AMARA’S POV

The knock came just as the early morning light began filtering through the tall glass windows of my chamber.

I had barely slept. Every time I closed my eyes, images of the Arena, the crowd, and the weight of expectations clawed their way back into my thoughts.

When the knock came again, louder this time, I forced myself out of bed.

“Lady Amara,” a guard’s voice called from behind the door. “The council requests your presence at the Arena.”

I sat upright slowly, steadying my thoughts

  • FATED TO HIS DARKNESS    CHAPTER 43: THE MATING CEREMONY

AMARA'S POV The steam inside the ceremonial chamber curled up slowly towards the vaulted ceiling, carrying the soft fragrance of crushed moon lilies and sacred oils. I stood at the edge of the marble steps, wrapped in a loose white silk, as the priestesses prepared the final elements of the ritual. “Step forward, Luna-to-be,” the eldest priestess instructed gently. The title still sounded foreign to me. My bare feet touched the cool marble as I approached the glowing water. Flower petals floated across the surface in patterns I had been told represented unity, legacy, and protection over the kingdom. Two attendants slipped the silk from my shoulders and guided me toward the bath. “The sacred waters wash away past burdens,” one priestess murmured as she dipped her hands into the glowing pool. “You enter as a mate. You rise as Luna.” I swallowed quietly. Every Luna before me had carried a wolf, but I carried only myself. Slowly, I stepped into the bath. Warmth wrapped around

  • FATED TO HIS DARKNESS    CHAPTER 42: BEFORE THE CLAIM

KAEL’S POVThe folded letter remained clenched in my hand as I stepped out of our chamber. The warning echoed inside my mind like a distant storm. My jaw tightened.I glanced back once before shutting the door quietly. She had fallen asleep moments after reading the message, her brow slightly furrowed even in sleep. I touched her arm and stood there for a moment, letting my scent steady her breathing and ensuring the tension had truly left her body.I walked down the corridor, my mind already reaching through the mind-link.Liam.He answered immediately. My king.I pushed the images of the letter into his thoughts. I felt his shock spread through the mind-link before it hardened into focus.I ordered double security throughout the castle. Double patrols around our chambers. And quietly investigate every servant, guard, and council member who has access to this floor.Yes, my king.Rate this“Find out who placed that letter,” I continued, my tone darkening. “And do it without spreading

  • FATED TO HIS DARKNESS    CHAPTER 41: THE CROWN’S PROMISE

AMARA’S POV The sound of sudden movement pulled me from sleep. My eyes fluttered open, adjusting to the dim lighting of the chamber. Across the room, Kael stood near the wardrobe, fastening the clasps of his dark attire. His movements were precise. But it wasn’t what he was doing that caught my attention. It was the way he was watching me. His sharp gaze locked onto mine the moment I woke up, unreadable yet heavy with something I couldn’t name. “You’re awake,” he said calmly. I pushed myself upright, the lingering soreness in my body reminding me of the trial. As I moved, the sleeve of my nightwear slid down my arm, revealing silver markings curled across my skin. They shimmered faintly. I traced them unconsciously with my fingers. Kael’s eyes followed the movement, darkening slightly before turning away. “Freshen up,” he said. “Come downstairs for breakfast.” There was no command in his tone, yet I found myself nodding anyway. The shower eased some of the stiffness in my

  • FATED TO HIS DARKNESS    CHAPTER 40: THE MARK OF FATE

KAEL’S POVThe last day of the Luna Trials had arrived. The morning air was crisp and cold, carrying the scent of pine, wildflowers, and damp earth. Mist clung low to the forest floor, curling around the roots of the giant trees, giving the sacred clearing a magical feel.I stood at the edge of the clearing, my boots sinking slightly into the damp grass. The crowd had gathered in a wide circle: warriors, council members in ceremonial robes, and kingdom folk who had come to witness the final trial. The altar of the Moon Goddess rose ahead, carved from pale stones that glimmered faintly in the soft light. Silver threads of moonlight, despite the early hour, danced across its surface as if the goddess herself were present.I stood behind Amara, my hand brushing against hers. We were both dressed in white. She wore a long, flowing gown, delicate silver embroidery tracing the edges. Her hair shone under the morning sun. She looked calm—but I could see through her. Her hands were clenched a

  • FATED TO HIS DARKNESS    CHAPTER 39: Trial of Mind and Throne

AMARA’S POVSunlight brushed my pale face. My eyes flickered open as I stirred beneath the blanket, my body still aching from yesterday’s brutal Arena trial, but my mind refused to rest.Today is the second day of the Luna Trials. Yesterday had tested my strength and endurance; today would test something far more complex—my mind and judgment. Tasks that would challenge my patience, wits, and ability to command respect.I swung my legs over the bed, wincing as my thigh protested. I sat still, letting the pain settle into a dull ache. Kael’s words from the training ground echoed again in my thoughts: “I’m doing this for your sake and mine.” I swallowed, determination settling in my chest.I dressed quickly in the outfit Kael had prepared the night before. The fitted armour was lighter than the one for combat but perfect for this trial. He hadn’t been there this morning again. He had duties only a king could attend to. Still, it would have been nice to have him here. When I arrived at th

The Luna Trial had begun. There was no delaying it now.I swung my legs off the bed, intending to reach for my usual training clothes, but my movement halted when I noticed something unfamiliar resting across the mattress. An outfit. It was crafted from deep navy fabric that shimmered faintly in the early light. Thin silver embroidery traced the edges, forming subtle pr
