The last fragile spark of hope I had been desperately clinging to died in the cold air between us.

Lucian’s palm struck my bruised cheek with terrifying, deliberate force, snapping my head to the side. Light shattered behind my eyes, a sickening ring drowning out the room as dark, metallic blood filled my mouth. It dripped over my cracked lips, tracing a dark, humiliating path down my chin as if my shame needed a physical mark for everyone to witness.

Without another word, Lucian turned his back on me.

He walked away toward his brothers with unhurried, measured steps, his shoulders square and unburdened. The distance between us grew with every beat of my heart, and yet an agonizing, incomprehensible tug pulled violently at my soul. It was the mate bond—fractured, unclaimed, and bleeding—screaming in horror as he abandoned me.

Rough hands clamped around my bruised arms.

The enforcers didn't hesitate. They hauled me forward, my feet dragging uselessly across the sharp stone floor as I was dragged down the winding corridor. I didn't fight back. I couldn't. My body was a hollow cage of screaming pain, and my mind was drowning in the cold reality of my execution.

They dragged me into the open-air pack arena.

The colosseum was an ancient, ruthless structure built into the side of the mountain, designed specifically for public trials and blood sports. Suddenly, a series of deafening cracks echoed overhead as crimson signal flares shot into the night sky, bursting into blinding sparks that lit up the mountain peaks.

The signal had been given.

Within minutes, hundreds of pack members poured into the terraced stone bleachers from every corner of the territory. They came like vultures to a feast, their hushed, eager whispers rising in a terrifying crescendo. I was dragged to the center of the sand-covered pit and chained to a heavy iron post, completely exposed to their hungry, judging stares.

Then, the Quadruplet Alphas entered the royal box.

As one, the entire crowd rose to their feet and bowed their heads in absolute, terrifying reverence. Not a single wolf dared breathe until Cassian, Valerian, Darian, and Lucian took their seats upon four massive granite thrones.

My heart hammered against my shattered ribs as Cassian stood up, his voice booming across the arena with terrifying Alpha power:

"People of the Bloodmoon! I hereby try Rogue 456 for the high crime of insulting and assaulting Princess Anabel!"

His words echoed off the stone walls, formal, cold, and stripped of a single drop of mercy.

"Let this judgment serve as a warning to every rogue and pack member under our sky," Cassian declared, sweeping his gaze across the silent crowd. "A unanimous verdict has been reached by the Alpha bloodline. She is sentenced to fifty lashes at the iron post!"

A collective gasp swept through the arena. Some pack members grinned with dark satisfaction; others looked at my bleeding, fragile form with conflicted pity.

I closed my eyes, blood drying on my jaw.

Fifty.

For a brief, agonizing second, the world went completely still. Then, the first strike landed.

WHACK.

The leather whip tore through the back of my grey maid's gown, slicing directly into the flesh beneath with a sickening, wet crack. My body convulsed violently before my mind could even process the impact. Skin split open like parchment, and a raw, shattered scream ripped from my throat as white-hot fire erupted across my back.

WHACK.

WHACK.

The strikes came without mercy or rhythm. Each blow split the cold mountain air before tearing into my spine, opening fresh, gaping wounds over my barely healed flesh. My knees gave out completely, my body jerking against the iron chains as blood soaked through the coarse grey wool of my dress, dripping onto the yellow sand beneath me.

By the thirtieth lash, I couldn't feel my legs anymore.

My lungs burned for air as I hung from the iron cuffs, my vision blurring into a haze of dark red and shadow. Every ragged breath scraped my raw throat.

"Stop!"

Cassian’s voice cut through the arena like a razor, sharp and absolute.

The whip stilled instantly.

A heavy, breathless silence fell over the crowd. I sucked in a shuddering, frantic breath, relief washing over my broken mind so fast I almost wept with gratitude. He’s stopping it... Goddess above, he’s showing mercy...

Then, Cassian's next words shattered my soul into dust.

"I will personally deliver the rest."

My stomach dropped into a bottomless abyss.

The fragile relief vanished, replaced by pure, terrifying horror. I lifted my head weakly, my swollen eyes watching as Cassian stepped down from the royal box. He descended the stone steps with slow, predatory grace, his dark cloak billowing behind him. He walked into the center of the pit, his expression unreadable as he took the blood-stained leather whip from the executioner's hand.

Cassian raised his arm and brought the whip down.

CRACK.

My entire body shattered.

The force of an Alpha's strike was incomparably worse—it carried raw, crushing aura that bypassed flesh and slammed straight into my internal organs and bone marrow. Pain exploded through my chest, stealing every drop of air from my lungs. I choked, vomiting a thick mouthful of dark, clotted blood onto the sand beneath me.

CRACK.

The second strike from his hand crashed into my spine.

The iron post groaned under the tension as my body yielded entirely to the blow. My head snapped violently forward, slamming hard against the iron ring anchored in the stone. A sickening crack reverberated through my skull, and blinding stars exploded across my vision.

The strikes continued relentlessly.

Each blow dragged me deeper into the cold abyss of unconsciousness, my life bleeding out into the sand with every crack of the leather. On Cassian's eighteenth strike—the forty-eighth lash overall—my nerves finally went numb.

The roar of the crowd faded into a quiet, distant whisper. The pain melted away into cold, weightless peace.

The world went black, and I surrendered to the dark.

It wasn't the calculated, terrifying dominance I displayed in front of the elders or the pack enforcers. It exploded inside my chest without a second's warning—sharp, violent, and utterly barbaric, crashing through my ribcage like an unleashed monster breaking free from its iron chains.I couldn't even pinpoint the exact moment I had lost control, and that terrifying lack of grip only fueled the inferno raging beneath my skin. I had faced every form of resistance known to our kind before today. I had stared into the eyes of dying Alpha rivals who cursed my bloodline with their final breaths. I had weathered mockery, bitter resentment, and open defiance from captives, rogues, and political enemies alike

Lucian"Stop!"The word ripped from my throat before my brain could stop it, ringing across the cold granite hallway like a crack of thunder.I couldn't explain where it came from. It wasn't logic. It wasn't strategy. It was a raw, tangled instinct that pulled me in two opposite directions at once, tearing at my chest until I could barely breathe.Long before this day, I had made a silent vow to myself.I had sworn that when the Goddess finally granted me my mate, I would honor her. Shield her. Treat her with a reverence no other wolf in the territories had ever known. I had envisioned a bond of absolute devotion—giving her comfort, safety, luxury, and my unyielding protection. She would never have to beg for my mercy. She would be cherished. Spoiled. Safe behind my claws. And then the universe handed me her.A Crest rogue. Fractured. Untamed. The heavy double doors swung wide—and before I could draw breath, Anabel moved. Her fingers clamped around my right wrist like an iron snare, the sheer speed of her grip sending a sharp sting up my arm. ElenaMorning light pierced through a narrow stone window, slicing across my face like a blade. I groaned, pulling a bruised arm up to shield my eyes, my breath coming in shallow, ragged puffs of frustration as consciousness dragged me back from the dark void.I sat up abruptly—and froze. The room was silent, crisp, and unnervingly precise. The mattress beneath me was firm and narrow; the stone walls rose in clean, gray lines that pressed inward, giving the space a controlled, clinical feeling. An unadorned wardrobe stood pushed tightly against the corner, and a single wooden chair sat perfectly centered against the far wall. There was no scent of mold or rot here. It smelled of cedarwood, ozone, and fresh slate.Memories flooded my mind in sudden, brutal flashes—the four monstrous wolves in the moonlight, the crunch of my spine against the tree, iron chains, and four dark brothers declaring me their mate and personal maid.I am in the stronghold of the Quadruplet Alphas.Panic rising
