Elena’s POV

The night unfolds exactly as I planned.

Lanterns glow at the precise height fitting enough to cast a warm softness over the guests. Music drifts softly without overpowering the conversation.

And the tables are filled with various elegant guests, all acting like they created the world itself.

I almost scoff in disgust, thinking about how some of them may treat their omegas just as was done in our own pack.

But tonight is not the night for that. In life, there are some fights you must fulfill not with your hands, but with a wide smile stretched across your face.

This is what I have learned being in the palace so far.

I walk through the courtyard like a shadow with purpose, smiling widely as I pause to pay light greetings. Playing the role of a perfect hostess because I know they are watching.

Lukas and possibly the alpha King.

I know they are somewhere watching me, perhaps waiting for me to make a mistake so they can come out and remind me of my place before everyone.
