ALPHA KAEL’S POV

“Alpha Kael!!!”

My heart jumped at Marcus’s unexpected entry into the throne room, his aura high as always, the same as when he’s on a mission. “Alpha, the rogues are at it again; they attacked,” Marcus angrily said.

His eyes expressing rage from within, I didn’t let that obstruct what I’m about to do before he walked in. Whilst he was waiting for my response, I opened the secret letter brought in last night.

It reads, “ALPHA KAEL, WE HEREBY DECLARE MOONCREST TAKEN BY US.”

As short as that was, there was no additional sentence saying the sender or their location, but it says it all. Yes, all the necessary hurtful messages were passed across in a sentence. Their domination must've spilled much blood.

“My instinct is telling me this letter is from the rogues.” I gave the letter to him.

He carefully held on to it like an egg. “This is definitely from them, Alpha Kael,” he growled, crushing his fist together.

“Relax, Marcus; we can’t be thinking like them; they are criminals.” I stood and approached him at the center of the throne room.

“But we need to…” he said, but I cut his words short.

“We need to act fast, right?” I completed his sentence, “I know, Marcus, we won’t be acting fast, only we are definitely acting smarter than them.” I declared sharply,

“Yes, my Alpha!” Marcus smiled.

We’ve come a long way as a pack to allow such wolf rogues to intimidate lower packs, all in the name of gaining power and resources.

“What’s this intense feeling roaming in my heart?” It was the same familiar strong feeling I felt the day we had rescued Elara.

I had tried to figure out what really caused the sensational feelings, but it still remains a mystery.

“Alpha Kael, what’s wrong?” Marcus asked, leaning in closer and placing his hand gently on my shoulder, “Do you need water? Let me call one of the wa…?”

“No need to worry; I’ll be fine.” I tapped his hand as he turned to the door, “but my wolf could sense ….”

Elara’s appearance caught me off guard; I wasn’t able to complete my sentence. Elara walked in alongside Amelia, my stubborn but cool sister.

“She’s definitely your mate!” My wolf whispered to me,

“I know.” I can feel her too; it was enigmatic, magical, and different from what I feel around Maya.

I couldn’t take my gaze off her as they walked into the room. Elara was wearing simple royal attire, one of many I’d bought for Amelia.

Marcus noticed my sudden mood swing. “Uhn uhn!” He cleared his throat.

“I’m with you, Marcus,” I responded in pretense.

“Hello,” Amelia greeted.

“I greet you, Alpha Kael.” Elara exchanged pleasantries, her bow before me fast and imperfect, confirming my doubt. She’s royal herself, like I suspected; she’s definitely

“Amelia, How are you doing?” Marcus spoke softly; he has been interested in her but still finds it difficult to summon the courage to ask her out. Maybe he's afraid of what I will say or if she will turn him down.

“What do I owe this unexpected visit to?” I said,

"So sorry for the intrusion, it was..." Elara tried to explain, but Amelia cut her short.

“I’m showing Elara around the whole place to get familiar, just like I promised.” Amelia replied,

“Really!” My glance was fixed on Elara the whole time.

“We will be on our way now.” Amelia took her hand; they continued with their exploration around the throne.

Then silence,

“I think there’s something to why you rescued her.” Marcus broke the silence.

“What!” I said, like I didn’t hear him the first time.

“I thought you just wanted to save her, then send her back to Alpha Darius of Silvercrest?” I understand everything he’s referring to.

“Of course I’ll do what I had promised,” I reassured. “In fact, I’ll arrange a meeting with her father next week.”

“Immediately!” he replied. “One more thing, my Alpha Kael.”

“Spare me the formality; you are my friend, you are my brother, and I’ve told you to call my name,” I declared sharply before continuing. "We grew up like two brothers; let it be like that."

“Regardless of that, you are still my Alpha,” he jokingly said. “I think you are falling for her.” He dropped the bombshell like it was nothing.

“Maya or who?” I tried to avert the fact that “in as much as I’m still searching for my real mate, it can be anyone.”

My words sounded convincing, but not to Marcus; he knew me more than I know myself. He's like a brother I never had.

“The shiny blue glowing in your eyes is far more than what you preach, my Alpha; that’s something huge.” I remained speechless.

Approached my big leather chair, “Marcus, tonight we attack the rogues’ camp,” I diverted our conversation to another angle. “They’ve grown too many wings; it’s time to cut it off.” I spoke sternly.

He growled, “I’ll send the messenger to Silvercrest and assemble the men for tonight’s attack.”

"I need to put an end to their insolence." With that order, I know I've declared a war. "This is just the beginning of a whole new rulership."

"Yes," Marcus nodded, slowly took his now halfway,

Then stepped out; there was silence. My heart skipped whenever I remember her. I guess Marcus is right after all. I think I'm loving her. I think Elara is my MATE, but it's so difficult for me to accept.

"I need to consult, Melissa, ASAP."

I assume Elara left because she was heartbroken or because she's wolfless, and I'll try my possible best to ensure Darius gets her back.

"Alpha Kael!" Damian, one of my betas, called.

"What is it?" I asked, my voice etched with concern.

"It's time for your speech."

My warrior's life meant everything to me; making a motivational speech for them to face death with courage has always been the hardest thing in my entire life as an ALPHA.

"We leave no stone unturned, NO SURVIVAL!"

At first I’d thought she was missing her twin sister, Elara, but after observing for months now, it’s beginning to make a lot of sense to me.“Adrian, are you here?” She quickly adjusted herself from the marbled tiled floor she sat on. “When did you come back from the elders meeting?” she asked, like she cared about anything other than herself.“Not quite long,” I responded and continued, “but why are you in such a position?”“What do you mean?” I know she wouldn’t want to accept I caught her this time.“Don’t give me that silly excuse of doing yoga this time.” I hit the nail on the head. She calmed, walked a bit from her present spot, and took her silver armlet from the table.“Why are you tr

Elara's POV "I think I'm in the wrong place," I mused thoughtfully to myself as I gazed at the long dining table, filled with different kinds of foods and drinks, the ones I've seen and the ones I have not, precisely their native delicacies."Cheers to our victory," Alpha Kael rose to a toast, and they all joined him with their glasses raised. "Cheers!!!" They said simultaneously, and their glasses clinked together. I sat silently, observing everyone from my position at the table; my worried gaze alone says it all. The whole scenario is strange, and I'm the odd one."What are they celebrating?" My mind began to play tricks on me, leaving me vulnerable amongst them."Let the food go round, Cara; let the new bird feast from our hands for the first time." Alpha Kael signaled to his maid. She didn't hesitate; she moved the silver tray around, placing the plate gently in front of each person."Did they win a war, or is it their tradition to celebrate someone that almost died?" The rogue

Mixed with wolf scent and fear and something else I couldn’t identify.“There,” Marcus pointed to a figure collapsed just inside our border. “It is female. Badly injured.”We approached cautiously. Rogues were always dangerous …especially wounded. But when we got closer, I froze. She was tiny. Silver-white hair matted with blood and dirt. Skin pale as death. Her clothes were torn and soaked red. Bite marks covered her arms and legs…defensive wounds. She’d been running.“Dead?” one of my warriors asked.I knelt beside her and checked her pulse. “Alive. Barely.”“Who is she?”That was the question, wasn’t it? Her scent was strange…familiar somehow but I couldn’t place it. Pack-raised, definitely. High-born from the quality of her remaining clothes. But running alone? Wounded like this?“Should we finish her?” my warrior asked. “Rogue on our territory…”“No.” The word came out harder than I intended. “Bring her to the pack house.”“A
