I was still shocked as I stared at the empty space he left behind.
How was he so fast?
He had done it so smoothly that I almost began to question my sanity. Had he truly been here or was it just something I made up in my mind?
He left without even breathing a word and once again, I didn't even know who he was or his name.
"There you are! Yulia!" Lana exclaimed as she appeared in my line of sight. "Are you trying to give me a heart attack?"
I swallowed hard as I stared at her wide eyed. Part of me was still lost in the existence of that man and his forbidden touch that evoked dangerous feelings within me while the other part of me was trying to force me to stabilise my thoughts.
"Are you okay?" She asked when she saw how pale I had become. "You look like you just saw a ghost."
I shook my head at her and tried to force a smile. "I'm fine. I— I'm just exhausted."
And it was no lie because I suddenly felt exhausted.
She pouted her lips at me. "My poor friend. I really wish I could take away all the pain from your life. I am sorry all of this is happening to you."
"C— can we go back to my house now?" I suddenly asked instead.
It felt wrong that I was still standing here. I just wanted to go bury myself within my pillows and wake up to see that this was all a bad nightmare.
"Sure girl, let's go. I'm here for you and I am sure as hell not leaving you alone anymore," Lana stated.
And I was glad that I still had her. She had always been there. She was like the sister I never had and I never wanted to lose her.
The mere thought of it made me shiver involuntarily.
"So, I'm just going to try to get your mind off all of this by telling you about the super hot man I saw at the funeral yesterday! Dang! That man was sexy!" She exclaimed as she led the way.
I widened my eyes at her, surprised that she was bringing it up now but at some point, I figured listening to her ramble about a hot man was way better than drowning in my own thoughts so I didn't protest.
"A hot man? At the funeral? There aren't many hot men here in this town," I answered.
"Exactly my thoughts. I've never seen him before but one look at him and I was melting inside. He was hot! He showed up just after you disappeared."
My house appeared in sight as we broke through the trees finally and I was more than glad to see my own home.
"Well, I think I have had my fill of hot men. I'm just going to leave that hot man to you alone," I told her.
But I felt Yara shift with doubt within me. She was not buying a word I was saying.
I turned to look at Lana and saw that she was also glaring at me.
"Yeah, I don't believe you. You're a sucker for hot men! And by the looks of things, you seem to have run into a hot man at the club last night!" She exclaimed.
I widened my eyes at her, allowing my mask to slip and she grinned at me, knowingly.
"I knew it! Spill every detail, Yulia!" She exclaimed.
I tried to wave her away. "There's no detail to spill. I met a goodlooking older man yesterday and that's it."
She gasped. "Hot older man? Don't you dare keep the juicy details away from me! Give me the full tea!"
I blinked widely at her. "There's nothing to say."
"Oh my gosh! Your face just turned red! You're blushing!" She exclaimed.
Then she suddenly gasped as if she had figured out my darkest deepest secret.
"Did you guys fuck?"
My heart skipped at the question as I was caught off guard but I swiftly recovered.
"God! No! We didn't! He is a fucking stranger. I don't go around having one night stands with strangers!"
She narrowed her eyes at me. She watched me for a long time before she finally sighed.
"Okay, whatever you say. You can keep the details to yourself and not share. I will also keep the details of that man," she went on. "I won't even tell you about his sexy dark hair, or his forest green eyes—"
I froze and turned a wide glare at her. "What did you just say?"
She chuckled. "Oh so now you're interested in my juicy details yet you acting like you don't like hot men—"
"Lana, how did you just describe him?"
She looked me over as if I was losing my mind. Maybe I was because could it just be a coincidence that her descriptions were matching my stranger or had it really been him at the funeral yesterday?
"Okay okay, fine. He had dark hair and forest green eyes. He was tall and like you guessed, I don't think he was from around here."
My blood instantly went cold. Why was he at the funeral? Had he started stalking me since the funeral, down to the club and now— the woods?
Could he be one of the people after my life?
My heart instantly started hammering hard and I felt as if I was having a panic attack.
"Oh my gosh, Yulia, are you okay? You're scaring me," Lana cried as she patted my back.
He had to be following me. It was no coincidence that he had been where I had been three times!
We finally reached the front door and Lana was about to push it open to let me in when a car suddenly came to a stop, parked by the road.
I froze as a familiar feeling, as well as a familiar scent wafted into my nose.
And when I saw the person step out of the car, all of my suspicions were confirmed.
It was him.
The mysterious forest green eyed man.
My hot nemesis.
~JAMALMy eyes felt weak, as I blinked twice. I had dozed for a few minutes but the noisy rackets of the guards hitting their batons against the metallic iron bars of my cell kept me awake. "Did I just catch you sleeping?" A guard sneered at me. "You damn traitor, how dare you try to betray your own general?"I ignored him and turned away, which was a bad idea because I nearly passed out from the pain. The silver chain on my neck burned into my skin and made me weaker with every passing hour. My wounds had barely healed up, because they were hitting me at intervals, intentionally trying to break me. "Are you ignoring me? Huh! Look at me you damn traitor!" The guard poked my head with his baton and I hissed, annoyed at him. I could barely raise a hand at him at the moment. I slowly fell to the ground and breathed laboriously. It was a struggle to get a decent amount of oxygen into my lungs. "Look at you, all weak and lying down on the ground." The guard stood right above me, befor
~ISSAI parked the car and tossed the keys in my pocket. The parking lot was empty, except for a few radio vans and ice cream trucks. I knew what was in those vans after all, they were mine. High-Tech surveillance material. I walked up to the florist shop and walked in. The florist saw me and opened the door that led to the elevator. Another assistant in the florist shop flipped the open sign to close at the door. Both of them were watchmen, agents I chose to run the shop in the guise of watching over the entrance to my underground network. I walked into the elevator and pressed the button. The door closed, and I felt gravity shift slightly as it moved down. As the door opened, I saw Spider waiting for me at the entrance. "Spider, give me news." I walked past him and he followed. The lights were bright overhead, as several hackers and agents worked hand in hand in obtaining information. "We have been observing some unusual patterns in the people that got missing. We had to go
~IRISI watched over Andrea. She rested peacefully on the bed. The empty packs of sedatives laid fresh on the table. Without the sedatives, Andrea would have hundred percent slash her wrist or do something ten times worse. She was unstable. A fresh pack of sedatives waited in the corner. It was to be administered to her before the drugs wore off. I glanced at my watch. One hour thirty minutes from now, she would be sedated again. My throat stung, tears held back. I couldn't cry. If I had energy to cry, I could have used it to help Andrea, instead of watching over her like this. And Leia, she was still nowhere to be seen. She had better stay hidden, I didn't care anymore. If I had to protect Andrea myself, then so be it. I will take care of Andrea, I will find a way. I walked up to Andrea and checked her pulse. It was slow, but it was there. It was firm, her hand felt warm. What the hell was wrong with her? What did our undead mother do to her? I got angry, when I remembered
~YULIAIt felt awkward, standing there with Issa after our little fight. I was glad to see him, but I just couldn't take my mind off it. I had pushed him away, as usual. I shouldn't have done that. And my visit with Davina, he couldn't know about it. Not now. I nursed Lana to sleep, and placed a blanket on her as she slept on the bed. She had calmed down a little, but she was still pale. I rubbed my arms together, thinking about Jamal Khan. I knew he was a strong person, but being held captive at that division. Even Issa's expression showed that it was serious. As I went down to the kitchen, I was surprised to see Issa still around. He looked up at me and I went back the opposite way. I sat in the dining room and rubbed my hands together. It was getting colder as the night crept on us. "Where are you running off to?" Issa appeared at the door. He had a cup of tea and some cookies on a plate on each hand. I wondered how he did that. How he suddenly appeared without kicking off a
~ISSA. "Spider, tell me you have something good for me." I barged into his office—technically a small cubicle at the corner and peered into his screen. Spider nearly jumped and removed his headset quickly, then regained composure halfway. "We have found Deucalion, sir!" He immediately held up two pictures to me. My blood boiled and I smiled in dark satisfaction, at the evil things I would do to Deucalion when I got him. I held the pictures up and saw his pixelated face from a side profile. I recognized that face, he seemed to have aged a bit but it was definitely Deucalion. "Where is he?" I growled. "Our drones got him in the Black Forest. We lost him soon after but there have been several sightings since then." I straightened my back and stared into space. It made sense for him to hide in the Black Forest. There were ancient ritual sites across the area, it would be easier for him to do Helena's bidding. I dropped the pictures on his table. "Keep looking into him. We can't go
~YULIAI had cut Issa off once again. I had heard him leave the house last night but I never heard him come back. Yara had protested angrily about it but I could not bring myself to be in his presence. I wanted to be alone with my thoughts and plot my next line of action. My thoughts remained plagued by Albus' appearance and the name I had gotten. The darkness had a name. "Uriel." I did not know it when I finally fell asleep. All I knew was that I woke up and the sun was already glowing in the sky. The house was empty. I swallowed hard. "Where could Issa be?" I would have made him breakfast but with him not even home, I found myself at a loss of appetite. "What do I do now?" I began to pace the dining hall while massaging my temple. There was so much at stake right now. The prophecy had shaken me to the core because everything was pointing at me. The Unmaking. . .I sighed heavily. "Albus had told me to understand the past. Thus that was exactly what I had to do.""But h
