Felicity thought she had heard wrong. There was a certain longing in her father’s voice. She immediately looked at him but she could not read any emotion from his tired looking face. However, his eyes told her that there was pain being them. Her earlier speculation went out the window since the pain could only mean one thing, sleep.
Bruce alighted the carriage and waited for Felicity to do the same. Felicity closed her book and followed her father. Once her feet touched the ground she looked around and took the scenery in. The countryside always brightened her days whenever she came. She looked at the sky, held the book tighter to her chest, took a deep breathe and smiled.
The air was cleaner here. The trees were livelier. The birds were more energetic a’d everyone always wore a smile on their faces. They always greeted one another. Life here was totally worthwhile. Bruce had a smile on his face while looking at Felicity but he immediately dropped it when she looked at him.
“Bruce.” A voice called out.
“Mother.” She hugged her son before turning her attention to Felicity.
“Stormy.” She exclaimed and hugged Felicity. Stormy was a nickname her grandmother used since she was always full of energy when she was young. She said Felicity reminded her of a storm. It would always come in strong and leave just as strong. Once they had exchanged greetings, she welcomed them in.
Felicity’s grandmother, Hailey, asked Bruce why they had come on such short notice and this made Felicity stop. She had thought it was one of the trips her father always made to visit grandma Hailey to get away from work. What could have been the cause of not informing her this time? Bruce walked away grumbling and headed to his room.
In a flash, Hailey’s eyes became hard and cold as she looked at her son. Felicity might not have heard what she had said but Hailey definitely did. Hailey asked her to head up to her room and get some rest. The journey might not have been long but she was still exhausted. Following her grandmothers directive, she headed up to the room.
Hailey walked to her son’s room to get things clear. Felicity who had gotten to her room, sat down on her bed and stared at the ceiling. She could not shake the feeling that something was wrong. The only person who could really tell her what was happening was her grandmother, yet she had disappeared when her father grumbled.
As soon as she stepped foot into his room, Hailey demanded to know what was going on. Bruce walked to the door and closed it. He then helped his mother seat down. He really needed someone to talk to after what had happened with his brother but he couldn’t trust anyone after the incident. Before even his mother sat down, a line tear betrayed him and escaped. It landed on his mother’s hand.
Hailey immediately knew that something was wrong. She called down and took a seat. Bruce dragged his tired body to his seat. They were both silent for a while. Bruce’s emotions were all over thee place so he took this time to put them in order. Hailey let him have his time. She knew how much the lose of Daisy had impacted him and raising a daughter who very much looks like her was a weight he could barely manage on his own.
“It’s complicated.” He began.
Bruce hadn’t realized that his tears were falling. When he did, he wiped them away shocked. Hailey stood up and went to her son’s side. She enveloped him into a hug and for the first time in ages he met it all out. He did not care whether he was a grown man or not, all he knew was that he had reached his limit. Afterwards, he told his mother what had happened and she, also agreed bitterly with the decision he had taken. It was for the best.
Feeling more at ease than back when she was back home, Felicity fell asleep. After a while, she felt someone shake her. Felicity opened her eyes to find grandma Hailey there with her. She sat down and rubbed her eyes. The book was still held over her chest by her hand. Grandma Hailey immediately recognized it and reached out for it.
The book was a collection of stories Daisy had thought of, at least that was what she told everyone but she knew that wasn’t the case. Felicity noticed that her grandmother was staring at the book. She gave it to her but she declined it. Hailey could never once read the book no matter how much she tried. She came to a conclusion long ago that the book was never meant for her but for her granddaughter.
Daisy was supposed to be the last, but now it was Felicity.
“What is it about?”
“Collection of short stories.” Felicity replied.
“Take good care of it.”
“Mm.”
Felicity opened the first page but found it blank. She was sure there had been a message for her earlier on. She closed the book and opened it once more but, nothing. Had it been her imagination? Or had it been something she desperately wished for?
For a while now, Felicity could not remember what her mother looked like. Her memory was never 9ne to be questioned but she found out that after that strange dream, the memory of her mother was blocked. When she found the note this morning, she was glad to finally have something in her writing. But, that was not meant to be, right?
Hailey touched her shoulder and told her the reason why she was in her room. It was time for dinner. Felicity woke up and followed her grandmother, she turned to look at the window and caught a dark shadow sitting there. The man in her dream. Felicity wanted to call out to him but when she blinked, he was gone.
She turned to follow Grandma Hailey but someone was there.
“It is almost time. Don’t lose it.” He said while pointing at the book. And just as he had come, he disappeared.
Night had fallen and she had put her to bed. Nothing out of the ordinary had happened. They had crossed paths with Jayden only once. For the rest of the family, she had not seen them. And as she had earlier been told, she did not need to report what she did to either thee batter or the mistress of this household.Thinking about the mistress made her body shiver. The chills she felt were yet to be determined to be fear or simple dislike. She walked to her room and leaned against the closed door. She heard the flapping of a cape but remained as she was. Felicity did not find any need in raising her head. She had been feeling some discomfort for a while but she did not know why.A hand was placed on her head making her twitch because she was not expecting it. Feeling cold as thee person withdrew their hand, she leaned in for more. Her body acted on its own but she did not resist. The hand was warm and not as cold as everyone else’s. He wa
It had been two days since that night and everything had gone smoothly if she had to say. She had managed to avoid the mistress of the house, the husband, the kids and any distractions in her work. Jayden had somehow warmed up to her since that night but she still felt incomplete like something was missing. She closed the chest she had opened and walked to her seat. She could consider herself lucky as she was given a room all to herself, food was provided and she could use the library if she so desired. She had stationed her seat by the window so that she could look out. The view from her seat was breathtaking no matter how many times she saw it.There was a huge tree right by her window. It wasn’t too close to inconvenience the light but it wasn’t too far either. It would shed its leaves as the wind blew by making the view spectacular. Holding her book in hand, she took a seat and placed it on her lap. She wondered what had happ
Night was upon them and the environment was as quiet as a cemetery. The lights were out as everyone was having a dream or two. There was no wind that night. However, someone walked out of the household. They had a cloak on them making it difficult for anyone to recognize them. They jumped over the wall and fled.Morning came and those in the residence went on with their duties as if nothing had happened. The runaway had already gotten close to their destination. Even they had been normal, they would have taken a whole night plus half the day to get there on foot but they had their way. By the time, he family was serving breakfast, she was already there. She went in without further delay or even bothering to tell her superiors that she had arrived. At the moment, what was important to her, was the life she had come to save. That was, of it jadn’t crossed over yet. The butler yelled for her to stop which attracted the attention of those
Someone walked in a slightly lit dark corridor. The light that managed to penetrate only illuminated the path enough for a little vision. The person kept on walking into things and walking while holding the wall. They had carried something that was important. However, after a while, the person began walking without any trouble.Once outside, Becky turned around to thank the person that had guided her. She opened her mouth to speak but only smiled in the end. It was a wise decision as it would be odd for her to thank someone other people could not see. She walked to the main house and someone followed her. The sound of a cloak flapping was heard as the person followed her.His feet never touched the ground. His feet were bare and clean. He was dressed in silver from top to bottom. One could not see his face or any other feature because his were covered in a long cloak and his hood was on. However, his hair was visible. At first
The air was tense. He was seated in the middle of the room looking at the two who only glared back at him. He wondered what he had done wrong. His mind began thinking of what he chores were. If he had completed every one of them and his conscious was clear. He was sure he had done it all with a little more to show.Hailey sighed. She knew that look all too well. He was confused and was trying to figure out why he was in such a predicament. This made her remember the one time he was called by her. Time had passed by so much since then. She smiled to herself.Roger was still a fresh leave in her mansion. He was not yet accustomed to doing the work he could do now. Moreover, most of the duties he had now were ones he had added for himself through the years. He had been brought over by Felicity’s mother and his eyes were puffy from crying all the way. From the moment she set her eyes on him, she knew that he was indeed like h
The day had been long and tiresome. The events were both good and bad. The master and mistress came home that evening and so did the rest of the siblings. The once free environment became very toxic and suffocating. It did not feel like a family and gave of the feeling of an office where the manager was constantly at the employee demanding for results. The only ones who behaved like family were Jayden and Jodie. She helped the maids set the table as she wanted to avoid staying with a family this suffocating. Her life had not been an easy one but right now she needed light not more darkness. They all ate silently and in a robotic way. Occasionally, she felt someone gazing at her and it made shivers run up and down her spine at an alarming rate. She dared not look up and continued thinking. Her face was void of emotion but no one could deny the fact that she still looked heavenly and even more breathtaking. From time to time, she
