KAEL'S POV

She moved again, to a new apartment, new locks she triple-checked before bed. I stayed back, as I always do. Far enough she couldn’t sense me directly, close enough to step in if she needed it.

My presence was a shadow in her life, silent and unseen. The pain struck first. I felt it even before she did like a ripple through the air, sharp and twisting, making her curl in on herself.

Carefully, I reached toward her. Not to frighten not to scare. Just enough to ease it. My touch was almost a thought, a warmth she couldn’t see, but it soothed the ache. I held it there until it melted away, she never saw me. She only felt the relief and the strange, unexplainable comfort, and I stayed hidden, letting her believe she was alone.

The danger is real. The Shadow Queen’s reach spreads farther than she can imagine, Her agent, creatures carved from darkness, shift between worlds looking for weakness. If they sense the bond, and if anyone touches her… the cost would be mine to bear but she doesn’t need to know that.

She must not see me as a threat. She must not feel hunted. So, I remain quiet. Still. Watching. Waiting. Protecting her in ways she will never understand.

Every night, I was there. Unseen. A steady presence keeping harm at bay. Even if she never knew, even if she never saw me. And yet, every night the pull of the bond twisted tighter in my chest. It was more than protection now. It was a hunger. A need I could barely control. The mate bond is cruel in its design, it tethers the soul before the mind understands. It forces me to care, forces me to act, and yet I cannot let her know how deep it reaches.

I had saved her before. Once, twice… too close. The golden eyes she glimpsed that night in the shadows had betrayed me, and I had seen the flicker of recognition in hers. She doesn’t understand it yet, but I do. The bond pulls at me, and it pulls at her, even when she refuses to believe it.

I am careful. Every action is measured. Every step I take is calculated to keep her safe and unaware. And yet, the instinct of my wolf pushes. It whispers to me in growls and shadows: protect, stay close, mark your territory… claim.

I bite back the growls, the temptation, the instinct to step into her world fully. She must remain free, even if only in illusion. Every day that passes, I feel the danger closing in. Shadows moving that she cannot see, agents of the Shadow Queen. If they find her, if they touch her, they’ll face me. They’ll find no mercy.

And I will not fail her.

I am Kael, the Wolf King. Bearer of the bloodline curse. Bound by the moon and the ancient laws no one escapes. And nothing, not the Queen, not her agents, not the dangers that move unseen will reach her while I am here.

She doesn’t know yet… but she will.

And when that day comes, the bond will no longer hide. And neither will I.

  • FATED TO HIS DARKNESS    Chapter 59: Threats and Truths

KAEL'S POV As soon as I reached the dungeon door, Cassian rushed toward me, only to be yanked back violently by the chains around his ankle. Metal clanged harshly against the stone floor as he stumbled, barely managing to stay upright. Despite his battered appearance, bruises dark across his face, dried blood at the corner of his lip, he still carried that same arrogant, nonchalant attitude that had always irritated me. Let’s see how long he can keep that up. The guards unlocked the gate, and it creaked open slowly. I stepped inside. The air shifted the moment I entered. Tension pressed down heavily, thick enough to suffocate anything weaker. I approached Cassian coldly, my wolf alert and ready to strike at any moment. My aura spread through the room, pressing against the walls like an invisible weight. Cassian felt it too. His body recoiled instinctively, his confidence flickering for just a second before he forced it back into place. I stopped a few steps in front of him

  • FATED TO HIS DARKNESS    Chapter 58 : A blink of darkness

Amara’s POVI walked to the dungeon without slowing. The guards at the entrance straightened the moment they saw me. Shock flashed across their faces before they masked it. They hurried to open the main gate and moved steps ahead of me to lead the way.Halfway down the corridor, I stopped.“Do you know why I’m here?” I asked coldly. They exchanged a glance. “Yes, my queen. Alpha Cassian… and his sister.”“Lead the way.”The air grew heavier as we descended. Torches burned low along the stone walls, their smoke clinging to the ceiling. The corridor smelled of rust, damp earth, and something dead. Other prisoners shifted behind their bars as we passed, but their cells were angled away from the inner chamber. None of them could see into the section we approached. The guards unlocked the final door and stepped in first. I followed.Aurelia looked nothing like the composed woman I remembered. Her hair was mishelved, her face and her clothes creased and stained from days in confinement. But

KAEL’S POVI went to the infirmary to check on Adrian. Two guards stood stationed outside his door, under my orders. No one was to approach without my knowledge. When I reached the entrance, I stopped when I heard a familiar voice.I didn’t enter immediately. I knew Amara was inside.I could hear her clearly, even though I couldn’t see her fully. She was sitting beside Adrian’s bed, and she was apologising. Her voice was low… broken.“It’s my fault,” she whispered. “All of this… is my fault.”Then she sniffed, and everything went silent for a while.I stood there frozen, thinking if going in now was the best move to make. Then I heard more movement. She must have sensed me too.The moment she did, she quickly wiped her face dry, trying to erase evidence of tears that were already there. But I didn’t need to see her face to know.I could feel her emotions.I stepped inside, and her back stiffened instantly. She didn’t turn. I knew she was trying to hold herself together.I closed the d

  • FATED TO HIS DARKNESS    Chapter 56: A King’s Judgement

KAEL'S POV Before dawn, I left the room quietly, careful not to wake her. “Double the guards,” I ordered the moment I stepped out. “No one enters this chamber wing without my permission.” The guards straightened immediately. “Yes, my king,” one of them said, bowing. There shouldn’t be anyone near that part of the castle in the first place. It was reserved—for me… and my mate. As I descended the stairs, I reached out through the mind link. Is everything ready? Liam’s response came almost instantly. Yes. A slow smirk tugged at my lips. Good. Today wouldn’t be like the others. We’ll give them something to remember. There was a brief pause before Liam responded, amusement lacing his tone. I thought you’d say that. Breakfast was already ready when I arrived. The long dining hall was filled with platters of roasted meat, buttered bread, fresh fruits, and goblets of deep red wine. Maids stood at the sides waiting, along with a few guards. I acknowledged greetings with brie

  • FATED TO HIS DARKNESS    Chapter 55: Haunted Awakening

AMARA’S POV I woke slowly, my body heavy and aching, as if every muscle had been wrung dry. The faint scent of herbs lingered in the room, mixed with the scent of something warmer— Kael. My eyes fluttered open to see Priestess Thalia sitting at my bedside, holding a cup in her hands. “Drink this,” she said softly, pressing the cup toward me. “It will help.” I obeyed without hesitation, downing the bitter liquid in a single gulp. The taste made me wince, but the warmth spread through my chest, easing some of the lingering weakness. Thalia’s eyes studied me carefully. “It’s as effective as it is taste,” she remarked. I nodded, the memory of Adrian flashing in my mind. “How is Adrian?” I asked. “Getting better,” Thalia replied. Her calm tone should have reassured me, but my thoughts kept circling back to him. I remained quiet, lost in the swirl of my own fears. My body still felt fragile from the poison last time, and the memory of what I endured lingered like a shadow. Thalia

  • FATED TO HIS DARKNESS    Chapter 54: ON THE EDGE OF DEATH

KAEL’S POV The infirmary reeked of blood and herbs. I stood at the far end of the room, my gaze fixed on Adrian’s pale, trembling form. Each shallow breath seemed heavier than the last, I could feel my chest tighten. The healer approached me cautiously. “My king… we do not understand it,” he said. “There is no visible poison, no fatal wound. Yet… he vomited blood. His body is failing.” My jaw clenched. “You’re telling me you don’t know what’s killing him?” “We are still searching,” the healer replied. “Then keep searching,” I cut in sharply. “Run every test. Use every method. I don’t care what it takes.” My eyes flickered back to Adrian. “And make sure he stabilizes too.” The healer nodded, bowed his head. I turned and walked out. Amara sat in the walkway, shoulders trembling. Her red, swollen eyes lifted to mine as I approached. I took her hand gently. She flinched, startled. Tears fell freely, and I wiped them away without thinking. Her lips moved, but
