RORY'S POV

“It’s not your turn to take the Alpha’s tea.”

I turned to see Zara, the Alpha’s oldest mistress, standing in the doorway with her hands on her waist. Her sharp gaze raked over me like I was something filthy clinging to her floors.

I exhaled slowly. “Whose turn is it then?”

“It’s Mira’s.”

The name sent a jolt through me. Mira—the same woman who had sold me out during my escape attempt. I hadn’t seen her since that night, hadn’t even had a chance to look her in the eye.

“Mira?” I repeated, trying to keep my voice neutral.

“Yes, the one who reported your evil missions,” Zara said mockingly, stepping inside. Behind her, the other mistresses followed, their expressions ranging from amusement to mild curiosity.

Then Zara moved closer, lowering her voice just enough to sound conspiratorial.
