothsayer, she would have laughed at your face and reminded you that she didn't believe in most of these fetish stuff. Knowing that werewolves, vampires and witches exist was even a stretch to her belief system, adding all these other kinds of people might just be the last straw before she goes gaga. Unfortunately though this was just a coincidence and not something planned by fate. She recalled the look of pure fear in Chad's eyes as he announced that there were only 2 rooms left. The poor guy was already at the verge of pissing in his pants and any moment from now he could even faint if pushed any further. She tugged on Jason's shirt, prompting him to accept the rooms as it were. Nobody noticed that she did this apart from Jason himself. Hope was too busy staring
Chapter 54 "You do know that we've been waiting here, trying to get someone to attend to us for what seems like forever and you just show up like you don't even care?!" Hope said with disgust clearly written over her face, and conveyed through the tone of her voice. She was usually able to hide her feelings, to put on a mask, to pretend to feel something else apart from her true feelings, to smile and say everything was alright even when it wasn't. She had been so used to this facade that it almost felt like she was living two lives, walking about in a life of two faces. She had to do this because nobody really understood her, they could say they did, but she knew they would be lying. How could they? Nobody ever gave her a chance to tell her own story, no one ever thought for a second if she was alright or not. They brushed off her feelings because she wasn't a fragile human like Jasmine and her werewolf bloodline wasn't royal like Jason and Nathan. Life was never kind to her bu
